Frozen at DCA limiting shows?

It’s a bummer. We were there Thursday to Saturday in January. They only had it on the Thursday annnd we went to the last show of the day and it got cancelled while we were sitting in the theatre. There were some extremely disappointed kids (and by kids I mean adults)

Ouch. Why was it cancelled?

Despite a decent amount of research I had no idea Frozen doesn't run every day until I incidentally ran across the information on the forums a few days ago. We'll be there W (evening), Thursday (all day), Friday (all day) and last night I came up with a touring plan in which we could possibly see the show! Which is great but wow a lot of the shows seem to be day-of-the-week specific.

Bums me out they cut back Frozen so much, it’s always been part of the routine. Good time to take a break and snack on popcorn. That’s a huge area to just let sitting empty too, such a shame. I love the entertainment as much as the rides!

I agree its the highlight of my trip we always go sun thru thursday, so we always try to catch it a couple of times. It s fun to see differnt cast members in the roles and how it changes the show.

I’m not sure why! The theatre was all loaded up and waiting. They delayed and then cancelled it about 30 mins after it was supposed to start.

I can see cutting down one day but they should definately operate on fridays

Sadly, for various reasons this is highly unlikely, some of the reasons include:
  • Major structural changes that were made to the Hyperion for the Frozen show, which would result in a lot of changes having to be made to the show, resulting in a show that probably would be as good as it was.
  • The previous manager for Aladdin is now the VP of Entertainment at Knott's and the quality of their shows demonstrate how brilliant of a move this was on Knott's part.
  • Part of what made Aladdin so great was the genie and hiring the caliber of performers that were necessary to pull that off is cost prohibitive, especially in this era of cutting entertainment.
Sadly, if you want Disney quality entertainment right now, you need to go to Knott's Berry Farm (see point above as to why this is happening), they seem to be constantly increasing their entertainment budget instead of cutting it as Disney seems to be insisting on doing.

fun fact, the actor who played Jasmine a few years ago is in the Hamilton ensemble currently playing in SF

I was able find out that a lot of the reasons for Frozen being closed on Fri and Sat is they keep renting out the theater to different groups. Just a heads up, there is a week in March (I forget which one) that Frozen will run on Fri and Sat because the theater is being rented out two days during the week.

I love the live entertainment too, especially since I cannot sing. I am so bad, dogs in the neighborhood howl when they hear me. Anyhoo, I sure hope Disney quits their nonsense and brings back the daily entertainment.
