Of course, I'm not at all disappointed that they didn't announce it yet. I think the perfect time to announce that would be in January. Well actually, the perfect time for them to open booking on those cruises will be in January - say, between Januray 7th and 20th... Yes, that would be the perfect time to open bookings on summer 2012.... :rolleyes1

As I've never booked a future cruise while on the ship, what are the discounts/incentives like?

As I've never booked a future cruise while on the ship, what are the discounts/incentives like?

  • Reduced deposit - 10% vs 20% (recently changed from flat rate depending on length of cruise
  • OBC - depends on length of cruise and CC status
  • 10% discount cruise fare

Since June, I've been tracking airfare on Expedia daily for both legs of our trip (NY/NJ-MCO and LA-NY/NJ). We planned to fly into MCO the night of 1/5. I was tracking a 6:55pm from EWR-MCO on JB...then JB cancelled that flight effective 1/5...figures!

My other option was a 6:10pm Continental flight. A few weeks ago, it dropped to $79, and I grabbed it.

I soooo wanted to fly SNA-EWR, but the price has held steady at $579. Trying to avoid LAX. So my only other option was LGB. Kept my eye on a 9:00am from LGB-JFK on JB, and got it for $149!

Both flights have gone back up (a little bit), but I'm glad I seem to have caught the low. :cool1:

So our total roundtrip comes to:

$79 + $10.70 = $89.70
$149 + $10.70 = $159.70
Total - $249.40

Very happy to have gotten these prices!

we get into orlando airport at 7:00 p.m. the night before the cruise. we always say at the airport hyatt. does anyone have another recommendation? val

We are also staying at the Hyatt the night before, maybe the hyatt people could have their own meet at the airport? Phil

We're staying at the airport the night before the cruise. We've never stayed there before, always been at WDW before a cruise. But DH couldn't take any more time off from work than the cruise. Plus we thought the kids would be in school for a couple days so I could get last minute packing done. Come to find out one goes back on the 4th, the other would go back on the 5th if we weren't flying to FL.

we've stayed there 4 or 5 times. it is like all the Hyatts, nice enough room, nice gym, restaurant is fine but nothing special. What we used to really appreciate was the DCL touch. From the moment we got off the plane it was as if DCL was taking care of you. They would pick up our luggage from the luggage claim and deliver to our room. There would be a welcome envelope for us when we checked in. Instructions for the setting out our luggage later that night and how to check in the next day were included. The next morning one person from our party would go to the lobby to check in. There, a DCL rep would ask about when we would be ready to take the bus to the ship and schedule our bus time. We waited in the comfort of the lobby, sitting on couches drinking coffee until someone walked us down to a bus waiting for the Hyatt guests. it made the cost of staying there worth it.
The last time we stayed there it was a very different DCL experience. The hotel was the same but we had to get our own luggage and then schlep it upstairs and it is a looong ways to the hotal. Get a cart. There were instructions for check-in the next morning. They do come pick up for luggage but you don't put it into the hall, they come to your room to get it. The biggest change is the morning check-in, you no longer get to check in and wait in the lobby. You now go downstairs where all check-ins are done for all buses to DCL and all the park hotels. The instructions said only one person in your party needed to check in and the counter opened at 7:00.
When I got there, a few minutes after 7:00, I was in second line. There were two people working the DCL line and 6 or 8 the parks lines. There was no one in line for the parks, and those cast members were busy looking at and laughing at some cheesy website. I waited 45 minutes until someone helped me, only to be told that everyone in my party had to be there. we had to have checked out of the hotel and be ready to get on a bus before they could help me. Once I walked back to my room, got my DH and checked out we had to go back down and get into the DCL line again. From that line we got into a huge line with everyone else going to any Disney destination. As we moved to the head of the line they directed us to the correct bus; specific hotel, park, or ship.
When we got to the ship we still had to go through the check-ins at the pier.
The only advantage now is the picking up of your luggage at your room and taking it to the ship. If you book direct with the Hyatt, the price can be better and you can cancel without a penalty within 24 hours. But, we'll most likely book with disney again.

Have any plans been made for a pre cruise meet near Port Canaveral. If there are several people staying in that area the night before maybe we can plan a brief get together or a dinner meet.

Charlotte we are def up for meeting the night before. We will be in the parks Jan 1-4 and then heading to port on the 5th.

We stayed at the Hyatt before our first cruise. We liked it but since then we have stayed at the port before cruising. It was so much more relaxed in the morning and it is great renting a car and stoping at Target before hand for things like water, laundry detergent and anything else we might have forgotten.

I am not sure which hotel we will be staying at yet. I will wait till it gets close and probably just priceline something.

We booked the Fantasy today and I am so happy! We would love to do the Dream but not flying out to FL for those short cruises. We got connecting 10's on Deck 9 (yeah for Magical porthole), we got 10% off form moving other booking and also had the 10% deposit which was already covered from the cruise we switched from! :thumbsup2

Okay, I just can't wait any longer to get involved. . . We will be booking this cruise tomorrow, had to wait until DH had vacation approved. I have been reading the forum but not commenting until I knew for sure. For those of you that were on the WBTA, I was there minus DH. I got in too late to do some of the activities so have been pushing DH to find out about vac so we could participate.

We live in Alameda and would love to do a NorCal meet up. The Disney Museum sounds wonderful. I vote for Nov 13-14 as my DH is out of town the 6-7, however if that date works better for most, I'll be there without him.

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Have any plans been made for a pre cruise meet near Port Canaveral. If there are several people staying in that area the night before maybe we can plan a brief get together or a dinner meet.

I have ressies two places - the Radisson and the Residence Inn. Need to decide which one to cancel, pretty soon. Planning dinner at Fish Lips :goodvibes

Is anyone suprised to hear this:
Disney Cruise Line was recognized last week as the No. 1 cruise experience at the Annual Readers' Choice Awards for Conde Nast Traveler magazine in New York City.

Not in the least surprised! We're getting tired of the same old itineraries, but the cruise experience itself is so good, we keep signing up

ANybody for a meet in Scotland????????????

Thought not:sad1:
Love to - but I can't afford the airfare :scared1: (I'm pretty sure there's no interest in an upstate new York meet, either, Lynne)

Once you North California Cruisers decide on a date, I'll try to get my cousin (roommate) to come to meet you. She lives in Santa Rosa.

CT Meetup - some of us are planning to meet in northern Connecticut on Sunday Morning, November 14th. We have a time and place decided. Is anyone else interested?

Happy Day, all!

With all these Cali meets, almost think those of us in Florida should meet up. I see a fair amount of people from the Tampa area. We did just get the newly thought up Disney Store at International Plaza, and that's about as centrally located for Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties.....
Any takers?

DH and I are in! I am actually going to the International Mall today as my iPhone died last night. :sad1: Any Tuesday or Saturday nights are best, but we are flexible. :thumbsup2

Good morning all!

All this meeting up is making me wondering if we should have an Aussie meet!

Just wondering if anyone has had experiences of parcels getting sent to their WDW resort prior to their arrival? Is it a done thing? Just wondering as we're thinking of buying pre-paid phones/wi-fi internet modems and getting it sent to POR. We won't have a car.

@JenKat

I work right around International Plaza and could meet there.

I remember on the Med cruise, I met a couple sitting next to me in the hot tub that lived in the same subdivision as I did. We laughed that we had to go all the way to Europe to meet a neighbor! :)

It really is a small world, isn't it??

Morning everyone. Sunny here but in the low 40's. Youngest DS gets home today for Fall break so I am looking forward to having him around for a few days:woohoo:. Love having my babies at home.

Will be there for the CT meet in November.

Brooklyn- and others staying near the port- when your plans are finalized let me know we would love to meet you.
