Hi all! Anyone have any recommendations for some good frugal living or other budget minded sites? Love reading tips that I may not have thought of and other people's ways of saving money. Thanks!

It's amazing what she can accomplish for her family of 11. Even things like harvesting shower water or AC condensate to water her garden. Recipes, how-to's, encouragement, everything!

I subscribe to moneysavingmom, she does daily emails with some freebies and budget ideas. Some recipes, grocery tips, etc.

check with your local library (or any you are eligible to join-we live near a university and are eligible for membership as a community member) to see what they offer for checkout beyond books-

musical instruments
power tools
appliances
recreational equipment
seeds (free) and planting tools
camping gear....

many, many other items all free for check out.


the same libraries often offer free day passes to area museums and parks (state parks).


if near a university see what free/low cost opportunities exist-

cost of visiting a rock climbing wall place near us? $20 per person. cost of visiting the university rec center? $8 per person (up it to $12 and you get access all day to the pools, ice skating rink and fitness center). kids want to swim during the summer? community pool charges $4 per person, university offers a family pass (no limit on family size) for 10 visits/$64. shoot-for $65 a month a family (again-no size limit) can get an annual pass that allows unlimited pool, rock climbing, ice skating...that's a pretty frugal price to entertain kids.

I LOVE Christine and Mindy! Mindy is local to me so I love that when she posts videos with prices, I know that's the price I'm paying as well. And Christine and her family are literally my family life goals (all their amazing outdoor adventures she does for such reasonable amounts). I love how transparent she is about costs and finances. She also has a podcast that is amazing.
I'll have to check out Frugal Money Saver.

Frugal Money Saver is a different vibe- her one son is grown and doesn't live at home, she's retired, etc. I'm 38 and have school aged kids, so I naturally relate to Mindy and Christine more, but Emmy at FMS is a good reminder that life can be simple. She is WAY more hardcore than I can be (she mends her socks lol... I'm not at that level) but she seems so content in her life, which is lovely.

And, I cannot recommend enough the book Your Money or Your Life. Some of it is outdated, but the main concepts are brilliant and eternal.

I enjoy watching FrugalFitMom, Jamerill Stewart, Jordan Page and The Budget Mom on YouTube. I also follow all of them on Instagram.

I also really enjoy Ramit Sethi’s podcast “I Will Teach You to Be Rich”, which he also posts on YouTube. It’s like couples counseling money style and it’s fascinating. There are more episodes on podcasts apps (I use apple podcasts) than there are on YouTube.

I'm also a big fan of The Budget Mom and use her budget binders. We've been big into cash stuffing these days and she does a lot of budgets that real people send in, so it feels like "that could be me".

I also read a book a little while ago about having a one year spending fast. Can't remember what it was called, but there's a Facebook group I really enjoy.
