Frontier Airlines - The Works Bundle

My complaint I is they want me to pay for the works which is supposed to give me access to a better seating, but I can’t tell if there are actually better seats available on that plane until I pay. That reason I passed on booking

If you book on the website and only want to reserve a seat, do not select The Works; just customize and only select seat selection. You will then see seat map of open seats. If you want a seat & a checked/carry-on bag, select the bundle called The Perks, which I have not seen on the app, just website. You go thru booking process to see seats, but it won’t yet book, till you confirm.

Think about this: there's a reason Frontier is at the bottom of customer satisfaction list with Spirit.

I have always had concerns about flying Frontier, since it became an ULCC several years ago. One of my friends, for whom I book flights, always requests Frontier, if Southwest fares are higher in cost or their schedule does not fit with her plans. She always has positive comments about Frontier.

Recently, I found myself booking Frontier, as they had a flight that was scheduled perfectly for my plans. I must admit that the only complaint I had was the inability to use RAC from my Disney resort, as Frontier does not participate. Other than that, I had no complaints about their service.

I imagine, though, that customers of size/very tall in stature, do not like the seat size and pitch on Frontier's planes. The other conceivable issue would be if there were a mechanical problem, as Frontier does not have extra aircraft to do a swap or rebook. Frontier does not have spare aircraft or as many flights as larger carriers.

An extra legroom seat at the front of the plane plus the luggage fee costs more that the Works. So on short flights I skip it, but on longer flight when I want more room and may have more luggage I always get it.

Unfortunately for us, this time we had to book Southwest to MCO and Frontier back home. The main reason for us was schedule. Our preference is to have our departing flight as early as possible and the return flight as late as possible. In the past with SW we always got that. Until this upcoming trip. Whether the post I read was true or not, it seems that SW is cutting flights in and out of MCO starting the second week in Jan. Guess what? Our flight home is the second week of Jan and the last nonstop for us would be 2pm and that wont work for us. So I decided to check AA, Spirit and Frontier since those are the only other nonstop options. AA and Spirit schedules were ok but the price was not good. When I checked Frontier there was a 1054pm departure with the bundle that didn't include refundability for $55 and we also opted for the optional travel insurance and the price still was less than the our SW flight to MCO so we had to forgo the luxury of using RAC in exchange for having the whole day to do what we wish.

So we are going with Frontier with our expectations low so we wont be disappointed if anything goes awry.

What works for some might not work for others in this case for us.

If you chose The Perks bundle, you can select seats in the first three rows, at no additional cost. There is a lot more leg room in those rows. Those rows can go quickly, so, if you have already booked, but not selected seats, I suggest doing so now. It can make a big difference in your comfort level.

Way ahead of you. Already picked the extra room seats. We're good to go.

Yes, We took the perks and grabbed 2 seats in the front 3 extra space rows for a trip in February. It was a fair deal. We took Frontier from PHL because the SW flights down to MCO did not work for us schedule wise. (We are returning on SW).

Trying out frontier for the first time from PHL later this month. We usually fly SW but prices were crazy and we saved over $400 even with The Works for 3 people. I picked seats in the second row, hopefully that was the right choice. A little nervous since this is our first time with the airline. We have the first flight to MCO so even if there are issues we should still get there early. A little worried about having the last flight home but hopefully there aren’t any issues.

I was a little concerned when I recently booked myself on Frontier, but all was good. Just remember that all snacks and beverages, with the exception of a cup of water, must be purchased. Of course, you are welcome to bring your own onboard. A teenager sitting next to me brought his own snacks, and did not stop eating for about two hours - including a package of salami.

I sat in row two.

I am a die hard SW fan, but have flown Frontier several times when they have a better itinerary or they have their crazy deals. DH has only flown them once and he said never again - he is over 6ft tall and has knee problems - but for our (semi-last minute, tiny budget) trip to DLR in Nov we will go to there on Frontier and come back with SW. I convinced him when I mentioned we would save $150 even with picking seats and a suitcase. It is a 2hr flight, if it was longer we would pay for SW.

Last Oct DD and I took the last flight of the day on Frontier on the way back home from DLR. There was a delay but they were really good about letting us know - we were still in the parks when I got the text so we just stayed a little longer. I was not feeling well so the wait was a bit of a pain for me, but it really was not a huge deal - it was an hour and a half. On the plane they gave us free snacks and drinks and once we got home I got an email from Frontier with a $20 coupon (each) for our next flight. Considering that I paid $29 each ticket I say they were very generous :)

Yesterday I booked our flights for Nov on Frontier. I had checked every day (I check at work) and the prices were not going down so once I got home I planned on booking the flight. I found 2 tickets that were actually $15 less than the price I had been seeing for the past couple of weeks. I always search for just one ticket since sometimes that way it is cheaper (I have seen this on SW as well) but yesterday was the first time I saw the cheaper tickets. When I tried for 3 the price would go up. So I booked DD and I together and then went to book DH.

The funny thing - and how it ties to the Perks/Works conversation - is that when I booked the first 2 tickets I could have sworn the Perks was something like $66, but when I went to book DH's ticket the Perks was $74. We are taking a suitcase and we got the more leg room seats so I was considering doing the Perks on his ticket which is why I was surprised at the price. I then went on a different browser and did the search again. This time the ticket was the same price but the Perks price went down to $66 and when I went to choose DH's seat the price was actually $3 cheaper that what DD and I paid. We did not get the Perks because we do not need the carry on and just paying a la carte it is a few dollars less.

So, check the prices on different browsers ;)

I noticed a savings when booking on the app vs. website.

If you book the Works on the app it is usually $20 cheaper. And the smarter thing to do if you are booking more than one ticket is to book them separately that way you get $20 off each ticket when you book the Works. Which is what i just did for a trip we took a few weeks ago. the price was cheaper than booking a reg. ticket and then ala carting a seat and carry on bag.
