I was on line ahead of time and kept refreshing every second waiting for the Maleficient pin to show up today. It never showed up on my computer and in less than 6 minutes was sold out. The only way I saw it was when I clicked on the Dispins link to completed auctions.

According to Pinpics, it sold out in 25 seconds! That's what happens when you allow someone to buy as many as they want, and have the capital to cover the cost. Then, you get to turn around and score a profit!
This seems to happen on all of the Maleficent and Stitch PINS. Oh well!!

For some reason, I have never been able to see the live auctions. even with a cable internet connection. So I don't even try anymore..

There should be some sort of limit though...you're saying that people are buy 100 or 200 or more pins at a time?

Easily, they buy 200 or so at a time. Happens to Stitch, Maleficent, and most of the Tinks (the last two, it didn't). Because it's ebay, and they're doing it Dutch, they can't do limits. Disney (theoretically) is working on this, but hasn't figured out a way around it.

That one went quick. No Stitches or Tinks today and Maleficent being LE 500, people bought multiples.

Ebay doesn't allow limits on bidding amounts. DA won't be able to do anything about it as long as they continue to sell on ebay. If they sold the PINS on their own website, they could make the rules and do whatever they wanted.

These rules are not set in stone. Doesn't Disney have enough clout to convince ebay to make an allowance to this rule for their auctions? Disney does not seem to care that other people are profiting from the sale of their pins. Again, they are only thinking about the short-term, and not the long-term effects on pin collecting.

The rules from ebay are set in stone, right now. Why should one seller (Disney) have special privledges that other sellers do not? Ebay has been in the auction game a lot longer than anyone else. Disney has only been in it for a short time. There are a few sellers that bring in as much revenue as Disney does and have a better feedback rating. How many sellers do you think they would tick off if they changed the rules for one seller and not for all of them??

Yes, Disney does have pull with ebay, but think about it. Disney's goal is to sell the pins. Whether Joe Smoe buys them all or 1000 people each buy one, they are reaching their goal. I really don't think Disney is pushing this too much with ebay. They are blaming ebay because those ARE the rules and it takes the pressure off them. Passing the buck so to speak.

Now, that's not to say that ebay won't break that stone and change their rules for Disney. In the world of commerce anything is possible.
