Frustration to the Max!

I am so frustrated with all this ADR process. I don't understand why Disney can't publish the park hours at the 90 day mark so their guests can plan a "vacation" with less stress. It seems to me it would be a win-win situation for them. They wouldn't have to go to so much trouble changing ressies over and over if they would only give the necessary info in the first place.
Does anyone have any insight to why this is so difficult--is there something I'm missing?
Sorry, had to vent. Thanks for listening

Well, I think it has to do with attendance. If room bookings are up, they will keep the parks open later. If bookings are down, they will close earlier. I assume October's hours are so late because of the Food and Wine festival and MNSSHP. I think I read somewhere that last Octobers hours didn't come out until the 4th of the month so here's hoping it's today!

Its just a guess, but I'd image it has to do with attendance trends and scheduling of employees. If, for example, attendance is dropping a bit, not meeting expectations, they want to have the ability to change MK closing from 7PM to 6PM. That doesn't sound like much, but can you imagine the hourly employee cost to run MK. Its got to be HUGE. Another consideration might be how many employees they have at any given time. They may try to schedule based on having enough cast members. These are, as I said, just guesses.

I don't see it as all that big a hassle. I made my plans based upon last year's hours. If they are significantly different when they come out, I'll make the choice to either change them or go with what I have. Some things, I won't be able to change so I'll go with what I have... I'm just hoping they stick with something similar to historical hours and historical emh days. We already know MNSSHP hours and days so no problem there.

I find that last years schedule is a good predictor of this years (with the exception of Spring Break time). I've always used last years times to plan this years vacation, and have been right every time, right down to parade times and fireworks. Here's a link if you'd like to try it.

It's hard to predict days over spring break because spring break is on different days for different schools and differs from year to year.

Let us hope this October's hours are not all that different from last years as far as emh nights and the like. I scheduled to avoid them.

I'm not sure which schedule to use. If I use the projected times from this website--plugging in my days-Nov. 3-8, 2005 I get way different times than if I look at the historical calender on the intercot.com site. I adjusted the calender to project forward. The info is different enough to really mess up my plans. Any suggestions on which may be more accurate? TIA Deb
Those of you that have used one or the other with success please tell me which one.

It's simple.

They don't want us to be able to plan everything down to the last bite.

They wish we didn't plan ahead at all.

I've always used the Intercot info with great success. I used Dec. 2003 schedules to plan a Dec. 2004 trip. The times for the parks and shows/fireworks/Spectro were exactly the same, right down to the 2nd showing of Sprectro on certain evenings, and the adjusted dates/hours for MVMCP. When projected forward from 2003 to 2004, it was identicle in everyway.

Now, you may not have as much luck, especially if Disney decides to mix things up this year. But it's worked great for me in the past.

I think this is my only Disney complaint. I wish they would release park hours at the 90 day mark but they don't. I will have to deal with it. I would also be happy if they had it so you could not make ADR's until 30 days out. That way the hours would be out.

I have to admit, I'm a little more stressed about it this time than I ever have been in the past, for 2 reasons:
1) The MYW dining package is making the ADR's so much harder to get than they usually are
2) The changing EMH schedule. In the past, before they went to the split morning/evening schedule, I always knew what park would have EMH when, because it was always the same. Now it varies constantly, so it's anybody's guess. Whether you want to take part in EMH or avoid the park that's having it, you really need to know when it is to make a good touring plan.

These two things combined are where the real problem happens - you can't know where to schedule your ADRs until you know about EMHs, but if you wait till the EMH schedule is posted, then you may not be able to get the ADRs you want! It really is a bit of a Catch 22.

I'm getting the website but not the right page. If that is happening to you, click on the folder at the top that says "info central" scroll down to park hours and then click on historical hours.

I planned my meals around parades and fireworks and haven't had to change a thing. I used last year's hours.
Hopefully emh comes out soon and I still don't have to change a thing.
