From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 5

I am so sorry about your dog - will send good thoughts your way. We do love our pets.

Sounds like there are a number of us not ready. I am taking things day by day. Need to get those Christmas decorations down - the pouring rain is delaying that, can't put away wet stuff - well could - but image the smell when I opened the trunks next year - not a good thing.

I do have a list of things I need to do before the trip - some I have crossed off.
Put the paper on vacation
put the mail on hold
notify the credit card people of the trip
notify the alarm people of the trip and name of the house sitter
Get letter of husband's medical conditions and current EKG from Dr.
Copy prescriptions for medicine and eye glasses, passports, credit cards, and other documents I am bringing
Update and print vacation schedule and contact numbers, including vet, insurance company and alarm company
print up names and addresses for postcards

Anyone have anything on their list?

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::lmao:
Yes .a few things.....:dance3::dance3:

I think there are two different things here. For Champagne Girls and Mixology, the cost is $18 per person and DCL will provide the drinks.

However, the corkage fee if you bring your own wine to the dining room, etc. is also $18. I think this is what Tracy referred to when she mentioned that this would work out at about $9 per person if DCL provides room and set up for the Wine Meet and Greet.

Corinna

ok, i'm sleep deprived. does this mean if every "couple" (be it mom/daugther, huspand/wife, friend/freind etc) brings one bottle of wine they will be charged 18 for the bottle and so it's 9 a person? so do they charge by the bottle or person i guess is what i'm asking? is that what you mean coriinna? one bottle of wine about for every 2 and so 9 pp??? that's not the way i'd read before, but i wold be extremely happy to be wrong!!

speaking of which, i need to order my wine to be delivered to beach club (or yacht club or whereever it is i'm staying. this is the prob when dh makes the ressies and doesnt mention it to me over and over!!)

packing could be an issue. good thing i'm off all friday! we arrive saturday! Yeah!

My list - we move out tomorrow (clean the refrigerator and kitchen cupboards of our stuff) and go to Homewood Suites by the Fort Lauderdale airport for our last day. Drew and Kayla head for MI on Thursday and David and I head for Spring Hill. The older 2 DSs and thier wives don't fly out until the 31st. And, poor me, I have to work Friday and Tuesday next week and then I am done, done, DONE!

Safe travels to all that are leaving soon. I hope Bandit is doing OK, the arm is in a cast and those not feeling well are better. And the rest of you healthy ones, stay that way as there is no time left to get sick.

Happy packing!

For the tastings, champagne girls and mixology - there is a per person charge of $18 (use to be $15 but as of 1-1-11 the price is $18). For an event, or meal that you bring your own bottle there is a corkage fee of $18 per bottle, regardless of the number of people involved (that use to be $15). If you bring two bottles to dinner and you are the only one who drinks them it is $18 a bottle. If 20 people drink them it is $18 a bottle.

Since I packed early December to come to dd, it is just a matter or re-arranging the cruise clothes for now. Of course there are some things I want to pick up. I am not sure I brought my highlighters and I need more sticky magnets so I will do that tomorrow. I have to take my car for an oil change on Thursday morning. Momday I will get hair cut & manicure, nothing like waiting until the last minute! We fly out Tuesday morning.

Here is some pixie dust from Jasmine for Bandit. Hope all goes well because I know the worry of an ill pet. I know this little girl will really miss me for three weeks! We have never been apart:confused3

I forgot the part about me having to go to the dentist today too what fun on my day off:rolleyes: anyway, all set there and moving on...

I forgot to mention that I must be losing my mind, the large plastic bin of cruise stuff that I couldn't find anywhere....I found it- packed in a suitcase!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

We're not warmer by much! It was 26 when I got up this morning. I had a thick layer of ice on my windshield. I don't own a scraper anymore!

Sorry about the broken arm! That seriously sucks so close to the cruise!

We accidently "borrowed" a scraper from my sister in law at Thanksgiving and it made the trip back to FL with us. I must say though, we've used it at least 3 times this winter already. Crazy weather!

:lmao:

We need 146 copies of this. Please deliver it under all the stateroom doors on this list. Daily.

:lmao:

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: serves them right for not making up their minds.

ok so as I see it the boat is not full. Does any one have an idea of how much it would cost to upgrade from an inside state room to something looking out, be it a port hole or a veranda, at the dock??? thanks in advance.

There is a way to do it online in the My reservation section.

Yes.. but mind, I know cause I made this mistake(although I am sure you way cleverer than me) , when we done the ta the ship wasnt full at all but a lot of singles in cabins, so although not "full" there was NO upgrades at all at port. Although of course I dont know that for this cruise.

I dunno if it's a silly question or not, either, but it's one (of the few) we've never considered!

We've been more concerned about possible water leaks in the house or the power going out resulting in the furnace going off. Solved both issues - dh turns the water off at the main and opens the faucets, and we just bought a standby generator.

I'm with you! I think 50% of my nerves about the trip is leaving the house empty for such a long time. We also live in the North East, and I am very concerned about "winter incidents"...freezing pipes, electrical issues, etc. DH has arranged for someone to shovel. We plan on leaving timers on lights. The water heater will be set to vacation, and the thermostat for the furnace will be lowered.

Before any trip, I usually shut off the main water valve, and open the kitchen faucet to let the water run out. But don't leave the faucet open...I don't think it could happen, but if water started flowing into the pipes again, you wouldn't want an open faucet. So open the faucet to drain the lines, and then turn it off.

Also, just some things I'm thinking of that others might find useful...our sprinkler system has been turned off and winterized. Also if you have radiator steam heat as we do, make sure your furnace has enough water in it. Even with the thermostat turned down, the heat will occasionally come up.

Interline Rates are special rates for travel industry staff (and especially airline staff). Airlines usually have two kinds of travel benefits - online, which is with your own carrier and interline, which is on other carriers. However, this does not only include air travel, but also cruises, hotels, etc. I managed to get a fantastic interline rate at the Crowne Plaza at Manchester Airport for the night before we fly out today. It was so good that I treated us to a Club Room.

The scavenger hunt that we did on the WBTA was nowhere as professional. Three of us got together and put this together. It was great fun to prepare and then to grade.

Corinna

Thanks for the info on the interline rates Corinna.

I didn't do the scavenger hunt on the TA Corinna, but I do imagine it was good fun however it was organised, I was actually talking about the 2008 WBPC which Tracy was on too. I always have to think when I type the initials to make sure I do the correct ones;). There was a large organised event by a group which does them in the Disney parks too. I was wondering if this is the same.

Well less than a week before we fly out now, and still I have no clue on what flights to take to MCO.

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

1 week from this morning, my group will be awakening at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

For those shipping - I sent a box of books on December 23rd - media mail, which is normally VERY slow. It arrived at the warehouse yesterday.

Happy Day, all.

According to Christian to CMs, the boat is sold out and rooms coming available are due to people backing out!! so with openings showing, this is interesting. And it is true that it's not nearly at capacity. But capacity will show 2 empty beds in my room for example. our room sleeps four but we are sans kids. i suspect even if there arent a lot of singles, a lot of just 2's

i couldnt do it! when we go away now for more than a week, i have somene get the mail every other day and bring it into the house and kinda check the first floor. there's been a high school kid that did it a lot and a neighbor. Now i have my adult daughter (the second one, not the one on the ship!) doing it. still turn stuff off as she's not staying there but she checks it (and she goes upstairs too!)

I am. This is one of the perks of flying for free.

jealous! (i am) although as i sit here i remember our free flying friends flying to about 4 places to get from dallas to dc cause flights were fairly sold out for weeks and they had a wedding to get to. luckily they left dallas VERY early!:goodvibes:goodvibes for you alan
