FTP Newbie

Hi,

Could someone tell me how to FTP an entire "folder" to a website?

I'm trying to upload a photoshow to my account at Worldzone. I have no problem loading a "file," but I would think there would be some way to upload an entire "folder." This particular photoshow, alone, has over 80 pictures - I can't imagine loading them each, individually...

Isn't there a better way?

It depends on the FTP program you're using. If when you are selecting the file for upload, see if the program will allow you to select the entire folder. If it won't, try selecting multiple files using the shift key and see if you can select all the photos at once. The program may be restricted to one file at a time.

Thanks for your reponse.

I guess that's my problem. I thought by acquiring one of the "paid subscriptions" through Worldzone, I could use the FTP utility within their site to transfer my files/folders.

It appears that, with them, I'll have to transfer files one by one.

I guess I need another piece, huh?

Can you recommend one that will move an entire folder?

CuteFTP is a good FTP program. WS-FTP is another popular one. You can find either on the net... I believe both come with a free 30-day trial.

If you do a search for FTP programs, you can probably find freeware.

You'll need to know the Worldzone ftp address (usually something like ftp.worldzone.com), and have a username/password.

I use WZ, both the Plus and the Pro. Not sure if you can do FTP uploads on Plus, I know you can (I do) on the Pro. I use Filezilla, recommended to me by J Cricket here, a knowledgeable guy. http://www.webattack.com/get/filezilla.shtml

I use coffee cup's free FTP software.

Try looking at www.cnet.com and the downloads section. Search on FTP and you'll get a lot of choices.
