Ft. Wilderness to Poly on July 4th - Easiest way?

We're planning dinner at Trail's End, and then looking to head to the beach at the Poly for "July 4th Dole Whips and Fireworks(TM)".

Which makes the most sense:
(1) Boat from FW to Contemp > Resort Monorail to Poly (then reverse)
(2) Take car from FW to TTC / MK Parking and walk to Poly

Thoughts? Other ideas? My parents are now 68 and 65, and have begun pretending that they're "super old", so lots of unnecessary walking is discouraged. Otherwise, let's hear it

If your parents don't want to much walking, then i would take option 1.

Just a heads up for you....

On the 4th the crowd levels will be on overload. Everyone will be trying to get to the CR, GF or Poly to see the fireworks. Plus all the people that are in the park. If you want to even have a hope of seeing the fireworks make sure that you are headed to the Poly no later than 6:30pm.....no joke. Two years ago we tried to get to the Poly from POFQ and it took nearly 2 hrs to get there and by that time we had missed the fireworks.....BTW, we only got to MK in that time. We then turned around and headed back to POFQ....that took another 2hrs. All due to the volume of traffic around the MK.

Just stay at Fort Wilderness and see the fireworks there. They'll be a little further away but much easier, especially for the parents.

That is definitely under consideration I saw a map Robo had posted some moons ago that indicated there was some low level blocking that happens from Contemporary, so we've been weighing whether or not that was "too much" blocking. The other advantage is all the grassy area for the kids to run around in while we wait for fireworks... but Fort Wilderness does have a playground, if I recall
