From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 3

Hi EVERYONE!
So, I have to come up with 10 posts to make so I can send a PM to get my information added to the website saying that I'm going on the cruise! (YAY) I've been wanting to do this cruise since the first Magic crossing, and it's going to be really special for my family. My mom and aunt have only been on the Disney Wonder (two times) ever as a cruise. So the fact that we get to do this cruise and it's STILL the only ship they'll have been on is kind of neat. I've been listening to the podcasts a bit, and now surfing around the boards more now that I know I'm for sure going (just transferred to Vacation Club today!). I'm not sure where else to do a full introduction (It'll have to be one of my ten posts) but I will pass out here a couple of things: First Cruising with Corey and Julie are a ton of fun (he was at my parent's dinner table their first cruise, wonder if he'll remember me) and if anyone has questions about Great Movie Ride I'm your guy to ask! Have a great weekend everyone!

In the future, you can also just e-mail me. monorailpilot@gmail.com (Well, not you, but anyone else in your situation)

I can tell you exactly who is playing. The champion of the AFC vs the champion of the NFC.

:)

Very funny Jeff. This made me laugh. I should point out that we also will be onboard for the BCS championship game. If things go like a lot of the experts say, my Ohio State Buckeyes should be playing in that game, and again losing to a team from the SCC. On a different note for you Jeff I have two questions. First with your umpiring, do you have your eyes on MLB or just little leauge? Second I was reading about a new position in the Monorail world, think you might go to that? Oh I lied one last question, think you will be piloting at all in Oct.?

Hey SmartieWDW. I was just reading and I thought inshoukd tell you this. A very good friend of mine used to work the Great Movie Ride when she was in the College Program. It is so hard for her not to do the script when she goes on it.

I'm too old to start umpiring toward an MLB gig. On average you need to be between 22-25 to start that career path. I am eventually looking to do Division 1 college games, but getting to the LL World Series is first. I also umpire High School locally.

No, as a seasonal cast member I won't be eligible for the Central Coordinator position (Which isn't new, it used to exist).

Yes, I'll be piloting in October, I just don't know exactly when.

One night we were riding the JC at WDW at the end of an e-ticket night. It was just myself, Jen and a friend on the boat. As we round the first corner, I say "Wow, look at those butterflies", My friend says "They grow from 12 inches, all the way up to 1 foot". The guide asked if we wanted to do the spiel ourselves.

Long story short (TOO LATE!), it was probably the most fun I've ever had on that ride. And yes, the Safari on foot got the point.

Cool. I will be there the 11-14 of Oct. and then back the 21-27. The time in-between will be spent on the Wonder doing B2B.

I haven't started packing for our TA cruise in September yet!!! I can't pack till the day before, though I have a box or two collecting things.

We will have about 9 or 10 weeks from arriving back from that vacation to setting off on this one, and it includes Christmas. I had better not put too much weight on as I have bought lots of new clothes for both trips!!!
:lmao: me too
Hello everyone! I have not been around in a while. But, now that we are getting closer, I thought I would jump back in. I hope everyone has been well and getting ready to go. DH and I are very excited!
hi, hope you are well.
Well, considering we are now officially 10% of the boat (and nearly 11% of the staterooms) we should have just gotten together at the beginning and asked for a group rate :)

:rotfl:

BTW, the website updates are now in full swing. The list itself is current. The map will be current soon. My goal today is to get the rest of the 2005 (and all of the 2008) navigators up.

Thanks.

Just heard from DCL that their transfers will be going to LAX. They recommend departure time 12:30pm or later. :cool2:

Hi! Have we decided NOT to do lanyards for this group? Just asking since I said a long long time ago that I would be willing to help out with this----I see that I have not logged in here since May 25th!?! Wow! Time sure does fly!

We have one more payment to make and our cruise will be paid off! I keep pestering my husband Tom to send Jeff our photo and to tell him that cardidog (Susan) (that's me!) will be 44 on January 17th. Sigh. Tom just turned 44 2 weeks ago---the day I got my 2nd dental implant:-(

I am trying to get ready for this cruise---I need to book a 1 way rental from MD to FL and I am patiently waiting for August 17th I believe to find out Southwest's fares back to BWI in January. I also need hotels at both ends. Oh, and tickets to Universal and Disneyland. And even more ground transportation. I am usually way more prepared!

I am in the middle of cleaning-out 3 generations of stuff from my house---so I have had no time to read the DisBoards here:-( We just sold 1,000 books for $65.00. And we have 26 more boxes that could not fit in the car! Needless to say, I have pre-ordered the new Amazon Kindle!

My next task is planning an Irish-themed retirement party for an archivist who has been at the National Archives for 37 years---does anyone know if there is such a thing as single-malt Irish Whisky? I only drink the Scottish stuff;-)

Jeff tells me that there are single malt Irish Whiskey. He's giving Jack a bath, so when he's done he'll get on and respond.
My horribly sarcastic reply to the concerige paid off. When I asked about excursions and was promptly told that they will be released.... in the next few weeks, I responded with a thank you, that was completely not helpful, but I understand the Disney canned responses. I got an apology today and was informed that hopefully the excursions for our cruise will be released this Friday afternoon on-line.
Hopefully.

Thanks. It's been very hectic the last 2 months. For those that don't know I umpire Little League baseball. When tournament time comes around, I actually umpire in two districts, which also happen to be in two different sections (Little league hierarchy 101 - local league -> district -> section -> state -> region -> international) so I'm in a lot of demand. I think between around June 1st and July 31st, I umpired about 50 games of baseball. I'm hoping next year will be my call to regionals, which is basically my audition for a World Series job (yes, you can watch me on ESPN or ABC if I make it there).

Now that all of that is over (and I took the last week for mental health), I'm back in the saddle on the website.

I've gotten through ALL the PMs and almost all of the e-mail (I missed 1 Stateroom change) so please verify everything.

Also, as PIF is coming up, I'm going to start going through and verifying that everyone is still on the boat. I don't want a repeat of 2005 for the poor people staying across the hall from me :)

Jeff, my son played travel baseball for YEARS. I know how in demand umps are (at least ones that can see, LoL!!) and how they often go from game to game. exhausting. So i really appreciate what you do for this.

and what happened in 2005?

Bushmills has a single malt, as does Tyrconnell.

In 2005, the room directly across from us was supposedly taken by a DIS'er. Said DIS'er was actually fairly active in the thread, and then, for whatever reason disappeared off the cruise and never told anyone. The person that ended up in their stateroom was basically bombarded with stuff daily, and unfortunately I was right across the hall acting as DIS central. While most people who accidentally got stuff we're ok with it, from what I heard, these people weren't.

To prevent that, I'm actually going through my list just after the PIF date. I'm going to do 3 things with that PM. First, I will verify if you are still going or not. Second, I will ask if you are participating in Secret Mickey or not. Third, I will ask if you are participating in FE or not.

Finally, as staterooms are very VERY much subject to change, I plan to post the list outside my stateroom AFTER Castaway Cay. Prior to CC departure, please come to my SR and leave a note if you have moved from what is currently on the list. I also will take full advantage of Concierge and have copies of the list printed out for everyone to grab if they need. I *may* hold our first sci-fi movie showing and Cat 2 open house that evening to encourage people to stop by.

Please don't plan on distributing stuff prior to that so we make sure no one gets stuff they don't want.

Thanks for the quick responses for the names of the Irish single malts! Now I just have to see if I can get my paws on some before September 2nd---the date of the retirement party!

Also, I forgot that we planned a sci-fi night (or 2)?! Just let us know if we can bring any DVDs---we have A LOT of them---also ones from the UK----we made our DVD players all-region so we can view them. I doubt that the DVD players on the ship play all-region---but you never know---maybe that is another question for Jen to ask the concierge team;)

We have the DVDs we need for scifi night. And what we don't have in our house my brother has. We have Star Trek (movies), Star Wars (all), Doctor Who (all the new series and some of the classic), Torchwood, BSG, my brother has Red Dwarf and many many more.
I believe the DVD players are US only, but I could be wrong.

Jeff no need to go out of your way PM me. We are going, we are going to be paid by the 8th. We are not going to do any of the FE or anything involving getting and giving gifts.
