Frontier Airlines...can anyone give some insight?

As one of the families who is mourning the loss of AirTran from ABE/MCO (waaaahhhhh!!!!!), I was happy to hear Frontier is taking over that route.

However, I have been hearing some not so nice reviews of Frontier. Small, cramped seats (more than usual), changing flight times, etc.

Any of YOU have any experience/guidance/reviews? The good, the bad, and the ugly are welcome! TIA

I've never flown Frontier, but according to seatguru.com, their jet seat width is 18 inches, which is 1 inch wider than Southwest's. Seat pitch (legroom) varies from 30-36 inches, pretty standard, although 30 inches is on the tight side. On many aircraft, you can pay extra for stretch seating, which gives you several more inches of legroom.

As a former Denver resident, I've used Frontier quite a bit, and I really enjoy the airline! They use Airbus, which generally have larger seats than Boeing. I always found flying with them comfortable.

They have three ticket categories:

Economy is just the seat. You'll need to pay for checked luggage and DirectTV service. Select seating is a charge.

Classic is a bit more, with 2 free bags and complimentary TV. You can also get upgraded to Select seating for no charge, and nominal $5 for stretch seating.

Classic Plus is the highest with fully refundable tickets, priority boarding, and the like.

Some of the "pluses" of Frontier are the free cookies hot out of the warmer (tangible) and the animals on the tail and wings (intangible but fun, especially for kids).

If you have kids, watch the commercials on YouTube. they are fun.

Thank you for the review! You put my mind at ease. We've been "burned" by the small/cramped airlines, and my husband (who is 6'2'') was NOT looking forward to another cramped flight.

Sorry to report, they have recently discontinued the fresh chocolate chip cookies on their flights. They were pretty good too.
