From WDW To DL With Love - January 06, 2011

We are averaging 44.5 post a day for a cruise over a year away.
My other cruise on nov 14 only gets 29 post a day.
I love the excitment for our panama canal group, should make it a vacation of a lifetime!!

Some cruises are chatty, some not. Some cruises, the folks post a lot of drivel just to make page count, so it's impossible to find any real information. (I've been on one of those - last year - finally stopped reading the thread entirely.) The November 7 cruise is still on the first thread, at least the 14th filled one and started the second, and it's real 'getting to know you' posts, like this one is.

I'll be out of touch probably for two weeks. We're going on back to back cruises on the Magic starting Saturday. The internet on board seems to be a little pricey for the amount of time we'd want to use it, lol.

If anyone sees any uncommon "hunchback" pins, those are the ones I collect. I have them framed in the hall, but I know there are more. I forgot to pack my trading pins for this trip, so I guess I'm not trading. oops!

I have several that have no theme... but the four I hold to are the Chanukah pins, the Mary Poppins pins, any pins that involve the classic live-action movies and I have several that have Walt Disney himself on them.

Of course I'll have to get some onboard, but not if it involves waiting in line for an hour or camping out overnight in the atrium....

I was part of that camp out, and I loved it. When they had the request sheet in my room on the WB last year, it just was not the same. Yes I got everything, and more, I wanted but it would have been fun to camp out again.

I try to limit the pin addict. I only collect DCL special port and special sailings pins. I also have other DCL and Stitch pins for the DH but only buy those at the outlet.

I rarely trade but only because I don't have anyone to trade with and I can't bring myself to go to any of those official pin trading shows. But, if we have a lot of pins traders on this trip, I'll pack all my extras.

I also collect Don "Ducky" Williams Disney cruise lithos. I LOVE those and was so super excited that he was on the 2005 PC cruise. Unfortunately, I didn't win any of his drawings that he did at his presentations.

On the last WB PC cruise at Bingo we won a "DCL Stitch" pin that was one of 50.We werent into pins really and didnt realize this was a good one but we got an idea when we were offered $500 bucks right on the spot for it before we left the lounge. We kept it

Regarding pins, perhaps I'll bring my monorail collection. It's quite unique.

I have

1959 Disneyland Monorail Wings. As far as I know there are less than 10 of these remaining, and perhaps as few as 2.

Walt Disney World monorail wings.

Walt Disney World Monorail Coordinator Wings. A total of 12 were issued to the 12 original Central coordinators.

Disneyland replica monorail wings issued on the 40th anniversary of the monorail. This was a limited edition of 150.

I've got a bunch of other pins too, but that collection (Especially given my addiction) is my pride and joy.

Candy--I will be at DL on Monday. My friend Shirley got pneumonia so she won't be celebrating DH's 75th birthday as planned.

Really?!?! How did you find out? We just got off the Wonder this morning and Christiaan was our CD and i didn't even think about asking him if he would be on the PC cruise. I hope he is, because he is my favorite CD!!

Well we innocently got bitten by the pin bug when a friend asked me to pick her up a pin. I said sure, no problem and ended up waiting in a line for 5 hours. This was on the 50th anniversary celebration at DL with the golden pins.

I collect Ariel and Mickey and Minnie as a couple and DH is a goofy fan. We have cut back quite a while and now only get what we like. I mostly enjoy trading with CMs and striking up conversations. I also love bringing my extra princess pins and trading with the lil princess fans. As long as the fun continues, I trade but some people make it unpleasant.

Driving my husband and son to the airport tonight; they are going to Australia for a week since they got a fabulous airfare. I already had plans to go to southern cal for a friend's birthday so will be at DL for the weekend. If the Christmas parade is being filmed on Saturday I hope to get a few pics. Not looking forward to the crowds but will go with the flow. Anytime is fabulous when you're in the happiest place on earth.

When it comes yo the CD, I will take anyone but Brent. I do not like him. I don't see why people do. All he did was lie to my face, and trust me DCL herd about it in a letter that was a formal complaint agenst him. If he is the CD I will have to live with it, but if this was just your regular seven night, I would transfer my res to a cruise he would not be on.

I would like to do the FE exchange, but DH is worried how we will take them from California to Florida on the plane what with the baggage fees, 2 kids, 2 parents, etc. Any thoughts? Has anyone done this?

We took a empty rolling carryon ,but we also stayed for a week after on the last PC and shipped a small box home to Florida. It was only like 15 dollars and a packing place about a block from Paradise Pier . It was kind of fun getting it when we got home, we had forgot we had put some stuff in there and was like getting FE gifts all over again!

There was a thread last week that said Christian had confirmed he was taking the wonder to Ca, but also that he was going to be permant on the wonder as brent was going to be permanent on the magic except for vacations and stuff.
I could not stand brents voice last cruise bit to be honest I had yto admit I kinda liked him in the end as he was very nice if you met him around the ship.
If you have issues though thats diff.

He was our first CD on our first cruise and I did like him. and was hoping he would be on the PC cruise. However, I did like Brent too and was pleased he was on our B2B in September. You kind of get used to a person and don't want change.

Oh it did. My friends and I wrote formal complaints about him to the DCL office in Celebration. I of course do not know what happened as DCL will not share that info, but I hope he got into trouble.
