I so envy you the opporunity for this get together. I wish there were enough of us either around here or my dd for a mini meet. It is nice to know some faces ahead of time. I do know a few people from previous cruises, but can't wait to meet everyone.:woohoo:

I wish I could meet everyone in advance! I look forward to meeting you on the cruise.

Okay, I just can't wait any longer to get involved. . . We will be booking this cruise tomorrow, had to wait until DH had vacation approved. I have been reading the forum but not commenting until I knew for sure. For those of you that were on the WBTA, I was there minus DH. I got in too late to do some of the activities so have been pushing DH to find out about vac so we could participate.

We live in Alameda and would love to do a NorCal meet up. The Disney Museum sounds wonderful. I vote for Nov 13-14 as my DH is out of town the 6-7, however if that date works better for most, I'll be there without him.

Judy

So glad you are joining us. Look forward to meeting you before and during the cruise.

Are you interested in the Aruba sail & snorkel charter we are trying to get together or the Costa Rica tour? There are a few other non-disney tours and other activities listed on page one. Look them over and let us know.

Val

I have been to the Disney Museum and it is neat (got D23 tickets to the preview days for DD and I :thumbsup2), but not really a kid oriented place (for those of us with kids!). Having said that, I can't really come up with anything better.

Whilst I would like to meet up before hand, we may have to give it a miss if there will be no other kids there. But I will see where, when and who before making the final decision.

For what it is worth, Sundays work better for our family.

-Kay

Kay - We will see what the consensus is on where and the date. Personally, we're flexible. Someone suggested a tailgate party before or after the museum so those who don't want to go in can still meet. You would only be a couple of blocks from the exploritorium, a great place for kids should you decide to come to the meet and greet but not the museum. val

Once you decide on a date and firm plan, will you write one of your nicely detailed summaries and I'll put it up on the first page?

Thanks for asking - of course - and we'll take pictures we can post too. Val

I am going to try and get to Disneyland Picnic area on Sunday a little early. If you are planning on going..can you let me know so I can try and save tables if possible. I am hoping to bring a couple lime green balloons to help pick us out!

You can just post here or send a PM....

Thanks!

Hi Des, count Mikayla and I in! I will be skidding in after being in Nor. Cal all week, but we will still represent!
Are we still planning on wearing a DCL shirt?

Nor Cal peeps...I may join you if you have your meet when I am there, I hope that's okay? In my heart I will always be a Nor Cal girl! Go GIANTS! Last I checked they were up 2-0, but I just got out of my meeting and couldn't find the current score--anyone know what it is?

It is going to be such a WONDERful cruise full of so many WONDERful people. I know we are all going to have so much fun and have so many great memories!:goodvibes

With all these Cali meets, almost think those of us in Florida should meet up. I see a fair amount of people from the Tampa area. We did just get the newly thought up Disney Store at International Plaza, and that's about as centrally located for Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties.....
Any takers?

Of course you can join us - It would great if everyone could.

GIANTS won. Holding my breath though. Still have tickets to the 1989 game 5 world series game. val

I will be honest..I don't think I have a DCL shirt..I think DH does and DD has a Castaway Cay shirt.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Just a quick drive by to say hello. January can not get here soon enough:)

Have any plans been made for a pre cruise meet near Port Canaveral. If there are several people staying in that area the night before maybe we can plan a brief get together or a dinner meet.

Hi Judy and welcome. I don't think we met on the WBTA. Wasn't it a great cruise? Glad your husband could get e vacation sorted to join you this time.

Re: Being late to ship...when we were on the Medi cruise a group decided to go to Rome on their own and missed the final train back (the port was an hour train ride away). They ended up having police (or the equivalent thereof) bring them back to the ship. They did not arrive until AFTER midnight (over 2 hours past departure time) and the Magic DID wait. Our servers commented that they will only leave people if it affects their arrival time to the next port. I would say that since Costa Rica and Manzanillo are relatively close AND there is a day at sea inbetween, there should be no problem. Whether or not I personally choose to do this will NOT be for this reason as I would think a smaller group will have far more success at getting back than even the Disney excursions...not to mention the fact that you will have several staterooms represented. I doubt they will leave multiple reservations behind). Of course this is only my opinion...but, it is based on evidence =0). I should also say that we too chose to do Rome on our own and we made it back in time, so it really is about being mindful of you time.

Another factor (I heard) was the port policy. If it doesn't cost extra for the ship to stay, they are more willing to wait. But if there are penalties for late departure (as might be the case by port policy, or if another ship is due), they are more likely to leave.

One idea I had for a meeting place prior to the cruise is the Disney Family Museum in the Presidio in San Francisco. http://disney.go.com/disneyatoz/familymuseum/index.html I spoke with Cathy in group sales and she indicated that if we have 10 or more people the following would be the entrance fee: $18; adults, $13; seniors, $10; children 6-17, and free; children under 6
While they would not offer us a meeting room, she felt we would be able to find room in the Café or on the porch in the front of the museum. They could provide box lunches and will be sending me a menu for our review. She also mentioned that there are a number of restaurants in the area we might like.
In honor of Mickey Mouse’s November birthday, that month they will be hosting a number of Mickey themed activities and exhibits.

It's been on my list of places to visit. I can't believe I still haven't gotten up there.... :rolleyes1

Harole ann, do you ever get down to Baltimore? We'd meet you. There are 2 other families from this area but i cant get them to respond about meeting up. :-(

i finally am starting to get excited again about this cruise!

@JenKat

I work right around International Plaza and could meet there.

I remember on the Med cruise, I met a couple sitting next to me in the hot tub that lived in the same subdivision as I did. We laughed that we had to go all the way to Europe to meet a neighbor! :)

That's funny, Jeff works on Westshore. When I'm off on Fridays I meet him for lunch somewhere around there - often Kona Grill. do you have a time frame?

We're staying at the airport the night before the cruise. We've never stayed there before, always been at WDW before a cruise. But DH couldn't take any more time off from work than the cruise. Plus we thought the kids would be in school for a couple days so I could get last minute packing done. Come to find out one goes back on the 4th, the other would go back on the 5th if we weren't flying to FL.

Is anyone suprised to hear this:
Disney Cruise Line was recognized last week as the No. 1 cruise experience at the Annual Readers' Choice Awards for Conde Nast Traveler magazine in New York City. Known as the leader in family cruising, Disney Cruise Line took the top honors in the Mega-Ship category, which is part of the magazine's annual readers' survey that recognizes the best in travel for resorts, destinations, airlines, cruise lines and car rental agencies. Samantha Brown, renowned travel expert and television host on The Travel Channel, presented the award to Disney Cruise Line President Karl Holz at the awards gala in New York City. In addition, the readers of Travel + Leisure magazine recently named Disney Cruise Line the Top Family-Friendly Large-Ship Cruise Line in the 2010 World's Best Awards poll.
