From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 2

Sounds like Delta flights :) We'll be on Delta from LAX to TPA (They have a direct redeye). I love the fountain in the middle of the DTW terminal. Especially when people don't realize that the water flows over the outside and they lean against it :)
Yep, it's nice. I enjoy reading all of the things that people write on the rocks in the plants around the fountain.

Sadly I've spent way too much time waiting around in DTW. I travel for work and am a PM with Delta. Too much flying sometimes! We were originally scheduled out of LGB through SLC on the way back but DL changed their schedules around and our LGB->SLC flight would have gotten in later than the last flight to DTW -- which is hard to believe since it's a hub. Anyway, I'm happier with SNA>MSP>DTW since it'll all be on former NWA metal.

You can't send a PM because you haven't made enough posts yet. I believe you have to make 10 posts before you get that capability.
Yep, I know. Thanks. I think it's a silly rule.

Waiting on SW which will be Tuesday at least for the MCO leg. Have not checked Delta as I do not want to pay for bags.

We also are waiting for SW, but I have been checking the other airlines. I wanted something to compare the SW to.

I've been wondering when Virgin America will reopen/reschedule the forthcoming SF to Orlando non-stop. That would be very tempting even with the baggage fees. :cool2:

I'm waiting for the SW fares also. popcorn::

I did check Airtran and the flight back from LAX is actually a little cheaper than the flight to MCO. I have never flown to or from CA but I just figured it would be much more expensive than flying to FL. Guess not.

How much luggage is everyone bringing? I am really trying to keep it light but how light can you be on a 15N cruise?? Plus all the stuff I am going to buy on the cruise and DL-I am just planning on shipping things home from CA.

We know we are shipping our suitcases back from DL. It costs about the same as luggage fees on the airlines. With a toddler we can only pack so light.

We know that we will have to pay for our bags but the cost of our air was a great deal and even with paying for the bags, I think it will be about even with the fares for SW. It was the schedule that was so important to me so it will get us to MCO at a time I feel we can still do something at the parks.

I definitely see the advantages to flying with SW but when we saw the fares for ours, we grabbed it. All that matters is that we all get there in time to get the ship! :rotfl2:

Probably our standard 4 x 29 inch cases at 70lb each and then likely a couple of other smaller carry-on/roll-aboard type bags.

Sorry to overrun the thread with potty talk!

Jack is prone to having a sensitive behind, and with the summer heat, he really needs to use the potty and get out of the diapers. We are doing rewards with him. The kid loves coins. My dad (the accountant) bought Jack a train piggy bank for Christmas. Jack now hoards coins. So for everytime he pees he gets one coin, if he poops he gets probably a whole roll of quarters.
Smart planning on our part - the piggy bank is going to be the smoothie budget on the cruise for Jack...

Well, I only have girls, DD4 and DDalmost 1. I didn't think DD4 was ever going to potty train. She actually started hiding her accidents by putting blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, etc on the puddles. And everyone says girls are supposedly easier-I DON"T THINK SO! I have heard that with boys putting Cheerios in the potty to be targets supposedly helps. At least he won't be in diapers for the cruise and should be able to enjoy the kids clubs. Good luck!

Hey everyone! I'm back from my sister's and the birth of her son. I actually saw him being born and it was such an incredible experience. He is so cute! Someone asked for a picture, I'll post in a few minutes as I have to get one uploaded.

As far as potty training, DD was a breeze. By 27 months, she was done and only had a couple of accidnets after that. DS was a different story. He peed in the potty for the first time just a couple of days after his 3rd birthday as he had ZERO interest before that. We posted a chart next to the potty and we told him that he would receive a sticker for each time he used a potty. For each 10 stickers, we told him he would get a new Thomas train. Didn't take long and we had to change the incentive :goodvibes as he was doing so well. He did great for a few months then had an accident at the kids' club at the gym. Took a couple of weeks to get him back on track but we kept telling him that if he wanted to to go the kids club on the Mickey Boat that he had to use the Big Boy Potty. Every time he would run to the potty he would say he wanted to go to the Mickey BOat Kids Club. He hasn't had a day time accidnet since about 3 yrs, 6 months and has only had a couple of night time accidnets since (he's now 4 years, 3 months). I think the Mickey Boat had a big influence on him.

A funny story about my other nephew (age 4 1/2). I was packing my bags in my car yesterday and he wanted to follow me to my car. I told him that I had to hurry back inside because I had to use the potty. He said "Well, there's tree right there!" I told him that I'd rather just go inside. He pointed to another tree and said "Is that one better?"

Oh, and BTW, good luck to Jen and all the other mommas out there in Potty Training Boot Camp! I'm glad those days are over with!

OFf to get a couple of pictures uploaded.

Here he is with his Aunt Carmen the day he was born (June 8)!

I'm anxiously waiting for Tuesday for SWA to release their next set of dates. I've been checking other dates and the general trend is that it is cheaper to fly out of Dallas, San Antonio, or Austin than Houston. Why does my city have to be the highest when it's actually the closest (albeit just a little closer)??? I've seen the difference as little as $35 each way to as much as $100 difference each way. That adds up when you have 4 to fly. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait and see and maybe I'll be in for a nice surprise!

I've checked other airlines and SWA is usually the cheapest or close to it. Add in the free bags and it's usually still the best price. Plus, Houston Hobby is less than 30 minutes from my house in good traffic. Airtran also flies out of HObby and sometimes cheaper but they usually connect through ATL and then with the bag fees and it's usually a wash with savings.

I better get to searching again to tomorrow so I can make sure come Tuesday that I'm getting the best deal :thumbsup2

Does anyone know when Jet Blue is scheduled to release its next set of dates? Right now they are only selling through 1/4/11.

Carmen, congratulations on your new nephew...he is beautiful.

Good thinking.

We are taking a carry on and 1 suitcase, anything else is too much expense and hassle. The more room I have the more I take.

Carmie, glad he arrived safely.Do they have a name for him yet?
Funny about the trees, I heard a mum and kiddy conversation at the swimming last week, it involved the mum saying she needed to pee and her son telling her not to worry just to pee in the swimming pool, bet she could have killed him:goodvibes

Carmen, your little nephew is so adorable!!! Congratulations!! Seeing those sweet pictures is getting me so excited about the arrival of our grandson in mid July!

DD is graduating from high school Thursday and her older sister is coming (with her three DDs) from AZ to see her graduate. I can't wait to see them!

She really enjoyed her prom. Here are a couple of pictures.
