Thank you so much for all your well wishes and especially prayers.

It may be time for me to stop playing with bread, and get a job! :rotfl:

Bread??? Did someone say BREAD??? My weakness!

Be careful Tracy, I bake bread by habit and inclination and always too much. I'm well known in my neighborhood for looking for homes for "orphaned" loaves! :rotfl2:

I still have hope we will be with all y'all on this cruise, but even if not it's been fun dreaming this particular dream. I greatly enjoyed reading The Path Between the Seas, and learned so much from it.

I also want to zip line, and I really enjoyed the pictures that were posted.

On our last PC cruise they had an ex Panama Canal pilot who did 'lectures' both for adults and family. My hubby went and thoroughly enjoyed them. He also did ongoing narration from the bridge on the day of the crossing with interesting facts etc. I hope he or another is there this time as it did add to the occasion.

By the way it was all on the inroom tv's too with the camera view so you didn't miss everything by being inside at times. I believe the camera view was on the big outdoor screen too.

We're planning on DL after the cruise and for now we are booked at the Candy Cane Inn. I'd love to switch to DL hotel if the price is within our budget when they open up their dates, since I havent' been to DL since 1972 I'd love to stay on property- but am not sure it's worth it. I'll jut wait and see what it'll cost and switch if it's worth it to me.

I think we will be staying at the Candy Cane Inn, but haven't booked yet.

Steve and I are going to try to get into the GC using points but since we ARE using points, we have to wait until June to book. I'm hoping for a 1 bedroom so that I can get the laundry washed up. We'll be flying home on the 24th.

You know after reading the last page or so I have come to realize what the best thing about this cruise is, I don't need to worry about a room somewere or a flight. I get droped off at home.

Sure you know people! You know all of us!!!

Speaking of which, has there been any talk of "pre-cruise" Southern California meets? Or maybe they've already happened and we just missed them...

Or for that matter, "pre-cruise" meets in January at WDW? I know it's early, but hey, planning is half the fun!

I agree! Planning is half the fun and I think we need to start! Even if it is before final payment. If someone needs to drop out, so what? You just get someone else to be a part. On the 2008 PC we had all sorts of things planned before Final Payment and had a ball doing it all. It really brought the whole thread together.

We are hoping to stay at the VWL the night before the cruise and would be up for a mini meet that night. Maybe at DTD?

I wish we could stay on-board after the PC cruise to go on the mini-cruise---but we've never been to Disneyland so that is what we are doing afterwards. For the people who stay on the boat, you will probably get to purchase Disney PC items at a discount! When we were on the 5-night cruise just after the last PC cruise, I purchased a whole bunch of PC items for 1/2 price---never thinking that we would actually get to go on a PC cruise!

I am sitting here in MD, typing with one hand because the other one is holding ice up to my jaw----my tooth came out as scheduled yesterday but the implant didn't go in---I have to grow bone for the next 3 months and now the procedure is more expensive. Sigh. And to top it all off I received a letter in the mail today saying that my primary-care doctor is moving to Duke University and Tom and I have to find a new doctor---that stinks!

Oh, I finished David McCullough's book The Path Between The Seas today and I really enjoyed it! We don't need to get shots for this cruise---right?

I hope that you all are well---better than me at any rate!

Sorry to hear about your tooth. I was luckier in that I got my tooth pulled and implant put in all in the same day. I have healed well and quickly and get my crown today. I started all this in December.

No we do not need shots since we never get off the ship.

I'm with you, Marilyn. I really hope they have him or someone else on this cruise. We came across him talking to some other cruisers on Deck 4 the night before we went through the PC and he was really great to just talk to and answer any questions we had.

We will be there with you. Already booked CCI but will be watching for DLH rates. I really do think it is worth it, we have stayed at DLH twice before and I just love the feel of being there, the easy walk through Downtown Disney to get there and just walking around the resort grounds. They were starting the renovations when we were there in December so I am curious to see the finished product.

I would be happy to plan one... how far in advance does everyone want? I am busy most Saturdays in May/June with the exception of Saturday the 8th of May. I have some Sundays available.

Let me know your thoughts..would love to meet up!

Where would be a good place to meet? Sundays are usually not a good day for us.
Any other day would work.

We have Saturday May 8th available if you want to meet up soon. Otherwise..we have June 12th also.

Once we have a date - we can pick a place!:woohoo:

Being lunatic theater people with (count 'em) FOUR shows all going on at the same time, Saturdays are pretty impossible for us right now. I know Sundays can be tough for some people but if we want to do it at DTD a Sunday evening might be better because people who don't have Premium passes could go to the park. But we wouldn't be available on a Sunday until June 6. I take that back. We actually don't have any plans for Memorial Day weekend, so any of those days is an option for us, but we're probably the only ones in that boat!

We would definitely be up for a meet at DTD the night before the cruise. We'll be staying on property but haven't decided where yet. Depends on what ends up being available when we get to the 7-month mark. Would LOVE to try AKV if there's anything available.

For me the best part of going through the Canal was that guy narrating. And it was SO HOT out on deck that we ended up going to our stateroom to listen to him on the TV for part of the time. Don't know what the weather will be like there in January.

Just done a browse for weather and it seems all year the temperatures are around 85 deg or more. Rainy season can last till January, but they also say dry season is from January till April, so our chances of good crossing is great!! It can still be humid though. I remember the humidity well!!! Everywhere will be green and lush because of the past few months of rain.

Speaking of weather, the one negative about this cruise being in January is that once we get up closer to Baja, it's going to be downright COLD. That last sea day is likely to be freezing. Makes it kind of hard to pack! It will be moderate at the beginning, roasting in the middle and freezing at the end! Hmm...That was my only disappointment on the last PC cruise. Even in May it was pretty chilly the last couple of days. But it's worth it!! We'll just have to plan some fun indoor activities for that last sea day!

Those last two days were very cold Tracy. Could even be warmer in January so I'm not worrying too much, but will take some cooler weather gear anyway with being at DL for a few days after. Don't they have this thing called June Gloom or something? Well it was sure there that end of May!!!

What is the temp/weather likely to be in Cabo in January? Are you saying it will just likely be cooler on the last day coming up to California, or will Cabo be cold too? I have no idea about this area, I'm from the East Coast so all of my tropical vacations are to the Caribbean, so please enlighten me!

They have May Gray and June Gloom. I lived in San Diego for 3 years and it was probably overcast most of the day for like 50 out of the 60 days of those 2 months...not necessarily cold, but just depressing and overcast. But I guess that is a small tradeoff for wonderful weather the rest of the year, especially when I was tanning by the pool in January while my family was back home digging out of snow!

It can be cold in Florida in January, too, so it's not like your cool weather clothes will be totally unused. And of course those of us who are coming from DARN COLD and going home to it, too, will be prepared for both ends. The middle? hm. I could get used to it!

Well that is very true. We just spend 6 weeks in Orlando from 8th February, and it was really cold for all but about 3 days, and then not much better. I had taken a few cooler weather things but had to keep washing and wearing, and at first was layering clothes. There was a terribly cold wind coming down straight from Canada. Even our week's cruise was plagued by poor weather and a freezing wind on Castaway Cay!! The hottest day was the one we travelled home on!!!!:lmao: It was so hot getting the cases to the car.:rotfl2:

When my cousin and I cruised in March of '07 Castaway Cay's water was so cold no one could swim. I just imagine that January's water will be too cold too.

And yes, we're up for a pre-cruise meet at DTD the night before we sail too.

It is very unpredictable. December and January are the coldest months, but that doesn't mean there can't be days where it's 80 degrees. But it could just as easily be in the 50s. More likely it will be somewhere in the 60s, which, after a few days in the upper 80s with humidity will feel like the 50s! It can also be very rainy in Southern California in January. Or not. Honestly, there's no way to predict. As Nicole said, sometimes you can be laying out by the pool tanning in December and January. Other times you'll be bundled up in your wool stuff. But as Linda pointed out, you'll need those warm clothes for the trip home so you should be fine! I just got kind of spoiled because my only other cruise besides the WB PC in 2008 was a Western Caribbean in May of 2007 and the weather was PERFECT! But who cares? I'll be on a Disney Cruise!!!!!!

The water temp at CC is always a very subjective topic. I have cruised twice in January and found the water cold to get in at first, but then just fine. It basically feels like the warmest our water gets to in NJ in the summer. But others think even in March or April it is too cold to venture in, so its really a subjective thing. Me, as long as it is warm air outside, I'll get in the water no matter what. But if we got a cold, windy, cloudy day, that would be another story if the water was cold too.

Thanks to everyone for the info. I see some of us are on the same wave length. I booked CCI and am watching and waiting for rates for DLH and PP. We have never been to DL so would really like to get the full experience since I am sure we won't be going back anytime soon, but CCI looks like it is close enough to almost be on property.
