Sorry but the #!@#! search function keepg giving the server busy message!

Anyone been to WDW in the last few weeks, can you please confirm if you are still able to ask to sit up front with the driver or not. We are staying at the CR for the 1st time and figure with all the trips back/forth, we'd have a real chance to be able to do it. Just wondering before I go asking a CM about something that is not even able to be done.

TIA :goodvibes

Yes, you are still able to ride in the front of the monorail. It's quite an experience.

My family rode Friday night. You are only allowed 4 so I sat in the first car behind them. They really enjoyed it!!

My friends and I were at the World a couple of weeks ago and were able to ride in the front!

We happened to time it just right - leaving Epcot after Illuminations and heading to the Magic Kingdom!

Wishes was going off as we were riding in the front.

Truly a Magical Moment!

Yes, you can! We went in June and rode in the front twice(once during the day and once at night). Be sure to ask the monorail driver if you can have a co-pilot license. They usually have these with them. It is just a small card you can keep. I stuck mine in my scrapbook with the pictures of us riding in the front! Great keepsake!!

Just ask the CM at the front of the line if you can ride with the driver. If there is already a family in there, you can ask to wait for the next one!

Yep,
We just got back late on Sunday. We were able to ride once going from the Poly to the TCC. We did wait 2 times and were ready to just get on without getting up front. Luckily we got lucky.

Staying @ the CR, I can virtually guarantee that you will have several chances @ the resort monorail during your stay. I don't think we ever rode the express line this last trip, but the EPCOT ride is a bit more tricky -- you may need to wait a time or two to get that one.

Have a great time! :sunny:

I have seen people able to get in the front car at the monorail station going to Epcot. In fact, we were standing there, waiting patiently in order to ride in the front car, when I turned my back to say something to my dd, when another family crept into my place. It was too funny.....I guess I could have made a scene but it just wasn't worth it to me. I just turned and said..."Please, go right ahead. I'm sure your children will appreciate it ever so much more than my dd." They were a bit uncomfortable, but I walked away and got into the 'regular' line rather than wait for the next front car seat.

I actually had a friend try to tell me that only people staying at the GF were allowed to ride in the front car!! Of course this is the same woman that tells everyone what a terrific deal concierge at the GF is since they provide 5 meals a day. Anyone is allowed to ride up front...you may have to wait for a bit, but your turn will come. Just ask the CM who is working the monorail station you are at.

Each monorail resort has a train 'assigned' to it - meaning Guests boarding there get priority, even if there's already someone in the front car. So if, for example, someone boarded the Contemporary's train at the Grand Floridian for a ride around, they should be asked by the loader at the Contemporary to move to another car. Doesn't mean they will, so don't be upset if this doesn't happen. Just be patient.

If the weather's bad (I think anytime it's raining, but it may only be lightning) they suspend the option to ride up front.

My kids have done it a number of times.

Last time I did it, we got a fuddy-dud for our pilot. He seemed more of the Universal kinda guy. I hope we get one with some magic this time.

I have a fear of heights but have managed to get used to riding the monorail. :thumbsup2

We are headed back on our 14th trip soon and I always like to plan NEW activities to do. :cool1:

I am considering asking to ride in the front.

Do you think I will be able to do it without freaking out and scaring small children? :confused3

Slightly Goofy

I think you will be fine. Just look straight ahead and take in the scenery. I am not one for heights, either, even the monorail, but I find when i ride up front i dont have any problems. Maybe because when I am in the front, i can see everything, and I can see the beam and riding with the driver i feel safe :)

emnrich, this is the first time we've noticed so many un-Disneylike monorail drivers. We did have one named Steve who is absolutely the best & seems to love his job! :)

I loved (and so did my son) riding at the front... It is something I would try to do at least once on any of our WDW trip. It are things like this that gives that little extra magic... (as if a WDW holiday isn't magical enough already :goodvibes )
