Frustrated with lack of party dates.

Also do they typically have parties on the same day as AM EMH? Because it shows Fridays as their 8am morning and if its thats a party day that seems weird to me.
Yes they did have parties on AM EMH days in the past-we definitely went to MK in October 2014 on a Thurs (which was a party day) and they also had EMH (opened at 8 that day)

I am really hoping that they start the party a week early this year and then we will do the Sunday party. I am hoping to use the Friday EMH in the morning but if we have to do that party we wont be able too. If Tuesday is the first party I really wanted to avoid that. This is hard to plan. Disney needs to get their crap together and release dates.

Yep. And if you look at the Sept park hours up above (the Walt Disney World...parks...hours links) it has MK as closing at 7pm on what I am guessing are party nights.

from that map it looks like the first party will be sept 2 (Friday) but two years ago they tried a party on labor day Monday and lost tons of money with so few people in the parks. I really don't think they will do that mistake again

Big part of how my family does Disney World. We can only ride IaSW so many times when we go to WDW a lot. Plus my kids are older teens and they like food.
About 1 in 5 trips to WDW is a "food" trip, so I get it. But on our "food" trips we get everything that we want only booking a few months out. I cannot imaging booking 6 months out.

I can't remember the original post but they probably want BOG and that's a tough one to book. There are a couple I would book at 180 days out, but I agree with you...we don't even book ADRs much anymore and like to wing it when we're at WDW. We are able to get a lot of good TS seatings on the day of. But Ohana, BOG, Cali Grill...those we'd need to pre-book.

Interesting. I wonder if they are cracking down on people detting ADRs right before 7pm so they could be in the park during the party. Though I know it makes for frustrating planning for some of you, this would be a change I would be happy to see. Last year they let you book up until 6:55pm I believe it was (if you didn't have a party ticket) which would allow you to still be in the park during party hours.

While someone with a 6:55 ADR would still be in the park during party hours, they would be inside a restaurant where they wouldn't be able to enjoy the party activities. And people with ADRs that end after the party starts are typically escorted out so that they can't stay and enjoy the party without buying the ticket.

I do totally agree that Disney should have these released (or at least tentatively, saying they're subject to change) before 180 days.

If you're looking at going around the beginning of the parties, can you choose later in the week and plan on that? I know we did MNSSHP in 2014 and MVMCP in 2015, both around the beginning dates, I was able to use previous party dates to narrow down what I thought the schedule would be and choose from there.

Wow, some of you really take your food seriously. :duck:
Yep. We go once every 6-7 years and we want BOG for Dinner and it's almost impossible to get in without ADR. So yeah. If you don't do a dining plan or have any character meals or TS meals its not a big deal, but this is a huge damper.

There are less than a handful of restaurants at WDW that we cannot book at 60 days. We always get Ohana, CRT, Boatwrights, etc within 60 days. Never tried BOG as the menus doesn't interest us, but that would be one of the few that require that kind of lead time, and then only because Disney lets people book that early.

It obviously matters to some. If it doesn't matter to you, then that's fine.

Party size plays a huge role here too. Booking for 2 or 3 (even 4) is easier than our family of 5 for example.

Agreed, but when we can book for 4, not 5, and know that we will have a 5th, we book for 4 and just show up with the 5th. We have never had a problem being seated this way.

When you get past 5 it becomes a much bigger problem. I wouldn't risk showing up with 2 extra in my party.

I've found I have much more success searching for 6 when I need seating for 5.

I've found booking for 2 is harder than 3. It seems to go by table size, they appear to only take adrs for what size tables are available. tables are generaly, 2, 4, 6 or more people so try looking for that multiple and adjust the adr the next day for the real number or just show up with less people.. (i've done it both ways with no problems.)

I am actually not worried about BOG as we are not going to be in MK for any dinners except for the party night and we wont be eating there. We ate there for lunch last time and I wasn't that impressed. I would like to do dinner and see the Beast but this trip its just not priority. But for other ADR planning which is important to me I need to book. Depending on what day we do party that shifts most of the other days around as I am using which parks to go to on certain days based on Easywdw. Some still line up no matter what night the party is but others get moved around. I booked as much ADR as I could and I will go back and delete the ones I don't need but I also was un able to book some because I had others booked and not knowing what park I'll be in. No its not important to some and but it is to others. I enjoy planning ahead of time and I expect Disney to have information out so its guest can do so. They want the parks full all the time but don't want to give people the info to plan properly.

We got a BoG lunch for our October trip last year. It was my first time going there since the place opened. For me, it was the biggest let down of the trip. SO OVERRATED. There was no ambiance or magic-y feeling. It was like being at a cattle auction or school cafeteria. The food was good but ya'll will never have to worry about my group taking up one of the ADR's because we definitely won't be going back.
