From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 5

closed the suitcase. It's heavy. I don't think I'll be getting by without paying overweight fees. and I have managed to misplace a full container of sunscreen.

Be very careful taking wrapped gifts past airport security. I would say don't wrap any gifts unless they are going in checked luggage.

Oh you wonderful people and your well-wishes and pixie dust----it really worked!!!!!!! Ok, and maybe the vet opening him up and removing his spleen worked too

Our best guess is that on Monday night, our other corgi Cera ran into him really hard---so hard that his spleen ended up bleeding. Nothing else was effected. The emergency vet was such a downer about him and we were ready to give up but we called our breeder and she had us take him to her vet for a second opinion---and what a good thing we did! Thank goodness for caring/involved breeders---especially after 13 years! And for competent surgeon vets!

Right now Bandit is resting---25 stitches on his belly, stitches on his thigh where a wart was removed, clean teeth, and wearing a really cute tee shirt---he hates wearing anything---but he must keep the area clean. We'll drop him off at the breeder's house tomorrow and she will have to deal with the post-op stuff. I hope to check in with her often through email while on the cruise.

Now I must start packing!!!!!!!!!

So glad Bandit is on the mend. We lost one of ours to undected spleen trouble recently, so we know what you've been through.


We have finished the magnets...and post card labels, still need to assemble FE gifts and pack...we're on schedule for us...once the dogs see the suitcases they start to act out - so we usually stage and stack and then pack and go overnight so they're not stressed as much.

BY THE WAY! if anyone knows in advance that they would like internet service at the port or on the ship before we leave (or within the first 30 minutes of the voyage) Please let me know. I can wireless tether off my cell phone at no charge and the speeds are actually decent. So iPads, Laptops, etc. can connect. Just sent me a PM so I can give you my cell # and we can meet up or I can give you the SSID and PW.

me me me meme! Actually, if you can just teach my roommate HOW to do it, we can probably work off hers. I'm DESperate to stay wired so I can communicate with my sweetie (the crazy skier who just HAD to stay home to ski)

Safe travels to all!! Cannot wait to be underway! Another almost 2 inches of rain here - bleck.

Both DDs are packed. "stuff" is layed out. Will pack DH and I tonight. Picking up rental van Tuesday at lunchtime and will do a second and final check before we load up the van. Did labels for postcards.

Need to download and print "the schedule" and print door magnets and iron ons for shirts. Then toss those into suitcase.

Looks like we are 2 suitcases, 1 garment bag and carry ons. Not too bad.

A million thanks to all of you who have gone the extra mile and coordinated events, spreadsheets and graphics. You are adding so much to so many of our cruises. Thank you.

Can't wait to meet you. Trust me - you won't miss our redheaded daughters. Especially the 3 year old. Come and say hello!!

I can't believe we are down to the last 4 days...! I have been working like a fiend, five 12 hour shifts in the past 6 days. I was off New Years Eve and got 90% of my stuff laid out, just have to pack it up tomorrow. That's much more organized than I usually am. I work again on Tuesday, then fly out Wednesday morning.

Last night I was feeling so panicky about leaving my 7 year old, Emily, for two whole weeks. It's totally silly, my husband is home, totally capable of taking care of anything she needs. I'm just going to miss her sooo much. I've never been away from her for longer than 4 days straight.

I've set up afterschool care and plenty of playdates for her and made a really cute calender for each night I'm gone. It is kind of like an Advent calender. Each pocket contains a note pertaining to whatever activity she has going on at school or after school that day and a little blurb about where we are that day on the cruise. I'm throwing in little gifts like lip gloss, stickers, etc. That way she'll have something to look forward to each day.

That's what I've been working on instead of my door magnets, so my door will be pitifully bare

I can't wait to meet you all, this is going to be an amazing trip. I wish you all a safe trip to Orlando!

Well we are packed and waiting for the Shuttle to take us to LAX. We are watching the Travel Channel show called "Disney Cruise Line". We had recorded it back in in March just for tonight. Although I think I have watched it at least every other week since. Oh they just showed Brent!!!! He is GREAT!!!! (Alan no need for you to know how you feel..........) I can't wait to meet you all. This board has been so much fun to follow. I will miss you guys, this has been my Online Soap Opera!!!! To My Dancing Banana Buddies- see you real soon!!! Safe travels to all.

Well DH and I are almost all packed. My suitcase, like always, will be right at the weight limit.
DH works tomorrow and then we are on the Red Eye to Toronto, then on to Orlando Tuesday morning

I cannot wait to escape the snow here.

Has anyone else not really started packing yet?

We're flying down to MCO on Wednesday and we just pulled out our suitcases today. I'm shampooing all of my snorkel equipment, etc, however other than that we havent started putting anything in the cases yet. Maybe we just like the rush at the end.

I'm with you. I have been out of town a lot the last few months and I haven't started packing either. I have some of it laid out but not a thing in a suitcase.... good luck to ya ...

Well thats it, i'm off to bed for 4 hours, leaving at 4:00 AM for PHL nonstop to Orlando! So excited to get this underway, but very exhausted from the marathon packing spread out over the last 3 days. I took a 3 week trip in August, but that was mostly a cross country road trip, with a few hops on the way back, so it was mostly casual clothes and maybe 3 nicer things. Wasnt a big packing marathon for that- I guess I thought it would be easy for this 3 week trip too, but boy was I wrong- so many Disney specific things, all the DIS stuff, theme stuff, FE, it really adds up. I'm just glad this cruise is so long so we can unpack and stay put after all this work!

I hear ya on the packing marathon....I keep feeling as though I can't stop packing....we did the shuffle tonight at home for weights and adding additional items and still not done...I had to take a break. I was starting to stress out which is unusual.

I felt the same way, unusually stressed with the packing today, which normally I am not. We also had to carefully weigh and arrange things. The part I hate is that there are so many things that just cannot be checked, that are too valuable, priceless, delicate, etc--that is the part about flying that I hate, because you are so limited with carryon space. Now that we've finally got it in 4 large suitcases, 2 carryon backpacks, & a carryon garment bag between the 2 of us, the dilemma when we get to the airport will be, how to carry all that stuff inside, and to/from the car, etc. ahhh I'm excited for WDW but really cant wait to get on the ship and leave the hassles behind!

Ok guys, small problem. The star trek collection I've got is blu-ray and the ship only has DVD players. Can someone bring Star Trek II, IV and (sigh) V on DVD? I'm also still looking for Tron but I'm pretty sure I know where that is. Here's what I'm bringing so far
