Frozen Merchandise- there may be an end to the madness!

FYI- just woke up to this article. There may be a light at the end of the Frozen rainbow. Unfortunately, that light is months away. :scared1:

Lots of distractions between now and the "back-to-school/holiday" season for young Frozen fans. Not saying that the franchise doesn't have legs, but the
demand for small inexpensive items with huge profit margins can evaporate in a short period of time.

How did Disney miss the potential for the merchandising of this film? My guess is they cut corners on audience research, and it is costing them bundles. This is the kind of mis-step that causes exec heads to roll.

Stuff flies off the shelves - today Sir Mickeys got a shipment of plush flip Anna/Elsa's and singing Anna and Elsa dolls. By 1 pm they only had sining Anna's left.

Also noticed a popular cupcake at the hotels quick service is the 'Frozen' cupcake - it has blue frosting & a snowflake on top. No characters but it seems to sell out often.

What I don't understand, is why it's taken SO LONG from December until now, to get in a large shipment.

My husband used to order containers of items from China, and it would take 3 months. Most of the time, was spent in customs. Agents have to clear the containers (make sure they aren't filled with drugs, arms, etc) and this can take weeks if not longer. But dang, it's been way past 3 months!!

I don't know what the deal is, but it's been a really long time and I want Frozen stuff, and I don't want to feel like I have to go running with the bulls to get it. :dance3:

I opted for "lower quality" Elsa dress from costumecraze. However I like the way it looks better than the Disney Store one so win win for me. I also caved and got Anna's dress and boots on Amazon, not much of a mark up on the ones I snagged thankfully.

Would love the plushes but I'm not going to worry about them if I don't.

I work in the licensed wholesale industry. Depending on the item reorders can take anywhere from 30-75 days production plus water time which is usually 15-18 more days. Factor into this CNY which this year was end Jan - mid Feb you are looking at the earliest May to US suppliers and then another 3 weeks or so to stores. It will be June before most retailers start getting consistent stock.

Most forecasts were based on Tangled sales - which were healthy, but clearly not enough. Happens often - just usually not this visible.
