Our new LG front-loading washer/dryer arrived yesterday. I washed a load of towels in it and they're in the dryer now. I've read the instruction booklet for the washer, and it sounds like I can't use the powdered Oxy Clean that I normally use in the wash cycle. It sounds like I can only put liquid bleach/color safe bleach in the cup, since I use liquid detergent. Is this correct? Can I still use the Oxy Clean powder and just throw it in the washer along with the clothes or will I have to go back to liquid bleach?

I have an LG front loader and use OxyClean powder all the time and haven't had any issue . I toss it right onto the clothes.

I am pretty sure the instructions on my machine said not to use powder. I only use detergent and have never had a problem. My ALL has Oxyclean in it and Oxyclean comes in liquid for, you add it to your detergent. Plus, most all washers, especially front loading, seem to have to have HE detergent.

That's good to know, thanks.

Yes, my instructions said not to put powdered bleach into the cup too. It did say if you want to use powdered detergent, that's fine, just remove the blue cup (that holds detergent) first. But it said only liquid bleach, and I really like my Oxy Clean. I didn't know it comes in a liquid form, so I will look for that, thanks. And yes, I did read that I should only use the HE detergent, plus the guy reinforced that when he delivered the set yesterday.

Apparently. HE products only! When I posted an earlier thread some answers were that problems did occur with time. Compromising Warranty.

Congrats on your purchase! I'm the other Gram with the non front loader and the Deep! Tub!

Are you enjoying the tune? :rolleyes1. :laundy:

When there are especially dirty items like DH's work clothes, we toss the tiny scoopful of OxyClean in the tub with the clothes.

Yes, I'm enjoying the tune...it makes me smile. :)

I love the fact that the clothes come out of the washer so dry! I put a load in this morning, now it's in the dryer and dry time says 32 minutes! Wow! :)

I bought our second front loader last year and thought there was something wrong with the seal. Had the guy out to look at it and it was fine, but he did say that we need to make sure the rubber seal and door were free of any type of hair (pet hair, whatever). So I make sure I wipe it off a couple times while doing laundry.

Also if you use the Tide packs, make sure you put them under the clothes or in the washer before the clothes. I made the mistake of just tossing one in and it sat on a new top and left a mark from the gel that makes up the pack. I just rewashed the top and it came out, but if I had done as instructed :rolleyes1 I wouldn't have had the problem in the first place.

I really love our washer. I can wash my down comforter in it with no problem. I just make sure that it is set on a high spin cycle. (Not the highest though).

Using powder can lead to a washer smelling like a locker room full of smelly shoes.
