At Ft Wilderness Campground, you can choose between two friendship boats: Boat A (directly to the Magic Kingdom), and Boat B (to Ft Wilderness Lodge/Contemporary). Does it make sense to take the Boat B if the Boat A is taking a long time to arrive or if the line is really long? If your goal is to go to the Magic Kingdom or the other Bay Lake Resorts, and to can get the monorail or walk from the Contemporary should one do it? And if so why don't the cast members explain this option? I was bummed last night at 9pm while staying at the Fort Wilderness Campsite that I didn't think of this strategy when I let Boat B come and go, and was hoping to make it to the Poly by 10pm to see Wishes from the beach. :(. I was planing on taking the Boat A to MK and then the Resort boat tothe Poly. I should have hoped on the Boat B to contemporary and caught the monorail. Next time!

Yes,it is great to have options-it just depends on the situation as to which Water Launch I choose.:)

We are going to be staying at Fort Wilderness (in a cabin) for the first time in November. So you're saying that an alternative option would be to take the Boat B to the Contemporary, and then monorail to Magic Kingdom? How long does it usually take to wait for Boat A? Is it faster to drive and park in the MK parking lot then shuttle?

OP, did you make it to the Poly in time? Usually, the best way to the Magic Kingdom from Fort Wilderness is the direct boat from the campground to the front of MK. If you drive, you have to park and take the monorail or the ferry and it will take longer. From my experience, the park boat is quicker even if the resort boat is waiting right there - sometimes the resort boat goes to Wilderness Lodge first, then the walk from the dock and up to monorail (seems VERY long after a long day), then wait for the monorail. The park boat also drops you off RIGHT THERE to to the entrance and in very close proximity to the boats to the GF and the Poly.

However, my understanding is that the FW resort boat starts running earlier than the park boat so I will be taking that next week and probably walking from Contemporary to MK for EMH.
