Hi All,
I hope everyone is staying safe, dry and cool with all of this crazy weather! If you really want to get groceries etc., and get away from D-land for awhile, you could take the Hyatt shuttle to their hotel and then walk across the street to Target. Just leave DLR and turn Left towards all of the hotel shuttle buses and take the Hyatt shuttle. Easy, direct and FREE!!
With that in mind, if you are willing to leave DL for food, they have a Buca Di Beppo and Joe's Crab Shack near that same Target. People seem to really like to go to both of those places.
Personnally, I cannot believe "Goofy's Kitchen" has not been mentioned. We make it a tradition to go there every Christmas and Birthday--Just make sure you come hungry as it is a buffet.
Oh, before I forget...I cannot remember who it is that will be in CA for Christmas, but if you want to do something non-Disney but very cool, you could go to the Crystal Cathedral and see the "Glory of Christmas"-- it is a very good show.
Anyway, something to think about...

~Melissa

Thank you for the info about the Hyatt buses and Target.

We are breakfast at Storytellers last time and enjoyed that, so must look at Minnie's, and now Goofy's. I love doing these breakfasts, though John not so much. He just likes a slice of toast!!!!

We visited the Crystal Cathedral last(and only) time we were in Anaheim and it is worth a visit at any time. Quite spectacular. all that glass and they said it would be the safest place to be in an earthquake.

Oops, my BAD--it's not the Hyatt, it is the Crowne Plaza. I get those two mixed up all the time!

Happy Weekend!

Six months from today we'll be in Aruba. Anyone have any plans yet? We're thinking of maybe an island tour and then spending time on and empty ship.

Looking forward to getting to know you all .

We want to scuba dive in Aruba!:thumbsup2

Well, I promised myself I wouldn't worry about excursions until at least 6 months out. And...since it's 6 months, I couldn't wait any longer. My CCPD is taking over. I e-mailed Los Veranos Canopy Tours (zip line) in Puerta Vallarta http://www.canopytours-vallarta.com/ for information on group tours.

Jen, I think this is the one you were talking about. It has a little zoo, water area and restaurant for those who don't want to zip line or to enjoy after the zip line.

If we get a group of at least 25, they will gives us a 25% discount and a private bus. They can take up to 70 people on one tour. The zip line tour is $79 for adults (13 and over) and $58 for children 6-12. Shuttle only is $20 for ages over 6 to adult and free for kids under 6. The shuttle only gives you access to the zoo, water area and restaurant. These prices are without the 25% discount.

If you would be interested, please PM me with number of people. No commitment yet, I would just like to see how people are really interested. The excursion company told me if I can guarantee that there will be at least 25 people, they can block a time for us when we are ready and we can each call them directly with payment. Oh, and they offer a full refund if the ship can not dock for any reason.

Okay, so there is definitely a disadvantage to these boards...Usually I can keep my OC behavior in check by staying busy with other things, but with so many of you being planners (OC) as well, I felt "compelled" to research excursions:rolleyes1 Wow, that was a mistake!!!
I love the idea of going on the zip with the group, so count me as a "tentative" IN for two (maybe four)!
But...There is a repel/zip-line/swing in Cabo, Horseback riding/snorkeling AND zip AND scuba in Aruba, zip/rain forest boat tour AND scuba in Costa Rica. On top of that, that is just what I want to do...there's also a dolphin swim with all-day admission to a waterpark in Cabo---What on earth am I going to do??? :confused3

Hi and welcome. You're going to have a fantastic cruise!!!!

Geez Alan, you on vacation or something?? ;) Sounds like a plan.

:welcome: MickeysMouse and to your mom as well.

Well, I have some sad news to report - our Princess cruise for DH's family reunion will probably be canceled. Some are worried that Grandma will have health issues (she is 88 so understandable) and that it would just be too much for her. I have kind of been bracing myself for the news and it hasn't officially been nixed but I am preparing myself. So, in my sadness over that - I booked California Grill for Wednesday night at 7:35. Drinks, fireworks and then dinner. Works for me, and it takes some of the sting out.

Then I will have to decide where we are going to stay. OKW is my favorite but there are many resorts that I have not tried. We shall see.

Finished all my ADR's for precruise. The am of the cruise we are going to do the Characrer Breakfast at the Beach club. For Aruba it will be a renta jeep and then come back to the ship. Bt will see once the excursions come out just in case there is something exciting. Hubby and I never do SE.

:welcome: Jaclyn & Mom! Good luck with telling school that you'll be gone -- my DD will be a freshman this fall. Have you checked out the Teen Thread? There are a few older teens, too! Again...welcome!!

Alan -- we went to the 'north' side of town this morning, the part of town with Dunkin Donuts and YUMMY!!!! My DD is looking forward to Aruba:woohoo:

Bummer on the reunion cruise...wishing Grandma better health:love:, wow 88 is great!

DCL website said 120 days precruise for information on Aruba...waiting, waiting, waiting...

Our character breakfast will be Krispy Kreme & Starbucks at MCO (we're staying at the Hyatt) as it is our pre-cruise tradition and no KKs in our part of Texas! The characters will be supplied by the MCO travellers & workers:rotfl2: we LOVE to people watch at MCO (watch out!!)

Had great (sunny, humid, hot...it's Texas in July) Saturday with the :grouphug:family today and actually completed our To Do items:woohoo:...WOW!

:welcome: Jaclyn and Mom! My daughter will be a junior this year and will be 17 when we cruise. She's homeschooled so we don't have to worry about teachers. Check out the teen board and I'll tell her to go on and look for you.

:grouphug: Sorry to hear about your grandma and the cruise. Glad you were able to make other plans, though.

Everyone's Aruba plans sound laid back like ours. I love me some Dunkin Donuts and drink their coffee most every morning. I can't wait for the excursion list to come out.

Well, I would love to have plans, but the shore excursions aren't up yet!

I didn't even think about ADRs! I forgot you can make them 6 months out now. I'm calling now to make dinner reservations at Blue Bayou. Anyone have recommendation for any other good restaurants in DL???

Carnation cafe for breakfast-very yummy!

Welcome, Mickeysmouse :) Would you mind explaining the US high school system ?Is it middle school for three years, then high school for three ? Here in this part of Australia, the kids have 6 years of high school from Year 7 to Year 12 (used to be first form to sixth form). My eldest will have just finished year 8 at the time of the cruise, so will have 4 years of school to go until university (college).

It's getting exciting talking about ports ! Can't wait until excursions are posted.

The weekend was a debacle - I'll spare you the details - hope you all fared better !

Cheers,
Sally :)

Our family did the Canopy Tours (zip line) in Puerta Vallarta a couple of years ago and enjoyed it. Bring your own bug spray. We the ATV tour in Cabo and love it but you will get dirty.

Hi Sally,

The American Education system is all different (sort of) depending on where you live. High School is usually considered grades 9-12 (4 years) but some school corporations (for whatever reasons) have moved 9th grade to a Middle School or Junior High School. Elementary always used to be k-6th but also now some moved 6th grade to the Middle or Junior High. So elementary could be K-5th,
6th or even 8th grade Middle School/Junior High could be 6th, 7th, 8th and/or
9th grades and High School is 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th.

In our county we have 2 K-8th grade schools (one private, one public), several other k-5th grade schools (all public) 2 Middle schools (Grades 6-8 public) and one High School (grades 9-12 public). Closest non- Public High Schools are in Ft Wayne about a 30-60 minute drive depending on where in the county and where in Ft Wayne
