Has anyone done the evening campfire and movie at Ft. Wilderness? I have an 8 yr. old son I'll be bringing - sounds like something he would love - is it worth the hassle (we are staying at CSR) over eating in Epcot and watching Illuminations? (which seems more grown-upy)
We have a short visit - so we have to choose. Thanks for your input!

We did the campfire/movie a few years ago, and thought it was a pretty fun. You can buy marshmallows to roast, and they have benches and bleachers to sit on. Its not very awe-inspiring like Illuminations, but its a pretty unique experience within WDW.

They publish the movie schedule a month or two in advance, and unless its a movie you can't stand, it might be worth doing.

One other thing: its a bit secluded (unless they've moved it in recent years), and you have to take one of the Ft Wilderness buses from the parking lot back to the campfire area.

We went to the campfire in Nov didn't stay for the movie. My girls 12 & 9 were not impressed with the campfire. I asked my 9yo waht she would recommend and she says dinner & immuminations. The campfire is for babies in her terms. It really wasn't enough to impress an older child, especially one that's been to Disney several times.

No real comparison in my book. While the Campfire might be nice to do if you have the time, you don't want to miss Illuminations. An outstanding fireworks and laser show.

as one who has stayed and done the campfire and movie as a child and a parent i would choose dinner and illuminations since you are not staying at FWR. For me and DW we both agree its a nice activity to do if you are having a kickback night with no plans for the kids (more like a restful event) the movie is probably going to be soomething your child has probably seen and with the inconvience of getting to the meadows trading post and back to main gate I would suggest dinner and llluminations
