I posted this over on the cooking board, but since this one gets so much more traffic, thought I would post it on here and let others who want to try the recipe enjoy it too!

This has become my favorite cold :lovestruc:banana::lovestruc:banana:

They charge so much for it at the ice cream places, but it's so simple to make.

1 cup evaporated (NOT CONDENSED), milk, use fat free if you are watching your calories!

1/2 cup chocolate flavored syrup

1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

3 cups ice cubes

Mix all in a blender and pour into glasses or cups. If desired top with Cool Whip or Reddi Whip, and shaved chocolate.

If I make it in glasses, we get 2 12 oz glasses full, if using coffee size cups, we got almost 4 full ones out of it!

I paid $4.50 for 1 serving at an ice cream place earlier this summer!!

It is awesome. I have had it at Serendipity too.

Williams Sonoma sells a mix for it. I boughtit, but haven't tried it yet.

You do not want to be going back to Serenditpity. The Board of Health closed them down for a while do to lack of cleanliness & I think a roach problem. :scared1:

The Frozen Hot Chocolate had always sounded like a yummy idea to one day go there, until their temporary closing turned my stomach.

OP, thanks for the recipe so I can try it at home. :thumbsup2

Should be safe coming from your own kitchen!..lol it's really really yummy!

geez..that would be scary..I ate at a KFC in CA one time, got food poisoning, then found out that they had closed the place down the next day!

Oh, my goodness... this sounds heavenly!! I'll have to give this a try, for sure! And this sounds like a likely candidate for our annual Christmas party at the in-laws, too; I'm always looking for something new to try on them! ;)

Thanks for the recipe!

Thanks for sharing the recipe! my kids just had these at HersheyPark on Sat. and loved them!

Wow...didn't know that! Well, one thing I've always heard is that if a restaurant gets closed down by the BOH, and then re-opens, it is probably cleaner than it ever was before, and the BOH probably does inspections there more often.

Did you have this in the park or in the Chocolate World? I'm thinking if it was in CW, I may have to take a ride to visit my sisters who live near there to have an excuse for this pitstop.

We got it at CW...also got the Reeses' pieces cake...omg it was to die for!:goodvibes

Thanks! That sounds yummy!

Now if I could just figure out how to make McDonald's Mocha Frappes at home...I could save myself a lot of money!! :rotfl::lmao:

Edit...Just found a great looking recipe for the frappes!! And the bonus is that they're like half the calories and fat of the real thing! Looks like I'll be using my Magic Bullet!

Thanks for the recipe. I need to try to make my own at home as no one around here sells frozen hot chocolate.

Also thanks for the frappe recipe. I am addicted to those things and it will be cheaper to make my own.

Thanks for the recipe! Sounds great and I've always wanetd to try it. Although I've always wondered, how is it different tasting than just a regular chocolate milkshake? :confused3

for lack of a better word..lol....I guess its from when you mix it with the ice...it's not chunky to drink..not really sure how to describe it (you will have to make one and judge for yourself)..consider it an experiment and tell your husband, bf's, kids, etc..that it's homework for the DIS..lol!!

my husband is a milkshake fanatic..and he's now been converted to a frozen hot chocolate addict..lol

Well, I made this yesterday to surprise my DD when she got home from school. We both loved it! The evaporated milk definitely gives it a different flavor/texture than milk and ice cream.

Thanks for our newest favorite drink... now I have to go and buy more evaporated milk.

Soooo, if it is frozen is it still HOT :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Told you it was addicting..lol! Good thing evaporated milk isn't too expensive..I bought a BIG jug of Hershey's chocolate syrup that should last me awhile!
