FROZEN Topiaries To Headline 2015 Flower & Garden Festival

The location of the topiaries is a good indication of where Disney's head is nowadays. They've already ruined Norway so why not stick all of that stuff there? The location they chose should have gone to primary characters like Mickey and the gang.

But that location at the entrance to World Showcase has been reserved for Disney's more current movies for a while. Cars 2 was there, Monsters U too.

The Future World entrance will have a vignette featuring Goofy, plus new topiaries of Chip and Dale. Mickey and Minnie had been outside Spaceship Earth for the past couple of years, I believe.

So I could say that that area is reserved for mediocre movies? ;)

Seriously, it might not be so tiresome if Frozen wasn't everywhere. I'll be glad when things simmer down a bit.

Hey, I'll take it as a sign of progress that a movie is going there that isn't a sequel. ;)

I have to be honest, i spent two weeks at Disney last month and I didn't feel i was getting Frozen crammed down my throat. They have one float in the parade, there's an Anna and Elsa meet (just one) in MK and they have the show at Studios which is cool.

I think the idea of the Frozen celebration to lite the castle is cool. It's not like it doesn't make sense. She's making a frozen wonderland.

I have no kids, like the movie and felt that there was appropriate level of representation there.

And I will be excited to see the Frozen display at Flower and Garden. I'll be at Disney so how can i not be happy.

The radio station that I'm listening to they were saying about how the movie made 1.2 billion so far. They went on to say that not all actors/actresses were paid appropriately. They said the person that played the 15 year old else was only paid $1000.00 for the time that she worked.

If the movie made 1.2b what does all of the other sales look like...

She was 15 and played the 12 year old Elsa. She worked one day and only had four lines. I would think $1000 is more that appropriate.

As I said I was just repeating what a radio station is talking about as their news story. The $1000 payout wasn't the point. It is the $1.2B in revenue that the movie only pulled in. That is the reason that they are doing so much with Frozen. It is a very huge financial pull for the company.

Anna and Elsa are apparently also featured at the Grand Floridian Gingerbread house this year.

Actually that doesn't bother me as much (there's plenty of space there to add in a Frozen display... unless they're completely redoing the house to look like an Arendale building or something...) - But they took out the It's a Small World-esque Gingerbread display at the CR for an obviously inferior Frozen display.

I respect and understand Disney captitalizing on Frozen. Strike while the iron's hot and all that - But I think in their rush to do so they're sacrificing tradition and, worse, quality just to get stuff out there.

How long before they start over-dubbing Walt's voice in Celebrate the Magic? - "And we all must remember one thing, that this was all started by two sisters love for each other." :rotfl:

(Oh, and after watching Big Hero 6 - they should replace the sorcerers hat with a partners-esque statue of Stan Lee and Groot)

I'm sure all actors wish they had worked for a percentage when movies blow up bigger than anyone ever dreamed, and they are glad they didn't when they bomb (although I'm sure child actors with small parts never get the choice). Robert Downey Jr. negotiated a percentage for The Avengers but nobody expected it to be the third biggest money maker ever; Disney hated writing him a $50 million check.

While everyone here is complaining about it, the Frozen attractions that Disney put in WDW (cheap and temporary as they may be) have probably driven attendance increases more than any other factor, even though they want to credit MDE. Even when it was just a small M&G in Epcot there were 5 hour waits, so there were that many people in the park doing nothing but waiting to see them.

And they get to ask for money back from the actors on the movies that bomb? The studio is taking the risks. When they miss they pay. When they hit it's a plus that means more movies will continue to get made.

I just saw pics of the gingerbread house at GF, and I can assure you it's not lol

well, they were at a point where the entire film franchise would have suffered if they weren't able to hire Robert Downey Jr., so they had to cough up what he wanted. Not sure a 15 year old who had 6 voice over lines for the youthful version of a character would be able to generate that kind of interest.

They never expected the film to do so well; odds are they offered him something like $35 million or a percentage and they were pleased at the time he took the percentage. :rotfl:

My point was that it was kinda dumb of the radio guy to suggest it was unfair, since actors rarely work to a percentage even when they get the chance precisely because they usually don't want to share the risk of the film's success. And yeah, an actor who doesn't really impact the success of the film like an extra or a child actor with just a few lines would never expect to get the chance.

I personally love all of the Frozen stuff in the theme parks and am constantly hoping for more timed with our upcoming vacations! We have no kids but I have not been this obsessed with a Disney movie since the Lion King. I was ecstatic when the extended the Frozen summer fun through September so we could see the fireworks on our trip in early Sept.
When we were there then we certainly didn't feel Frozen was being shoved down anyone's throat though. Maybe some people are sick of it but I would say that is a minority because there is certainly the demand for it within the parks and so on. It is Disney's most successful movie ever so it makes complete sense that they would capitalize on it. They are a business after all. And the people they are making the money from want it.
If you don't like Frozen or are sick of it that's fine, just avoid the Frozen stuff or ignore it when you can't. But a lot of us want to see it there and shouldn't not have it there to enjoy because some people don't. And children go crazy for it (even little boys) and they certainly deserve to have it there to enjoy.

Disney used to strike a nice balance between money grubbing and tradition and the next big thing. Of course, they want to make money. Every corporation does. However they used to not be so in your face about it.

I'm tired of Frozen too but I understand why Frozen needs to be there. I don't know why Frozen needs to be everywhere though. Why don't they just build a land or park or even a decent ride instead of piecemeal scattering it all around?

Bite your tongue! :scared1: DO NOT give Disney any ideas....they're getting ready to do some big changes in DHS.....please don't let it be Frozenland!

I personally didn't think Frozen was a good movie at all....great, fantastic, catchy music, yes, but the story had a really blotchy storyline. But those songs. I don't see the movie having the lasting power that Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, etc have had....but the music might.

I too wish Disney would move on to something else. The good news....the merchandise was clogging the shelves at WDW the past several weeks...meaning the feeding frenzy for these items is slowing and that usually means folks are moving on. The lines for the Big Hero movie characters was quite long this week (of course they're also the "newest" thing), so maybe folks are moving on....though to be honest, I'm not seeing a big white blobby character becoming the next craze....might change my mind once I see the movie of course.
