Well here is the Premier Pass update I promised. I am sad to say...............................................................................this is my last up date as DW and I are now owners of Premier Passes.

Congrats! Just hoping we have the same luck at DL in September.

Have fun at the Pin Trading Night this evening. Wish I were going to be there with you!

Yes it was a long battle, but we got it. I even took a pic. Here is the front.

I get the vibes (even across the usa and atlantic) you are pretty pleased with you pass Alan:thumbsup2
More than pleased, more like overjoyed. I have always wanted a Golden Disney pass, now I have one, and it gets me into every park in the USA.

Hello all!!!

Happy weekend!!!
It is spring break for us and we have nothing fun planned. I have to take DD to the oral surgeon to have all four wisdom teeth removed. Poor thing. Not a fun way to spend spring break, but she didn't want to miss any school. She is a senior and they are pretty strict about how many days you can miss if you want to be invovled in all the fun senior activities.
I can't believe my baby is graduating this year! Where did the time go?:sad2:

Congratulations Alan!! So glad you were able to finally get your PP!!!:thumbsup2

Candy, thats a big deal for your dd, I hope she is ok, school seems overly tough, poor thing having to use her spring break.

Thanks Lynne. I do too. I can't help but worry...especially since they are going to put her under. She has gone through oral surgery before to have some teeth removed that were fused to the bone, and she was put under then. She did ok, but I still can't help but worry.
She wanted to do it for spring break instead of waiting for summer. I guess she wants to get it over with.

She sounds like a very sensible young lady. GA's are always a worry, to think in the uk, years ago they actually done them in dentists surgery with no equipment or nothing! If her ga was fine the last time then I am sure it will go smoothly this time again:hug: Try not to worry too much, but I know she is your baby and you will.

There's "under" and there's under. For oral surgery they would probably use propofol - a technique also called "concious sedation". This is different and not nearly as risky as a full general anasthetic that not only makes you unconcious but also kills pain (the kind you would use for major surgery). Usually with propofol, the patient remains concious or semi-concious and novocaine is used to prevent pain.

Or put another way, the drug makes you not care, and also forget the entire procedure and most of the aftermath (it's sometimes called "milk of amnesia").

As long as the doctor is properly trained and has emergency procedures in place you should have nothing to worry about. :cool2:

Just saving us from a trip to page 2. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend
Only thing good about weekend is it finishes tom and I can go home from work

All very interesting in vet medicine we put the animal under a proper ga(et tube and stuff)with propofol, when I had abdo surgey I got propofol for a full ga,also, we have clear propofol now that can be stored for up to a week after vial is breached, just thought you might be interested as I was in your details.
Now a lot more makes sense with the mj thing, I did never get how they could give him propofol, but it is obviously used diff in the us,mmm interesting,

I think here they also use propofol as part of a full ga - but I've never experienced that (thankfully). But I have experienced its use with concious sedation. For things like wisdom teeth, it's the only way to go as far as I'm concerned. One minute they inject you, the next minute it's all over and you're totally relaxed. A few hours later you suddenly realize that you don't remember pretty much anything that happened from the time they injected you.

One time while having an upper GI endoscopy I actually woke up in the middle (and I actually remember it happening). But I wasn't in any pain and I didn't really care, and they put me back out right away. But it does suggest to me that it's a pretty mild level of sedation. :cool2:

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth out in 2008 and I had really psyched myself out over it. I was so nervous about the procedure that I had extensively researched it online for weeks before, and read horror stories of people waking up in the middle of it, and teeth that were difficult to get out, etc. You name it, I read it. I actually needed the doctor to give me a pill to take before I even went to the office that morning because I was so nervous. I don't know what he gave me, but I'm sure glad I took it because one minute I was freaking out, then I took the pill, went back to sleep for an hour, and then woke up to head to the office and I felt totally relaxed. The whole procedure went fine, I didnt wake up, and I'm so glad its over with! I am so glad I got all 4 done though- I can't imagine ever having to go back to get the rest out if I hadn't done them all at once!

oops, thats a bit scary. But that does happen even with full ga's, anyhow I dont want to repeat any drug induced ops any time soon!
I will stick to giving rather than getting.

It is scary isnt it! I got diazepam tablet pre tonsils out, it was amazing what a little tablet can do, from scared to death to whatever.

Hope all goes well with the wisdom teeth. That can be nasty!

DS had his heart surgery on Friday and is doing well. We are hoping that it bought us 5 years before he needs another.

How many cruises can I book in 5 years?!?!?!?

HA HA HA!!!!!!!

Hey does anyone know where the best snorkeling is in Aruba?

I know I have even more cruise questions for you all but I can't think of them right now...

Well, one of my wisdom teeth did turn out to be a bit of a horror story. In fact, the first words I heard coming out of the anasthetic were from the surgeon, who had quoted a flat rate saying "boy, you got a bargain".
The specifics of the complications I prefer not to dwell on, but ever since the bone graft surgery that took place several years after the tooth was removed, everything has been fine :rolleyes1

OMG!!! That sounds awful, I can't imagine the rest of the story behind that! That is exactly the kind of story that I had been reading about online, just horrific "what if" scenarios...one person said she woke up and the surgeon was in an awkward position really struggling to get the one tooth out, and the girl was freaking out whining for her mom....that one really psyched me out. Thank goodness it is all over for me, I cant imagine reliving that fear again that got the best of me!
