I am doing induction really faithfully and am in moderate ketosis well between 40-80 according to the stick. This morning starts day 5 and I haven't lost a single pound. Actually on day 3 I had gained 2 pounds. And today I am back where I started.

This is horrible. I have had headaches pretty much for 5 straight days, have not gotten the extra energy burst everyone else seems to get-just the opposite. Yesterday was my first day without a nap.

This just isn't worth it if I don't loose weight. Please tell me this works!

I am ready to pull out the pasta and cry! HELP!

Are you drink LOTS of water?? There are very different views on this matter but I have read and try to go by this: Take whatever you weigh in pounds and divice that in half and then drink that many ounces each day. For example..if you weigh 200 pounds you should drink 100 ounces of water/splenda sweetened drinks.Try to get most of it in water though.

The only other things I can think of is make sure you are not eating too many veggies. Many people say to put what you eat in Fitday.com and you can track any hidden carbs.

Also it could be that you need to do the FatFast. Some peoples' metobolism is different and this is supposed to help. I think someone on the boards did this and I am pretty sure if you go to Atkins website you can find out more about it and how to do it.

Hang in there though. This Way Of Eating(WOE) does work and I am probably the most skepticle person on the face of the earth. I was having a terrible week this week. I started out the week showing a gain and I was freaking out. I got on the scale today and I am showing a 3 pound loss.

Did you take your measurements?? You could be losing inches instead of pounds first!!!

I'm on day 8 of induction and feeling bummed after the scale showed a gain of 2 pounds today. I'm doing what the list told me to do! I understand your frustration. I don't even know if I'm in ketosis b/c I'm too cheap to buy the sticks! So, at least you know you're doing SOMETHING right!

Hang in there...exercise your brains out tonight! Maybe that'll help!

I second the water. I find a real difference when I drink water, and when I don't. The headaches do go away, and you will feel better. I have more energy than I have in quite some time. Hang in there--it will get better.

Okay just hold on here. It is way to early for you to be getting frustrated. (I'm trying to look stern, am I looking stern?)

First of all, anyone following any new eating plan should measure themselves on day 1 as well as weigh themselves. This is especially true for people following the Atkins nutritional plan. Why? Because we often lose inches instead of pounds.

Secondly, don't weigh yourself everyday. You are just asking for disappointment whether you are male or female. Please don't weigh yourself everyday. Minniespal only weighed herself at the end of induction and that was a very wise decision on her part she saw a loss of 13.5 pounds after two weeks, if she had weighed herself everyday she would very well have seen a yo yo pattern of up and down. Way to go Minniespal :teeth:

Thirdly, get the ketostix Firecracker. If you test and find that you are in ketosis then you know you are losing weight because you are burning your own fat for fuel. Just get the smaller package of the ketostix and test once a week if you are cheap ;)

It doesn't matter what color the stick turns, if it changes color at all you are as deep into ketosis as you can get. Sometimes you are in ketosis and the stick doesn't change color but any color change is proof positive.

Now, go and measure yourselves right now. Stop obsessing over a number on a scale. That is not your true goal. Your true goal is to get smaller not lighter. Do you really care how much you weigh if you wear a smaller size? You want to lose your fat-- just weighing yourself isn't going to reflect that accurately. Your Body Mass Index number is a better indicator of that success.

Measure yourself, stop weighing so often and thanks for coming here to WISH to share this frustration. Look how much you have helped me!

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement. I am just feeling down and HUNGRY adn needed to vent. Part of my frustrations is that I don't eat most of the foods (no cheese, pork, seafood) that are allowed during induction so I am really bored with my menu.

firecracker- I got my ketostix at Eckards drug store for $12.50 for 50 sticks.

I will measure as soon as I get done putting my pot rack up.

Thanks again everyone for allowing me to vent.

You don't like the foods allowed on induction? If you are hungry--eat! Eat as much of the allowed food as you want don't go hungry. Eat every few hours. You should be losing your appetite soon if you are in ketosis.

Just hang in there, you can do this, we're all going to help you.

That is exactly right!! Eat if you are hungry just don't eat until you are miserable. Look at the recipes on this board and the ones at www.lowcarbfriends.com and see if there is something you can make that willl give you a variety.Try not to get bored. This week we have been experimenting with different recipes. Some have been good and others...well,let's just say I don't think we will be having those again!!!

I have to be the world's pickiest eater. The only veggies I will eat that are "legal" are green beans, wax beans,(broccoli and cauliflower and they have to have cheese sauce on them) There are days that I do not eat any veggies so I won't get sick of them!!

Work on some recipes of your own. Something that you like but that you can adapt to become a "legal" item.

If it is something sweet you are craving eat some sugar free jello.

Hang in there eeyore :)

I totally agree with nativetxn on the smaller not lighter thing.

I'm on day 8 and I havn't lost as much as I would like (7 pounds so far) but my pants are definetly fitting looser.

ps...I wouldn't be able to make it through induction without CHEESE! *gasp*Man, I bet you are tired of the same foods. :(

y'all are right I would be actually happier with smaller vs lighter :)

I am getting really sick of chicken and steak allthough I do eat some sausage. I also only like lettuce celery and peppers on the acceptable veggie list. No eggs or cheesefor me either.

I am staying strong but it is hard :)

Can you tolerate parmesan cheese? There is a wonderful recipe in the recipe thread for fried chicken tenders. We love them.

Very easy to make and just so tasty. You marinate in cream and "bread" with seasoned parmesan cheese. That's what makes it crispy. You can find the complete recipe on this page HERE. Just scroll down a few posts.

Glo rolls her chicken in the parmesan. It works well but I like to put my parmesan in a ziploc bag and shake the chicken in it, it seems to adhere just the right amount and looks really pretty when you fry it golden brown.

It was very difficult for me to loose with only 20 grams of carb a day on induction, so now I eat less than 15-grams of carbs per day.

I also learned a lot about hidden carbs in the first few weeks.

If one serving of food has zero carbs, it could really be .9 grams. And they add up. I stopped using worstershire steak sauce because the serving size was only one teaspoon.

You can do it.

God bless you, best wishes, and encouragement, RaySharpton:)

Wow it is nice to know someone is just like me. I just started my second week and I am a scale freak. I love to weigh myself on the scale everyday. I know I shouldn't but I do. I did use the keto sticks on my fourth day and it turned dark purple so it gave me a little hope. I still hated that the scale would not turn. Finally, day 7, I got on the scale and 5 lbs gone. Not only was I excited but motivated to keep going. Better yet my tight shorts actually were buttoned today without having to lie on the bed. Today was day 8 and I am going strong. It will happen. Hang in there, I never heard of anyone doing this diet and it not working. Check the time of the month. I know my llittle friend who comes once a month can hold on to alot of water weight.

But I really like the saying smaller not lighter. My new words to live by.
