Frozen will probably take over maelstrom

Maelstrom is fine as a ride, but it's always been a "what the heck, let's ride Maelstrom" sort of thing for me. There's just not too much to it. It could use a refresh, and I'd definitely consider this an upgrade.

I'm betting there is a Frozen attraction in the works (which I will be super excited over!) but I doubt it would be replacing or updating Malestrom. Epcot hasn't ever really had many character/movie based attractions (with the exception of the Mexico ride).

Have you been around lately? Disney is all about cheap and fast at the moment. Lots of "insiders" say it's coming. I wouldn't doubt that a redo of maelstrom to frozen is in the works. Norway is sort of the home of frozen so if you were going to do it would make sense.

This would disappoint me but if they keep it low key and don't have singing snowmen and dancing princesses throughout then I guess that I could handle it. I'm a quarter Norwegian and very proud of their culture (Viking cruelty aside) and I will be quite sad if they dilute this with fantasy.

Please Disney, at least leave the café alone! It would be the only thing left.

Ya, because those trolls aren't fanstasy!

With the most recent news of Frozen: Summer Fun - Live at Disney's Hollywood Studios, I'm now looking forward to the rumors for Frozen being brought to Hollywood Studios!

Perhaps Elsa will put a snowstorm over the ToT?!
Or the rumor about TGMR going away is true and it will become a Frozen themed attraction?!
Or a Frozen stage show to replace Beauty and the Beast!?
Or maybe the American Idol Experience will become a permanent Frozen sing-a-long venue (parents will LOVE that!)?!?
Or don't worry parents - Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post will have a real Sauna for you to use to escape the Florida heat (and your children!)?!
Or Elsa will freeze the hat everyone hates (I like it) down and she will construct her ice castle in its place?!
Or no more fire in Lights! Motor! Action! because Elsa freezes the fire.
Or ice skating will be permanent and they'll let guest skate around an Arendelle themed "attraction"!?
Or or or or..... I actually didn't realize how easy and fun rumors are to make up.

Everyone - the above rumors are all true. I heard it from a reliable source.

Only problem I see... Where will the line go in Norway for a frozen ride at maelstrom?

That would be something that would be changed a new queue. Some were saying that they may work the queue into the Norway movie theater and do some work to the theater as well. Lost of things being talked about but it's supposedly still coming.

Since I had heard of this I never considered the implications of the lines becoming significantly longer for a Frozen attraction. I already dislike when I have to stand out in the sun for the current ride!

We did the ride 3 weeks ago. It was going to rain so we decided to ride it again (had not ridden it for several years). I think just a "little" Frozen would be beneficial for the kids. There are several places that just a glimpse of the movie would excite them. I know the first time we took our children…at the end they said…is it over? I am sure that first time riders still say the same thing, especially the kids.

They're Norwegian fantasy and part of their culture. I don't see Frozen in that manner at all.

From my understanding the movie was loosely based on a story which never specified a particular country and was written by a Danish writer. I guess that Denmark is close enough though. :confused3

Maelstrom is my #2 ride in all of Disney---yes- I'm strange! They better not mess it all up!

We rode the Maelstrom last week. For some reason I like it as well. It did seem shorter and to be honest looked a bit worn so a refurb would definitely help. I think a Frozen attraction would be much better suited for DHS. That place has nothing new. We now only spend a half a day there. Other than Toy Story which without a FP is nearly impossible to get on without waiting 2 hours there is nothing new. Love Muppets, Movie Ride but Beauty and the Beast, Indiana Jones have been the same shows for years and I find we just skip them now. What do you think will take over American Idol which I have heard will be closing In January? Just think this park really needs an update and more to do as well as a new restaurant. Just my opinion.

The only reason I ever go to DHS is because its only another 20 bucks for Florida residents ( if you add a 4th day to your park purchase ) sometimes. Which is about what its worth to me. So yes I agree DHS sucks and needs a very massive overhaul.

I like what is there, its just not enough. I say keep everything pretty much as is ( except the backlot tour ), but double the size of park with new stuff.

Right now its just a poor mans Universal Studious

There's lots of rumors, but the most popular is that the rumored [are we still calling it a rumor?] Star Wars Land will take over the area now occupied by American Idol, Indiana Jones, and Echo Lake. Supposedly there's a Plan B that moves this new section to what is now MuppetVision 3D and the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground, but the first plan is much more widely discusssed/acknowledged and, IMO, makes more sense.

Dont get me wrong guys, I absolutely adore Frozen. I certainly agree that it deserves to have an attraction all of its own but I have to be honest. I am in the boat with all those who do not want to see Maelstrom become a Frozen Attraction.

For me, the World Showcase has always been the most un-Disney yet still Disney area in the whole of WDW. It is very much Disneys take on the various countries that reside there but it doesn't really feature that much in the way of IPs and Characters and I love it for that.

Maelstrom really does need a refresh, at least it did during my last visit in 2010 but I don't think Frozen is the way to go here. I don't think any of the lands should be too heavily IP or character related. Each country has certain character elements but nothing too excessive, except for the Mexico pavilion with Donald but the difference is at least that features a film that was actually set in Mexico. Frozen, although inspired by Norway it is set in the fictional land of Arendelle.

I dunno, perhaps I am being too precious. Perhaps some Frozen elements would be cool but I think a full out Frozen attraction to replace Maelstrom is not the way to go.
