can someone please explain to me WHY Disney isn't doing the free meal plan Dec. 2-10th? ANd all the other dates are covered? Is something going on that week?

Supply & Demand.

WDW uses promo's to fill rooms. They probably have enough reservations during this week not to offer FD. I *think* this is when Pop Warner comes down for competition (football/cheerleading).

From what I know living here, Dec is generally not a slow time. Holiday crowds have been growing more and more over the years.

Yes, holiday travel. They must feel like they don't need to entice visitors to the parks those weeks because traffic is usually high during that time.

LOL You got a standard reservati onist on the phone when you called Disney. They may or maynot have any idea what's going on except what pops up on their screen.

Kimberle is absolutely right, free dining, codes and pins are marketing tools to get people into the parks. Not guarantees. they either work for you or they don't. If Disney can fill the rooms without a discount that's what they will do.

Seems to me like nowadays there is always something going on at WDW...some group, some event...I think Disney has done a wonderful job making their previous slow times not so slow!

I've been that week...pretty big week. Either try to move it or prepare for some crowds-not huge Christmas week crowds, but big ones.

I've been there that week and so has my sister. The crowds weren't that bad at all. It was a nice time of year to visit.

Agreed. FD has changed the atmosphere of WDW. Sub par food, crazed people rushing to ADR's, etc.

And, I went that week in 2008 - only week in December to not have FD. Everything (hotels, restaurants) were booked to capacity. However, the crowds at the parks were VERY manageable. We were able to see everything. I wouldn't worry....

My week was part of the most recent extension.

we are going Nov 28-Dec 7
I called yesterday to get an adjustment. We are now saving $781 off our original rate. My inlaws are saving $1100.

So not sure why it has that week blacked out.
