Not a good day here today - my Godmother has passed away :( I grew up with no aunts, uncles, cousins, or grandparents, so she was very close - loved me and my children like one of her own :(

So, I may be a little quite for a while.

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

We will be thinking of you and here for you when you are ready.

-Kay

OK trying to post puppy pic for Melissa...the Lab was happy yesterday, but after being pestered too much is not so much today.

Your lab looks so much like our Daisy:littleangel:. We had to put her down New Year's Eve. She was 14 Years old. She was the best dog ever and it broke our heart but she was in so much pain. She couldn't get up, her kidneys were failing and she was deaf(we would have to scream for her to hear us). We could not let her suffer . We have another lab(chocolate) that is almost 3 years old her name is Princess. They were good friends and Daisy was able to keep Princess "in her place" until the last 6 months. My heart still hurts. We also have a 13 year old cat(her name is Lilly Bell after Walt's wife) that got along very good with Daisy but she hates Princess. I think we should call this "The Disney Animal Lovers Cruise".

I am so sorry for your loss.

Thank you to those who sent me a PM - everything has been taken care of! We have our SM!

Well we have had a plummer at our house all day. We have a leak under the house in the foundation ... words like "Jack Hammer" were being thrown around when I left for work ... grrrrrrr .... When I told Hubby I wanted a vacation on the water, this is NOT what I had in mind!

Were you trying for that ocean view a little early? Sorry you're going through this.

Oh my goodness, she is precious!! It is a good thing puppies are so cute when they get in their crazy mode eh? =0)
My sister has a lab (Sarge) and when Samson arrived on Christmas morning, Sarge posted himself as his guardian. It was so cute to watch Sarge protect Samson all day, but he too got sick of the puppy-ness after awhile. If she is anything like the Brits I have had though, she will be glued to Gus from this point on...especially when sleeping! Did you end up naming her Lily?
I hope you get some sleep tonight!

Well All, I am sitting in the airport getting ready to head off to Sacro-tomato for the week. Melissa

Yes it's a good thing she's cute since today she's had four accidents inside and is, chewing anything and everything. She did so well yesterday and this morning for never being inside before. Her name is Lily which started as a short version of Tiger Lily, there's also a fairy named Lily that's TinkerBell friend and of course the Lilly Belle so it just kind of stuck.

I hope our weather is better for you this week than it was today as we were kind of wet today. Welcome to NorCal!

You must have taken great care of your Lab as 14 yrs is pretty old for a large dog though it doesn't make the loss any easier.

We live on a few acres so our dogs have always been outside dogs until lately, now they're totally spoiled. It's really great for my allergies.

I love animals - but oh boy, my allergies don't! We had a cat for 18 years, lugged him back from Germany with us. When he passed, we had the heating ducts cleaned and the carpet done. A couple weeks later, I started being able to stay awake after 8 pm. So, much as we missed him, we didn't get another cat. Dogs - I last about 2 hours in the same house. Horses - 5 minutes. :(

Remember, this weekend coming is the Meet at Disneyland. Check the first page for details.

Just have to share this photo. We went to a dumpling place for dinner last night and the children were so excited when their dessert buns arrived!

She is absolutely adorable. Hopefully she gets the hang of things quickly and good luck with the chewing. I have a 15 month old yellow lab that STILL chews.

I hope it is all taken care of and things are back to normal without too much disruption.

As Kay said - we will be here when you are ready. Hold on to all those memories, they will get you through.

It did not work that way on the Mediterranean Cruise, but if that is the case, I will stick with the one we have booked. They let you have the one you booked and the one with the group as well. Times change so I don't want to chance anything. Thanks for the answer.

Perhaps it has changed then and you now can have both bookings, though I would say it isn't completely fair if some people can't get a normal booking. I do think that concierge can get more than one booking, or those who know the maitre'd(sp) quite well.

However there are plenty of sea days this trip so hopefully everyone will get the bookings they want.

I'm not booking any Palo reservations so those have been up for grabs!!!;)

You can add us to the list. We all love animals  . I already worry about leaving my Cinder Ellie for 2+ weeks. :(

That's too bad that you can't have animals when you love them so much. I am VERY allergic to cats. If I'm around one for just a few minutes, my chest starts hurting, i get all stopped up, my throat starts hurting, and I sneeze like crazy. The strange thing is that I had allergy testing done several years ago and I had the max result on both cats AND dogs (along with several other things) yet dogs don't bother me at all. Perhaps being around them my entire life I have built up my own immune to them, much like the shots do. However, I never did get to see the full result of the shots because I had to stop taking them because I starting getting sick each time I'd get a shot.

Sally, I am so sorry for your loss! You and your family will be in my prayers as you navigate this difficult time. I know you have lots to think about with this vacation coming so quickly and you being so far away, so please let me know if there is anything I can do here in CA to make things easier. I would be happy to pick you all up at the airport or call Disney for you, or anything else to help ease the burden!

Harole Ann, can you send me a copy of the Mickey ear pic you have in your signature? I noticed yours has the correct date and I would prefer that over the blocked out one I made.

To everyone, take care of yourself and your loved ones as the holiday "crazies" are fast approaching!
Melissa

A water vacation in the middle of the desert.... impressive!
Here's to hoping it's not much of a big deal.

Hey! We have lots of lakes in AZ and also get PLENTY of rain during the summer, lol

My daughters dog was "in the dog house" for quite awhile due to chewing. She ate her MAC makeup containers and all, checks (they were salvageable), shoes, clothes, and $400 cash. It was the cash that really upset her. Told her to stop leaving stuff on the bed!! Dog went to obediance school and is now a happy family member

You can never tell from one trip to another but on the TA we had dinner at Palos the second night, at 8:30. There were only 4 tables occupied and one of them was obviously someone from corporate who spent the time drinking coffee and using his computer. We had multiple servers - to much attention frankly. The on-line reservation schedule had indicated no availability and didn't let us book more then one reservation. So have hope all of you looking for a reservation. Val

I spoke with the owner of the Banana Bus company in Aruba and have posted an update on the first page. He seems very nice and accommodating. There is still room, if anyone else would like to join us. 37.50 tour lasts 4 -5 hours and includes a visit to 'baby beach'.

Now off to visit that 6.com website again - they have REALLY cute shoes!

PUNTARENAS, COSTA RICA TOURS
I have looked forward to exploring the flora and fauna of the rainforests of Costa Rica for years (with a little shopping thrown in as well). While Bob’s choice is always a marine excursion, we both enjoy experiencing the true culture and history of a place only found when we meet and speak with locals. The DCL-offered excursions for Costa Rica just didn’t meet all of our desires – and we have found that offerings that require an official company cheerleader to count noses in a public room before being marched across the gangway to an enormous bus don’t give us the experience we get from smaller private tours. We also think it is fun to go with a DISboard group we have been planning our trip with and have gotten to know. So I searched for a tour company that might meet all these wishes and found Odyssey Tours. http://www.odysseytourscr.com

The Odyssey Tours and the Ramirez brothers, Alvaro and Diego, received the highest rating, 5 stars, on TripAdvisor with 59 reviews, http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attracti..._Tours-Puntarenas_Province_of_Puntarenas.html . Their experience not only qualifies them to package great group tours, it gives them the flexibility to create a small tour just for Wonder Dis’ers. When we wrote to Alvaro of Odyssey Tours and explained our needs, he suggested a private tour, which would give us both what we were looking for. That’s what Alvaro has put together for us – provided eight or more Castaways join us. Here is a possible schedule for our day.

7:30 a.m. pick up time (when ship is scheduled to dock)
Pick up and drop off is outside the dock; a free shuttle runs all day from gate to ship.

What helped convince us this was the company to trust with our only day in Costa Rica was their quick response to our many e-mails asking about features and services. When Valerie wrote that we really don’t like being squeezed into a van to fill every seat belt, Alvaro pointed out that the several types of vans and the small Toyota bus they operate are chosen so they are almost never over about 60 percent capacity. The Odyssey fleet are Toyota Hiace 2008, full insured vans, with A/C, that hold 15 passengers with very good seats and plenty of room but to warrant the best comfort they like to have no more than 8 people on this kind of vehicle. If we have 10 or more people they will provide a 25 seat bus. Wow! If 13-18 of us get together, they’ll book us on the 28-passenger Toyota Coaster. Cold beverages will be provided while on the trip.

Stops for bathrooms and some sightseeing on the way.
Riding in the air-conditioned large van or small bus, on the way to Costa Rica’s most popular national park, Manuel Antonio, our guide will give us a narrative of the geologic features, national history, local botany, as well as exotic tropical birds, monkeys and sloths. He will answer our questions about Costa Rica in general and also about the towns and sights we will pass. Some of the spots we can expect to see are: Jaco beach, different plantations, crocodiles in the river of Tarcoles, Hermosa beach, scarlet macaws nesting area near Carara national park, the colonial village of Villa Lapas and others. While we will stop if a bathroom break is needed, as our primary interest is visiting the National Park, we plan to drive directly to the park. If time permits and we want to stop for pictures and sightseeing on the way home, this we can do. Remember, this is our private tour and our input into the day will be taken whenever it can be.

9:50 a.m. Hiking into rain forest national park of Manuel Antonio with a nature guide who will provide books, binoculars and a spotting scope we can share during our tour (Entry fees are included in our tour price.) http://www.costarica-nationalparks.com/manuelantonionationalpark.html

Manuel Antonio National Park is a forest, thick with massive ficus and two- and three-toed sloths,

green and black iguanas, agoutis, four species of monkey (including the highly endangered squirrel monkey, known locally as the mono titi), raccoons, deer, lizards, crocodiles and nearly 200 species of birds, including 2 species of toucans. It's one of Costa Rica's most-visited attractions and not to be missed. Rangers limit the number of guests allowed in at a time to help ensure a good experience for visitors and the park. You will see great wildlife that can be easily spotted from well-marked trails -- a luxury you won't find in the Amazon. And because animals are so used to humans, this is one of the best places to see them up close.

10:50 a.m. Enjoying the beach.
After hiking through the forest we will have about an hour to relax and enjoy the beautiful Manuel Antonio beach. We’ve read that it’s equally good for snorkeling, swimming and just laying on the beach. There we will find new clean restrooms, complete with both inside and outside showers to wash the saltwater off and change.

The beach is good for the usual beachy activities; bring a towel, hat, sunscreen, even snorkel gear. Air temperature is usually around 85F, and water at about 80F (the Goofy pool is usually between 82 and 84). They also suggest a raincoat or poncho and, of course, good walking shoes. Beverages are available in the van and on the beach.

12:00 p.m. Hiking out the park for lunch

12:30 p.m. Lunch time.

The tour includes a lunch stop (cost included in the tour fee) at a quality restaurant where we can choose among traditional Costa Rican favorites such as rice, beans, green salad, plantains with fish, chicken or beef, or maybe you’d prefer rice with chicken or shrimp and a salad and French fries. If you would prefer more familiar foods, burgers and fries or sandwiches are available.

1:30 p.m. driving back to Puntarenas.

Stops for bathrooms, souvenirs, grocery store to purchase coffee, and sightseeing on the way.

On the way back to the ship we will have an opportunity to stop at a number of photo opportunities and souvenir shopping spots. These might include Villa Lupas and Santa Lucia, an eco-friendly resort within a tranquil rain-forest preserve for nature lovers. You can cross a suspension bridge to reach a small replica of a Costa Rican colonial village with a restaurant, cantina, church, and gift shops. http://www.villalapas.com/index.html

People have mentioned they like to buy postcards and mail them from the country they are in in order to get the postmark and stamps from the country visited. Alvaro assures us they can make this possible by stopping at places we can purchase them and seeing we have a way to mail them from Costa Rica. So bring your address list and a pen.

5:00 p.m. drop off in Puntarenas back at the dock and shuttle to the ship.

6:30 p.m. Wonder departs.

The cost of this full-day tour, with park entry fee and lunch included is $85 per person plus tip. Children under 8 years old receive 15% off, under age 3 are free.

No deposit, credit card info or prepay is requested; payment is at the end of the tour in cash. Prepayments can be made and Odyssey Tours hopes to have the ability to pay by credit card available by January.

PM me if you would like additional information or sign up to be part of this exciting day.

Just a quick note. Went to my trade show in Vegas and it was a ton of fun but information overload. I also went to the disney outlet store and scored two Tomorrowland Shag shirts for DH and I for $30. They will be perfect for pirate night and or tropical nights. Anyone looking at shirts I will be trying my new transfers within the next few days and I will post the pics.
