Ft Wilderness Cabins May 15-22. WE ARE DOING WHAT?

:cheer2: I am very excited now about my September trip. I, of course, have changed things up, for the ohhhhhhhhh 3rd time. It is now September 26-October 3 staying in the All Star Sports. I was able to add the two extra nights because I dropped the preferred room and I saved a little extra in my savings account. I almost have it paid off already and that makes it all the more exciting. I won't buy any new clothes for this trip because I bought so many for the May trip I won't need any.

I just had to share my excitement about my upcoming trip :dance3:.

We were up early because we had the photo shoot at GF. We ate breakfast in the cabin and then headed over. It was really overcast and we wanted to get the photo shoot done before the rains came. We drove over and I swear the parking at the GF is horrible. You have to park across the street and I would expect a place like this to have upfront parking. So anyway, we go in the lobby and ask at the desk where we need to go and they have no idea :scared1:. So we sit in the lobby and I get up and go ask someone else and the CM says " I think that is on the second floor". So up we go and yep the Photopass desk is right outside the elevator. Do the people at the front desk not go upstairs once in a while :rolleyes1. We have a really cool photographer and she was easy to work with, not all of our shots worked out well, but we got some good ones too.

We had our photos printed and of course when we went outside it started pouring down AGAIN. Dale was so sweet to walk out in the rain and get the van while we all waited. We loaded the van and went to the kennel to take care of Niko again and then we headed to the cabin to change clothes and then on to DHS. But, I have been neglecting to mention that since Niko was refusing to eat his regular food I was having to come up with unique ways and things to feed him. We had some vienna sausages and the dog would eat them, IF and ONLY IF, I broke them up and fed them to him by hand :scared1: So now we headed to DHS. We didn't even stop for the photo pass photographer as it was raining and I just didn't feel like bothering with it. We headed to Toy Story and the wait was 55 minutes and Dallas wanted to ride. Dale, Amanda, Tyler and Matt headed off to ride Star Tours. We got in line and it went pretty fast.

By the time we finished with the ride we got a call from Dale telling us to meet them. We met up and headed to Sci-Fi. We checked in about 30 minutes early and waited about 10 before we were seated.

This was my drink and the glow cube Dallas took over after the dunk in my water...lol
Magical Star Cocktail it was very good.

Amanda's drink and I too had to have one of these. Yummy, Yummy, Yummmmmmmmy

The cake was amazing. Our waitress said everyone in the kitchen was talking about the cake. She said they had never seen anything like it. The wait staff was stopping by our table to tell us how amazed they were with the cake. It was well worth the $80.00 it was soooooooo good and we ate cake for the rest of the week. When we left we threw about 1/4 of it away. The icing was the best I have ever tasted and I am not a big chocolate eater. So after all the ohhhh and awwwwws we boxed the cake up so we could leave. Dale, Dallas and I were heading back to the cabin to take the cake because it was very heavy and I didn't want the Mickey to melt. Mickey is in my freezer as we speak........:lmao:. Tyler, Amanda and Matt headed to RRc and ToT. We took the cake and headed to Niko. I guess you see the breaks we took for Niko :rolleyes1. We got back to the park and called the big kids. So we met up and headed back to Toy Story to ride again. The wait time was 55 minutes again. Dallas and I really like this ride. We then rode The Great Movie Ride and saw Indiana Jones. It started raining again so we headed to the cabin and called it a day.

Next up-----AK and the Yak and Yeti.

That cake WAS awesome. I wish I had a piece of it now. I wish it had been sunny because we could have had pics in the hammac and everything else, but it was too wet to sit in. The GF was really pretty inside, but I think the Poly is much prettier. I wish I could add more days and move it all the way back to your dates.....lol. That would be my dream :cloud9:.

I am glad to hear y'all made it home safe. I know what you mean about
unpacking and laundry. I didn't think I would ever get it all done. Can't wait to see your pics.

So I just caught up:cutie:... so glad we did not do the cabins like orginally planned... Niko looks just like our Brownie... love the pics at the Floridian (spelling)... we did the two rooms at ASSp glad we did; but, note it is a loud resort... our rooms were separted but you can read about that in my
TR:laughing:

can't wait to read more... still washing laundry...thought I was finished than Gwendolyn and Joe brought me theirs (so kind of them):laundy:

our late EMH every ride we rode we had to show our key!:flower3:
must just depend on the CM working...

Hey! I'm finally here! sorry it's been a weird week and I didn't get on much. I'm all caught up. I hate that it rained on ya'll as much as it did.

The pics are great at GF! You look so pretty!

Poor Niko! Glad that got straightened out and you put him in the other kennel. I LOL'd about having to hand feed him. My little Bella was just like that. She was a yorkie mix.

The cabins are not really what I had pictured. I don't think I'll stay there. LOL The CS closes at 10pm at Wilderness? Why? I love that they are open until 12 am at the other places at least at the all stars and AKL they are.

I'm looking forward to more!!

I forgot to ask, what do you think about Pensacola? My dad is thinking about us all moving down there within the next few years and I've been looking into places in FL to move anyway. I just don't like that it is an hour farther away from Disney than Macon is. LOL I might as well move up to Atlanta! I wanted to move to FL to be closer to Disney not farther away! Ha ha. But I was just wanting to know if it's a safe town and worth moving to.

My dad is looking into starting up a business in logging. But it's where you go into the rivers and pull up logs that sunk to the bottom when they use to float logs down the rivers. The logs are worth thousands or something. :confused3 Sounds good to me!

The cake looks yummy and I don't even like chocolate. I know sick girl! I do crave dark chocolate covered caramels when I am prego, though.

You have such a cute family. I am going to use our photos for Christmas cards this year.

Just subbing, so sorry you had a rough time at the cabins. We were quite happy there but it is tight for the ages you had, as it was for us (see my TR lol). But I'd stay there again. Though not with all 6 of us, it'll be 2 cabins or elsewhere if it's the full crew. THV is calling our name.

Scary about the floor, we had amazing mousekeeping when we were there so I was surprised by the feet. Poor Niko!

What exactly was in the cake on the inside? Very impressive!

All caught up! Love the pics at GF and the meet. The photopass photog scanned my card at the meet but all I got was 3 pics of Aurora:confused3. Oh well.

We weren't very impressed with CM. I definitely wouldn't have liked an hour wait. The kids would have been bouncing off the walls. We only waited about 10 minutes but our waitress wasn't very good, the characters spent all of 2 seconds with the girls and the food was just okay. We'll probably skip it next year-1900 Park Fare was a much better experience for us.

Thanks about the pix, I just wish we could have done the hammock pix because I think they are really cute. I loved having the two rooms at ASMu last year and they were connecting. It was so nice having 2 bathrooms.

I am doing the dreaded laundry today. This is my weekend off so I want to get it all done and have tomorrow to just rest.

It is good to know that they do check the kttw, it just surprised me that they didn't ask any of my crew for them.

Thank you about the pix that is sweet of you. I was so worried it was going to start raining while we were outside. The photog did some good shots inside too of all of us. I love the pix of the kids in the window.

Niko is just like a baby. I had to hand feed him when we first got him too :sad2:.

There really isn't a CS at FW. It is Crockett's Tavern that you can get take out from. We did get the fried chicken one night and it was OK. But you have to catch a bus there you can't drive up and park :scared1: You can't drive and park anywhere at FW except the gift shop(15 minute parking) and the front desk area. It was horrible. It just wasn't what I expected. I will stay at a hotel from now on even if I have to stay off property.

We love P'cola. We go over there every other weekend(I'm off every other weekend). We have a good time there. It is funny that living in Florida that you will be further away from Disney, but the discount you get by being a Florida resident will ease that extra hour drive :rotfl2:. P'cola is a good place to live. It is like any other city so you have some bad areas. I have family that lives there and they live in good areas.

I hope his business goes well. There are lots of little rivers in and around Pensacola.

No you aren't sick. I take my chocolate binges in spurts. I use to love chocolate.

Thanks about the family. I ordered my photopass cd a few days ago so I should have that soon too. I hate that I paid $99 for it and I think we ended up with like 20 pix and only a few of them worth anything. I may do the same thing for my Christmas cards. I am bad about not sending cards though :guilty:.

Thanks for joining in. I am just not a camping type person and that was the feel of the cabins. I didn't like the one bathroom with the 6 of us either. That got to be pretty hairy at times :rolleyes1.

I was shocked to see Dallas' feet, it really surprised me. Our mousekeeper was good about leaving lots of towels and cleaning the kitchen, in fact she rewashed the dishes I had already washed.

It was white chocolate filling and it was so good. The cake was moist and didn't have a overpowering chocolate taste.

I really enjoyed the meet. I may set up a session when we go back in September for the Poly. I am wanting some good outside pix and it not look like a hurricane is on its way :lmao:.

I couldn't believe how bad it was at CM. If it had not been for Dallas I would have walked out. I can get a pancake at McDonalds :lmao:. The characters were really good about spending time with us. I think maybe that is what had them so far behind on time. I am trying to come up with my ADRs for September and 1900 is where I want to go for breakfast.

I went to the MMM thread and copied a couple of the pix to have. I had my card scanned and had three pix of Dale, Dallas and me taken. I forgot to have it scanned again for the group pix :scared1:.

Aww....I'm so sorry. The camping threads on this board are really good for giving you a feel for what it is, which is a cabin in the woods, very very camping like (not really if you are a camper but....NOT hotel resort like). So if that is what you like then the cabins would be a total bust. We are campers and tend to do condo's wherever we go so it was perfect for us, I loved not having to worry about whether the kids were bothering anyone in a room next door, above or below.

We had groceries delivered before we got there and these boards really helped us prepare for what it is like, I'm so sorry it wasn't what you expected. The lack of a CS is a big complaint everyone has about the Fort, I'd have to agree, I really really hope they fix it one of these days.

The one bathroom was tight but I was surprised by how large it was and the extra vanity in the bedroom was a godsend for us, it became the girls makeup and hair area :)

I'm sorry you didn't like the cabin either. We're outdoorsy type people, so it was awesome for me!! Even one bathroom with 5 of us wasn't so bad. we were only there 2 nights tho, september will be a test, even tho there will only be 4 of us then, but my sister and the bathroom counts as like 5!! HAHA She's a girly girl, so she takes LOOOONG shower...see the ptr about the shampoos!!! HOLY CRAP!! Anyways, have fun with laundry, I gotta do that here soon to!! BLAH!!!

I went to the camping thread when I first started planning in November, but I didn't go back :guilty:. We were in 2429 so that put us in the middle of the loop and it was a long walk to anywhere and with all the rain it was horrible. We walked to the comfort station at the small pool to do laundry and it started POURING on us on the way back so needless to say we got soaked. Good thing we didn't have the clean clothes with us :scared1:.

We went to Walmart and Publix and bought groceries. It was nice having the kitchen so we could eat a lot of our meals there and save money. The full size fridge was great. I liked that they had all the pots and pans I needed to use too.

My DD used the vanity in the bedroom to put on her makeup. I took the bathroom and by our 3rd or 4th day I just didn't even try to fix my hair or put on makeup because I knew it would be a waste of time :sad2:.

I really wish they had a CS restaurant.

You would think I would be an outdoorsy type too. When I was growing up we would go camping and fishing. We spent lots of time outside cooking out, going to the river, boating. I guess I just kinda outgrew it all and now I like staying in a hotel room or suite.........:rotfl:. Your sister sounds like Amanda. She has to have a certain type shampoo and conditioner and when she goes in the bathroom you can forget about getting in for at least 2 hours :scared1:

Have a good time with the laundry .

I finally made it over here, sorry it took me so long. I've been so busy, i'm not even getting my own updates on my TR up in a timely fashion. I'm trying though!

Just read through your whole report, looks great so far. It really is a bummer that all of that rain came in that week. I wish you all would have been there the week before with me, we had hot weather all week.

Love the pictures from the photo shoot, I would really like to do that next year!

Up again with aching hip and arm, from sleeping on the couch and we get ready to head to AK. Tyler and I have an ADR for the Yak and Yeti and Matt and Amanda are going to DTD today. We do the whole Niko thing and we take him some ham to eat and yes, I had to hand feed him. It was raining so we put Niko in the van with us to feed him :lmao:.

We get to AK and of course the seats on the tram are soaking wet with puddles in the seat. For a brief moment the sun came out, and I mean brief moment. We get in the park and of course it starts raining again and I am freezing. I went in the gift shop near the TOL and was going to buy a hoodie or something and :scared1: the sticker shock. The cheapest one I could find was like fifty bucks. So I bought a long sleeve shirt and put it on over my shirt.

We rode Dinosaur and headed over to Dinoland. Dale and Tyler were going to ride Primeval Whirl but the wait was 60 minutes and they said it wasn't worth it. We headed over to EE so Tyler and Dale could ride it.

OK enough with the lame pix. I had to put the camera up because..............can you guess? I will give you 3 guesses and the first two don't count. Dale and Tyler come out of the ride and it brought the floods with them. It was still 30 minutes before our ADR, but we went on to the Yak and Yeti anyway. They took us in after about a 5 minute wait.

Inside the restaurant waiting area.

Can you tell he didn't want his picture taken?
DSCF2468.jpg

They don't accept the TIW card but they do give a 10% discount to pass holders. That is a better deal because they don't add the tip automatically. I was really bad about forgetting to take pix this trip. But here is what I took.

My very good banana daiquiri
DSCF2470.jpg

The lone pot sticker. Tyler and I shared this appy, but I forgot to get the pic until we were almost finished. They were very yummy and the soy lime dipping sauce was fantastic. I made the waiter leave it......:rotfl:

My chicken lo mein.
DSCF2473.jpg

Tyler's Crispy Honey Chicken. I forgot to get the picture again. We shared the food. This was some very good food.
DSCF2474.jpg

Our left over dessert. We couldn't finish all of it. Chocolate Brownie Sundae for 2, it was big enough for 3 people.
DSCF2475.jpg

Our total was like $62.00 after my 10% discount. Dale and Dallas was waiting when we came out and they had just gotten off the safari and they were wanting to to to Pizzafari to eat. We walked over and it was packed. There were no tables. A really nice guy told us he and his family were leaving and we could have their table. Dale and Dallas got pizza, bread sticks, salads :lmao:(neither one eat salad), and chocolate cake. When they fiished eating we decided to leave the park and go back to the cabin. We were tired and I really wanted to take a nap. I hadn't slept much the whole time we were there. Amanda and Matt stayed at DTD all day. They ate at PH and Amanda said it was good this time around. The only ride I rode at AK was Dinosaur :sad2:

So, sorry about the rain... the food sounded good...and in my opinion you rode the best ride there...I also like safari...quick tip the animals are out when it rains
sounds like ya'll had more rain than we did; did not think that was possible

Dale and Dallas both said it was the best safari they had ever been on. They did get to see a lot of the animals. Dale said they saw two of the white rhinos fighting. I was soooooooo tired of rain. It got worse Wednesday :sad2:

My hubby says Yak and Yeti was his favorite meal of the trip. I would almost have to agree. I think the rain affected out trips to AK the most-so much we missed.
