Frozen will probably take over maelstrom

The whole possibility of this happening sickens me. I was able to get a FP+ in early September but...could this be my last ride? After Spaceship Earth got ruined, this became my next favorite Epcot ride. I don't want a Frozen anything in Epcot. It belongs in the Magic Kingdom.

Latest I hear is Disney wants Norway to spend $9mil to freshen up their pavilion; if not, Disney intends to change it the way they want.

I agree that Frozen is better suited for Fantasyland. It being such a huge movie and franchise, I think they should do a little bit more with it than just a ride refurb. I imagine Elsa's castle in Fantasyland one day with it's own ride and restaurant. Seeing the way disney scrambled to get the Frozen Summer thing going for some more income at Hollywood studios seems like just the beginning for the Frozen franchise.

The response has been huge so far so I'm sure they will invest the money to make a permanent location for Frozen and I think it will be bigger than the Norway pavilion. They even couldn't keep Anna and Elsa in Epcot because the demand was just too much for that small area to handle. This is all just speculation of course but I think the Norway pavilion is safe in terms of a Frozen invasion.

Really? If true such a heavy-handed approach is sad. Norway certainly has the right to be portrayed in a meaningful way just like the other countries.

Disney, get over yourself.

That is being reported by screamscape from a news video in Norway. Right now their is no confirmation from either disney or Norway that 9 million is the magic number or that they are in talks.

When I made my FP reservations last night for my 9/25-10/4 trip, Maelstrom was not a listed FP attraction for the last half of my trip. I could reserve a FP for 9/26, but it wasn't there as an option for 9/29 or 10/2 (the only days I checked on).

We had early morning breakfast reservations in Norway, and while we were waiting to be seated - some imagineers were out and about walking around Norway.

Completely agree, World Showcase is exactly that - a showcase of the world. Fantasy characters belong in FantasyLand.

I am 100% confident they will not turn Maelstrom into a Frozen ride. It must remain about Norway. What they can, and probably will, do is put some small references to Frozen in the ride in a few spots. Nothing big, just an Anna here, an Olaf in the background, maybe an ice castle on a mountain. Just a few things fans can look for without affecting the theme. Or, much less likely, do one whole scene about Frozen. They know it must remain about Norway.
