I would like to take my 17 year old nephew to Disneyland before he has to go back to the hospital.
He has terminal cancer and wont be able to stay long in the park each day. I have heard about front of the line, but dont know anything about this. Can someone explain this to me, let me know what documents i would need to bring and where to bring them? Any other helpful hints? Thank you

There is not a "Front of the Line" pass. Guests who need special accommodations can get a Guest Assistance Card at City Hall and that may allow them to use an alternate ride entrance, for example, but it does not cut to the front of the line.

Make-a-Wish kids sometimes get a much more special pass similar to what you're after but you'd have to go through that particular organization.

I'm sorry to hear about his cancer. The only front of the line passes are given to kids on wish trip (Make a Wish Foundation and Give kids the World come to mind). I don't know about that process, but I'm sure folks on the disabilities board can help you with it.

The front-of-the-line pass is reserved for the wish trip. If the child is well enough to make another trip after their wish trip, they do not get FOTL access on the subsequent trip. You can still get a GAC (guest assistance card), but that doesn't always help with wait times.

If he tires quickly you could rent a wheelchair.. this will allow him the wheelchair entry without the GAC, and allow him to stay in the parks a little bit longer each day..

Hope he has a great time... :cool2:

We just returned from dl on Friday and had a great time.

We were able to get a front of the line pass GAC pass so they are available. The pass was a GAC pass and the ink was green. My nephew was in a wheelchair that we brought with us from the hospital in our home town. The pass really helped cause we were only able to stay a couple of hours at a time in the park.

I just got back today and we had both a scooter (for my dad) and a GAC (for my mom).

Some rides were quick entry, but some were not. Haunted Mansion was one that was not. They can only fit so many scooters in the loading area so we had to wait 20 minutes. Also we had to wait 30 minutes for Radiator Racers.

There is no guarantee to get on rides quick. Especially if they are popular and there are other GAC/scooter and sometimes Fast Pass people in front of you.

Also a few rides (Star Tours, Radiator Racers, Soarin') require you to get a special fast pass from the CM at the attraction. They will give you a time to come back, but again, there may be others in front of you.

I would say, except for Make a Wish, there is no such thing as a front of the line pass for all rides.

We were not on a make a wish trip, but we did get a front of the line pass. I am only mentioning this to help other families. My nephew really wanted to go to DL, but I was worried that we could only go on a ride or two because of the wait, and his energy level, but with the front of the line GAC pass some days we were able to do more. We also were never told to come back later, or given a FP for a later time.

At RSR there was a long GAC line with wheelchairs, but we didnt wait in line when the CM saw our pass.

I am so glad you came back and posted. It sounds like the day was everything your nephew needed it to be- I am happy for you. Your pre-planning probably made a huge difference- so he is lucky to have you for an aunt!princess:

A GAC is not a front of the line pass. It's a card to assist in communicating necessary accommodations for equal access. There are times that waits can be as long if not longer than the regular line.

However it's possible that with your documentation and situation that Disney chose to make some magic happen.pixiedust: Treating your situation more like a MAW. Which is really awesome.
