My brother sends me flowers a few times a year. he used to use the local nursery but the past two times he has used FTD.
On my birthday he sent me a dozen long stemmed roses. they came almost dead. Brown instead of red and when I lifted them from the box most of the petals fell off. I called and they did send me another bouquet a few days later.
For Mother's Day he sent me what was supposed to be a pretty bouquet with the vase. I checked the photo on line and the flowers they sent were not what was in the photo. Not even close. The photo showed pink roses and lilies but I got 2 red roses, some yellow crysanthamums and something that looked like wild lilacs on thick woody stems that were purple. They were flat, squashed and almost dead. I called and they sent me another bouquet today but these were worse than the first. the 2 roses I received were supposed to be yellow but were brown. The only thing that looked good were the 4 stems of eucalyptus which I am allergic to and not supposed to be in the bouquet at all. these flowers were yellow, purple and white, again not the pink bouquet they show on line.
I called FTD and complained again and they said they will send me another bouquet if I want. What I really want is for my brother to get his money back but they won't give it to him unless he calls and complains. I am going to call him tomorrow and explain this to him but I hate to sound ungrateful. I never told him about the problems with my birthday flowers since the 2nd bouquet was better, but I did tell him that the Mothe'rs Day flowers were not good and they were replacing them this week.
I think the problem might be with delivery. They told me the replacement flowers would be delivered on Thursday. I was not home yesterday and when I drove up today at around 3 pm the box was on the front porch.
anyone use FTD and have any problems and what did you do to resolve them.

Yes, I basically have had the same problems as you've mentioned. The flowers just aren't healthy. I never did anything about it, but I never order from them when I order flowers for others.

Hmmm, FTD uses local florists to fulfill their orders. I think your problem is with the local florist who is fulfilling the orders for FTD. I just got a Groupon for FTD so ordered flowers for my mom. The flowers were perfect, delivered in a timely manner and because my parents weren't home, they were left by the back door with a recycle bin covering them. A note was left on the front door saying that the flowers were there. It turned out that the florist who fulfilled the order is one of the best florists in the area.

Mickey -

If you can figure out which local florist fulfilled your FTD order, I'd suggest contacting them directly. Maybe their delivery service isn't delivering on-time?... We had that happen once with some flowers my DH ordered for me. The delivery guy was a subcontractor to the florist shop, not an employee, and the delivery was guaranteed for a certain date (y'know, like *on* Mothers' Day or *on* my birthday ). This driver picked up the flowers on the right date but was going to deliver them the next day! So the flowers would have been in his vehicle (not a refrigerated truck btw) overnight...

agnes!

FTD just charges a huge mark up for the 'service' of taking your order and giving it a local florist. For a few years now I've cut FTD out of the loop and have contacted florists in the town where the flowers are being delivered. I save money and the person I'm sending flowers to gets exactly what I paid for. I save at least 40% off what FTD charges when I order through them.

With the internet today, it's easy to find a local florist and just order with them directly. No need for FTD, 1800 Flowers, Pro Flowers, etc. The one I use for my MIL even takes orders online!

This.

When I was in Florida I sent flowers to my office up in New York for my wife and her 2 employees through FTD. A local shop showed up with 2 arraingments for my wife and one employee. They were thinking "Why's he mad at the office manager?" as she was the one left out. Then a half hour later another local shop shows up with the 3rd for the office manager. They were supposed to be all alike but the office managers was twice the size of the first two. It was all on the same order.

Oh, don't get me started on that company! I found out the hard way it's much easier to google flower shops in the city you need them delivered in & call direct.

I ordered thru FTD for mothers day in 2008. The day after I ordered, I found out my mom had passed away. So I called to cancel & was told it wasn't possible. This was on the Monday BEFORE mothers day as I'd called the order in on the day prior.

Therefore, I refuse to deal with them & tell everyone I can not to either. In my mind, there was enough time to stop the order.

I called the nursing home & told the people there to either toss the flowers or give to someone else & that the company I called couldn't cancel the order.

GOod luck, OP; hope your situation can be rectified!

Are you sure its FTD? They deliver in a vase-there is another flower company that delivers in a Box (I think its 1-800-Flowers?)

Yes, sure these were FTD. The flowers were wrapped in the flower plastic cone wrapped in gold mesh and included a vase in the box. No water of course.
they came in the black FTD box with gold writing.

One of my friend's in high school's mom was a florist. As everyone said, FTD is just a service that places orders to a local flower shop. The florist has a catalog in which she can look up what the bouquet is supposed to look like. If she does NOT have the flower bouquet ordered, they will substitute with what they have with comparable flowers. OR they should cancel the order.

More than likely, since it was a busy holiday, the flower shop used all the fresh, nice flowers for their regular customers and walk in customers, and filled the FTD orders last, which is why you got all the dead stuff, substituted flowers and stuff not even in a vase. They figure your brother is not a regular, what do they care? :confused3

You should tell your brother. Have him fight for a refund, find which local florist it was and NOT use them.

The one florist ran out of the flowers needed, and the second company just substituted what they had on hand, so they wouldn't lose the order.

I would have called my credit card to dispute the charge. Since it was several days before they even shipped, your CC company probably could have canceled the charge & the order. It's amazing when the CC company calls about a dispute and the store knows it won't get paid, how suddenly and easily the order can get canceled. :rolleyes1

I ordered a funeral arrangement from Telafora and this was 100% their fault. The local florist did nothing wrong. So the funeral was on a Sunday. I saw the bouqet I have picked out. I didn't think anything of it until the next Friday and I get a call from Telaflora saying they just sent the order to the local florist that day and I did I still want it. It turns out, the arrangement I thought was mine was purchased by someone else. So this is 5 or 6 days AFTER the funeral (and it was one of those arrangements you put on the grave to cover it, along with other people buying similar arrangements so the gravesite is blanketed with flowers. So the Telaflora rep asked me if I still wanted them sent. Like I would really want funeral flowers sent a week late. I was so upset, that I just said no thank you and thanks for calling.
I told my dad and he said they should have offered you a free flower or plant arrangement to send to the family for free. But they didn't, and I was to upset to ask.

That is not the typical style of FTD delivery:confused:
My neighbor works at a shop with FTD wire service and I asked her -they deliver the flowers in their vans-in a vase with water with ribbon with their sticker on it-even if the order comes from FTD

Here's a link to a ratings system of florists

I've had flowers delivered from 1-800-Flowers by Fed Ex..lol They were horrible. Never by FTD though..I thought they were delivered by local florists as well.

Yes, FTD stinks. I had a horrible experience with them a few years ago. I finally did get a full refund, but it took 3 hours on hold over 3 calls to get it to happen.
