I've never understood the big deal over cruise directors. Never noticed them, never cared. Does it really make a difference?

I've had very little to do with cruise directors. The only real cool experience was that my first 4 cruises or so we had Jaquie - and I was astonished by the fact that even though they were far apart - she did remember us.

True, I suspect the reason she actually remembered us was our nephew, who before his first cruise had died his hair purple :rolleyes1

When we were waitlisted for conceirge, they called when the room became available. We had until close of business that day to call back and confirm that we did indeed want that room. We're still waitlisted for a cat 1. They said the same rules will apply, however we annotated in our waitlist request that they can change it without talking to us.

We just returned from the TA and Med cruises and i heard that Clayton was going to be cruise director on the Wonder. He is great! I had the opportunity of being his partner on "Dancing With The Crew". He is the nicest guy. I am not sure when he is supposed to start on the Wonder. If it is Clayton - it is going to be a great cruise. We had Brent for the TA and Med, and I that is all I am going to say about that.

Now Clayton is awesome. So friendly and personable. Looks like someone else was not that thrilled with Brent.

Is Clayton possibly a tall Black guy who's been on the 3/4 cruises before? i think we may have had him before. My experience in what a cruise!! directors purpose is is so limited i thought they were both fine. Can't say good or bad because i never really saw them except with general announcments and main cruise things like at the WDTheater making an announcement. So at this point, I dont care who the cruise director is! I just want to be on a monorail or boat and wont' be until January

It does when one says they will look into a problem about kids in the cove area, then let the problem continue right in front of his eyes and does nothing about it, yes to me it matters. I don't want to be on the ship for 15 days with a Cast Member who lies to guests.

I don't think you should be harsh on Brent or any other crew member.:sad2: I would bet he has to walk a fine line, between a complaint, and offending the other family. Sometimes people have to make a choice where someone is not going to be happy. You do not know why he made the choice he did. I don't see where he lied to you. It sounds like He just didn't do what you thought he should do. I have a lot of respect for these crew members who are there to try to keep everyone happy and safe. I think you should try to focus on that fact that you are blessed enough to be able to go on this cruise.:flower3: If something happens that you don't like, just let it go. Take your Wife and go find a new great memory! Its all about sharing the space. Keep in mind that not everyone will be happy about everything. Its you choice to be a positive or negative person.

Again, I disagree here. The way I look at it, if even the Cruise Director is not enforcing DCL policy when it is being broken right in front of him, then that person need to be disaplined. Sorry. He LIED. He said he would make sure that the crew know that the 18 and up area need to be enforced as he was gettingmany complaints about it, and then did nothing when he saw it. To me that is a LIE!!!!!. Also, Let it go? Really, so if I came over and splashed you with water and you did not like that you wouyld let it go. I guess like they say different strokes for differnt folks.

Did you splash on accident? Water will dry...... Did you throw it at me? If so, I would still walk away as water will dry. And I would not let a person with obvious issues get to me. Life is way, way to short............

I am not going to get into a debate here. You are entiltled to your opinion and that needs to be respected. I do not, however agree with that opinion. I do not like Brent. Plain and simple. I am entilted not to like him. In my view he lied to me. In my view he does not uphold Disney standard of a good Cast Member. I used to be a Cast Member as did DW. I know what it takes. If he is there on this voyage, I don't have to like it, but I can live with it. If it were just a normal 7 night I would change my reservation. Oh and if I was splashed accidently, I get that, accidents happen. The accident does not happen 6 times by tge sane person, and I would address the situation. I would not let it go espicaly if an adult was doing it.

Good Morning!

I liked Clayton as a person, but there were a few things that fall under his watch that I didn't care for.

1. scheduling. It seemed as though all the events in which an "artsy" person would be interested (ie draw a charactor, origami, scrapbooking) overlapped by 15 minutes or half an hour so that one couldn't get to all of them, and then there would be long stretches of "nothing" at all.
2. long winded "speeches" at the beginnings of shows, events and even announcements. Man, say what you gotta say and then STOP!
3. It seemed like there were fewer activities than on previous cruises. I haven't compared navigators, but there were a few times I would have been bored, had I not brought my own stuff to do (cardmaking, crosswords, books).

Of course that didn't stop me from rebooking. However, I did hope that a different cruise director might make different choices.

He was the Cruise Director on our last cruise. I can agree with all this. I do like the guy but I liked him a little more when he was just known as Hollywood when he was cruise staff.

We're off to WDW to have DS 3rd b-day party at toy story mania & pizza planet. Wish us luck and if we get any good pics, I'll share a few later. Have a great Saturday!
Hve fun.
Hi everyone! Happy Saturday!

Just checking in... Pixie Dust for your vacation and for the birthday party! I hope they are magical!

We will be riding the monorail this week! For 2 days we will be going to Disneyland as my SIL family is coming for thier first visit to the resort!

Today is an event for my DD. The Girl Scouts 500+ event - for all girls in our Council who sold 500 or more boxes of cookies. Should be a nice day. Her 1000+ event is in a few weeks and we are still deciding if we are going to that one.

I think I mentioned that we were fostering a litter of puppies..well..the last little one (TInkerbell) was adopted yesterday...kind of quiet around here with out the puppy chorus!

Have a wonderful day!
I cant mind you saying about puppies.
Just wanted to share a bit of tenitive info with you all. If the rotation of Wonder cruise directors stays the same, according to my friend at DCL Chritstian should be our cruise director. Looks like they are on for about 2 1/2 months at a time. Our cruise should be his last before vacation, of course this is all speculation, as nothing about cruise directors for the Wonder is confermed after the beging of Nov. Just like with everything else. When I know, you will know soon after. Stat tuned. I have to throw this out there, I just hope it is not Brent. If it was, and if we were not taking such a special voyage, I would cancel.
:cloud9:I wil be very very happy bunny if we get Christiaan, I found him excellant and very pleasing on the eye.(actually 3 generations in our family did):lmao:

Although we had no issues with Brent , I totally agree with you Alan, 18 and up is not diffucult to understand and or enforce. I hope its not like your experiance on our next cruises, last times weve had dn with us and never made it to adult areas, One of the many reasons I(and lot of other cruisers, parents and non parents alike) am cruising with dcl is because of the adult only areas, I truly hope that rules are respected and dont need to be enforced by cruise staff.

We just watched a tv programme about the making of the canal and the next bigger one, it was great, very excited about our cruise:yay:

The times I've cruised the CMs have been great about demanding that underage people leaving the adult only areas. I wonder if this might have been a "Make a Wish child"?

Your up early for a sunday:dance3:

Ive only been in kiddy places so cant really comment.
Roll on Serenity beach!:woohoo:

On our last PC cruise the family beach was quieter than Serenity Bay because there were so few children onboard!!!;)

:lmao:Your missing the point:lmao:

I have to give credit where its due, I have only ever met lovely well behaved kids on the disney ships.
I only want to see what it is like having never been before.

It has been forever since ive been on these boards. We leave for Barcelona on sat for the med and ive been consumed by those boards.

I think im looking forward more to this PC cruise though LOL

Holly has been keeping me up to date on things especially you grammaz:) ( Bethany was so excited when she found out you were going on this cruise).
Holly is coming down the week we get back for bethanys birthday.

Hope everyone is doing well and look forward to catching up when I get back.

 I am missing the point I guess!!!

We have never been on the Family Beach, we go to Serenity Bay, but on the PC cruise we just landed on a couple of loungers near to the then Stingray Lagoon. Very peaceful and quiet. I'm not sure that area is there now though. I keep being told that the Family Beach is much much nicer and cleaner than Serenity Bay too. Might give it a try this time.

Hi Heather. Looking forward to seeing you all again. Your Bethany is a really lovely girl and you should be very proud of her!!! Holly is really looking forward to her week down with you. Shame we aren't there to meet up this time.
Enjoy your Med cruise and then get back home and back chatting on here!!!

I think heck might be freezing over as I agree with Alan yet again. If a CM outright lies to you that they are enforcing a policy and then don't, that's wrong and should be brought up higher. DH is cast and I can't imagine him ever doing that.
If that family was a make a wish family, that still doesn't give them carte blanche to do as they please. I say that having known families who have done that type of program.
Sounds like not all cruise directors are the same. Here's to hoping it's Christian then.
