Ft. Wilderness Cabins becoming DVC?

A surprised indeed! I had to double check the calendar date as it does sound more like an April fools joke.

With some road and boat reopenings it wouldn't be completely inconceivable that they could roll into the CCV association. Otherwise contrary to the Reflections being dead conclusion it might be a toe in the water to determine if they should resurrect it.

So they’re really going to be selling Aulani, Riviera, VDH, Poly, FWV, and possibly even VGF all at once? Why???
Depending on the opening it's very possible that VGF will be done selling by that time or close to it. It seems like Disney is looking more and more towards the cash cow that DVC has been for them and if they're seeing a decline in hotel bookings then selling off the lodging for 50 years is a tried and true way to compensate.

I'm curious to see the point charts for this. 1 bedroom point charts? Will they be closer to a Saratoga springs 1 bedroom point chart or copper creek 1 bedroom or like a Riviera 1 bedroom?
I'm afraid the point charts will be comparable to Poly bungalows and CCV cabins. If so, we'll have a ton more points flooding the system with the cabins out of reach for most owners, putting even more stress on smaller units. Hope not, though.

I'm of the belief that Disney is perfectly happy with Aulani NEVER selling out. They make serious bank off cash reservations, and if you ever look at occupancy, the cash rooms sell out almost as fast as the declared rooms.
If they have any regrets about Aulani, they may wish it wasn't DVC at all 🤷‍♂️

I'd guess more in line with THV point charts. Possibly a little less depending on the setup.

They'd never be able to sell a resort that was only 100+ points per night. Nobody would buy in.

I have to believe they would build these so that the cash price would be somewhat reasonable (by Disney standards), not once-in-a-lifetime/bucket list levels like CCV Cabins and bungalows. But what do I know. I'm sure the few "Grand Villa" style cabins will be eye popping, but not all 350 of them

I don't think they will roll this into CCV or any other existing association.

30 points per night average x 350 units ≈3.8 million points to sell
at 40 points ≈5.1 million
at 50 points ≈6.4 million

This I am excited for. I believe this would be the first dog friendly DVC units. Perhaps my greatest Disney Trip was 2007 with my wife and 4 kids (7,7,5 and 2) in a Wilderness Cabin. Only reason we have not gone back is it’s a poor use of points on a cabin now that we are DVC.

If that were true, they could have sold it, including to themselves, as they could any DVC property. Covid gave them an obvious excuse.

I hope so. I would love to stay at FW again. I've not been there since I bought DVC.
Even with this, THV sleep 9 and have 3 bedrooms, these will only sleep 6 and have one bedroom. I don't think these are comparable.

Also, if they are selling this property, if you made all these units in the 300-400 point range for a week's stay, how do you convince people to purchase that size of a contract? I mean, I am sure that some will, but many won't be able to do that, dropping $60-70k at one time...
