Ft. Lauderdale Beach Hotel??

We are going on a cruise in 2 weeks and are staying a night in Ft. Lauderdale. Would like to stay on the beach, does anyone have a suggestion for a nice hotel - there are so many and I don't know what to pick.

Would love any suggestions!

I went and looked at the changes online. It does look like a complete re-do. We stayed there in '02, and it was nasty! We still talked about what a dump it was and how looked like it stepped out of the 70's.
It looks very nice now!

We are local but still try to stay there as much as we can! Beautiful hotel and it has the best of both worlds- a beautiful pool (and a lazy river!) that overlooks the beach.
