Frozen: This is going to be GREAT!!

I think the movie looks like it could be really good but WHY does the promise of success cause people to extoll virtues when they are still unseen? Let Disney earn the accolades first ... You have no personal interest in it do you?:confused3

I guess it is the same positive or negative. I extol virtues I have seen: Characters in trailers, reviews of people who have seen the movie, storyline, etc., but admit that I am a bit of a Polyanna. :thumbsup2

I do have a personal interest in it. I invest myself in Disney movies, good family movies, and movies that have good morals. I want this movie to do well and have been telling everyone that will listen that they should go see it.
:mic:
In fact, I'm organizing a group of families with kids to go see it! I want it to do well so I can have more of the same.

Looks great. I want to see it. :)

Have a question for y'all. Do you think it will dethrone "Hunger Games, Catching Fire" as the highest grossing movie of the week. I think it's going to be close. Saw "Catching Fire" last night. Great movie, and it should do well next weekend.

As much as I think Frozen will do very well, there is little chance it will unseat Hunger Games Catching Fire. HG has a huge fan base that has grown since the last movie and CF is better than the last movie. I am already hearing it will gross $160 million this weekend alone! Frozen will do fine, but will make most of its money over the long holiday season and it won't be front-loaded to opening weekend.

But you never know! Everybody go see Frozen TWICE! :)

Dont hate me but from the trailers i have seen it looks more like ice age meets tangled. I was never an ice age fan. I was planning on skipping this one in the theaters. Dh and kids have been trying to convince me to go. I apreciate all the good reviews! It makes me feel better spending the money for the theater.

I'm glad you're going to go. I think you'll enjoy the movie. I would very much like to hear your opinion after you see the movie. Especially since you didn't care for the trailer.

Enjoy!

Some people have already seen it and they say it's a really amazing movie!!! Can't wait!!!

My plans for this evening changed, and my wife and I were able to see it at 7:40 in 3D.

Very good movie. Good songs, good characters, good story. I liked the twist on the usual fairytale ideas of falling for your prince and true love's kiss. And I can't stop humming, "Let It Go."

My wife's favorite was Sven, the reindeer. I liked Olaf the snowman.

The visuals were stunning, the 3D was very good. I am anxious to compare the 2D version which I should see tomorrow.

This story can be dark at times, but is upbeat in it's conclusion. I expect to see it on broadway with a few more songs in a few years.

~Hey Pirate. :lovestruc DH & I are planning to take the kids to see Frozen on Thanksgiving morning -- it's going to be a super cold and messy Thanksgiving this year, so the Thanksgiving parade is out -- we'll just have to give our tickets away, so let me know if you want them. :rotfl: Anyway, if you decide to see this movie, I hope you post a review! pirate:

~Thanks for the review! :cool1: We're planning on seeing Frozen Thanksgiving morning or later in the evening, but I'm so tempted to squeeze it in tomorrow. I think I better purchase our seats in advance, so we can have a better selection. I'm so disappointed that Catching Fire has all of the IMAX, DBOX and E3 theaters. Unfortunately, luxury seating is only offered for Frozen in 2D, but I really wanted to see it in 3D. Anyway, I can't wait. :cool1:

I'm looking forward to it. It's going to be my little Elsa's first trip to the movies.

Just got back from seeing the movie... it was great!!! The music was wonderful and the story was very sweet, and not at all what I thought it was going to be! Great job, Disney!!

Took my 7 & 9 yo DDs to see it today. I haven't seen/wanted to see many princess (or other Disney) movies (no flames), but this storyline intrigued me; and it got a good review from the source I prefer. I genuinely enjoyed it and that is saying a lot as I am not big on many movies. I loved the animation & the music. I was surprised by a plot twist I hadn't read about. I sincerely look forward to watching it again with my sons & other DD. I'd love to see this live in parks. :)

We all went to see this tonight. Amazing. LOVED IT. The whole audience was really into it! Anna is so relatable and likeable and Olaf is precious.

The music is great, the story is good, the characters are strong...this one is a home run!

That's actually suprising. At first I was kind of annoyed at this movie. Maybe if will be good. Maybe.

Katie

Okay. I can officially change the title of this thread from "...is going to be GREAT!" to "...IS GREAT!" Below are some reviews of the soundtrack now available and box office reports that this is going to bigger than anything Disney since the Lion King. But first: How does this connect with the parks?

The overwhelming success of Frozen means two things:

First, after the success of Tangled made Disney rethink shelving the whole princess fairytale theme, the overwhelming response worldwide to Frozen will ensure princess fairytales are around for a long, long, time.

Second, expect to see all things Frozen, and Elsa and Anna, within the Parks and merchandise for a long time to come. I wonder if they will take up permanent residence at Norway in Epcot!?

Now to the soundtrack and Box Office information as of Saturday morning. I will post more as time goes on.

Go have a cold one this weekend!

This movie is so great. I hope Disney follows on from their last great movie 'Tangled' with a similar theme park expansion

Here's looking forward to the 'Frozen' Restrooms and Phone Charging area - yay!

Seen the 3D version a couple of nights ago. Really really good movie. Especially thought the 3D was done well. Not overbearing. Good storyline. Clearly this will be on Broadway at some point. And that's a good thing. The music in general had a very "Broadway" feel to it.

As mentioned in another thread, Frozen has broken the Thanksgiving opening record even though it finished second to Catching Fire in its second weekend.

Things should roll along nicely through the holidays.

We will have more exact numbers tomorrow.

Disney's Frozen won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature at tonight's Golden Globes ceremony in Hollywood.

This award positions the Disney musical as the front runner for the Oscar. However, it remains to be seen what nominees the Academy put forth (The Globes only considered Miyazaki's The Wind Rises for Best Foreign film - it didn't win).

Directors Chris Buck an Jennifer Lee accepted the award on behalf of the Walt Disney Studio. They gave a special thank you to John Lasseter and Ed Catmull.
:thumbsup2

I'm so glad Frozen won! I was surprised that Let It Go didn't win best song but that's okay. Now, on to the Oscars!!! :cool1:

Really enjoyed the movie :) lived up to the hype in this thread. I've watched it twice now and have no problems rewatching it a few more times.

Woo Hoo!! I'm so glad it won the Golden Globe tonight! Expect it should pick up the Oscar Nom later this week(Thu, I think). I was really hoping it would win best song, but maybe it'll be nominated(pretty sure it will, lol), for an Oscar and maybe it'll win there.

Loved this movie!! DD23 and I went to see it again last night! Weekend it opened, I took my 3 nephews with us and they loved it, especially Olaf! Love how it's staying at the top, or near, of the box office so long, in it's 8 weeks out so far. Pretty rare to come back to the top spot like it has, or even be there after being out so long! So far, it the second highest grossing Disney animated movie after the Lion King. I'm sure it'll be number one before too long! I think it's all very exciting! I want to see the 3D version next time and take my niece, if we can get the timing worked out, lol. That should be amazing!

I do have a question about the "Let It Go" song. Might be a dumb question, sorry, but was getting confused, lol! Who's singing it when? Does Idina Mendez sing it thru the movie and during the credits? Or when is it actually being sung by Demi Lovato? How different are their versions? I don't actually hear it outside of the movie much, don't listen to the radio really to hear it if it's there. Plan to get the soundtrack soon!
