From the Med to the Panama Canal

Has anybody decided where they are staying the night before the cruise?

Haven't decided, but will probably stay close to the airport at a cheaper hotel so we can get to the port early. We like being an early bird.

Kelly-I know what you mean about staying motivated for this cruise. We have so much going on between now and then, this cruise is just way off on my list of things to do! However, after the 1/2 marathon Labor Day weekend, I will start focusing on the scrapbook class as our scrapbook expo here is on September 29 and I like to get some ideas from that and get some good buys!

Okay-laundry to do!

Linda, We paused HSM and easily picked out Jamie! That was fun. How's your knee, I saw on your other thread that you injured it on the Med trip. You could always walk the 5K with Anna and I.

Gydell, if you need me to check any places out I can do that for you. Any ideas of narrowing down?

The more I think of it the more I am leaning towards the Radisson at the port. That way I can get up early and take a cab over and the rest of my party can come over later on the shuttle. I would love to get an upgrade even though I know it will be next to impossible so I know I would have to be there early. I don't think we will come down until Friday evening since DH will have a hard time taking off more time and DD, DGS and myself will be staying for 4 nights at the DL hotel.

Hi Everyone!:goodvibes

Jeff and I just booked a cat 10 for this cruise! :cool1: I had been calling and checking on line for a while now and last saturday I was able to grab a stateroom. We are really excited. I was afraid nothing would open up until final payments were due.

We will stay at the Radisson prior to the ships departure. We did this in May and it took a lot of stress out of the trip for us.:thumbsup2

Some of you may know that for several reasons the first half of this year didnt go too well for us. We had an adoption that fell apart and my father died while on the transatlantic cruise.
Jeff and I are pretty happy people and we just knew in our hearts that this year was going to get better..... We have been chosen by another birth mother and are expecting a son in October! :cloud9:

My motivation:
I have to keep in shape now, because I will have a son to chase after (haven't a CLUE about little boys) I wont be working, so need to watch the spending, and I have this great cruise to plan for!

Is anyone planning to visit DL after the cruise?

Cynthia

Congratulations on the baby and the cruise!

:grouphug: :grouphug: and :welcome: :welcome:

I certainly hope the rest of the year goes better for you.

We should be a fun group (and livelier) as the cruise gets closer.

I am considering DL or CA after the cruise (and WDW for a day before) but I won't be able to solidify anything until closer Jan or Feb. I have offered to help chaperone a HS trip to France and Germany next June if needed so I have to lay back on before and after plans for this trip until I find out if I am needed there.

Congratulations, Cynthia and welcome. We didn't get to know each other on the last cruise, but we've thought about you so many times and always wondered what happened with the adoption plans. He'll be a good travel age by the time the cruise comes. Don't forget to apply for a passport the week he's born!!!!! I didn't know that you lost your father at the same time. Yes, New year's eve is a new beginning for you this year. Glad to have you aboard. Kelly

Hi all, we are on this cruise as well. Me, Vanessa, DH, John and DD's Samantha (5) and Haley (3) (at cruise time)...we are looking forward to the May repo and wish it were sooner.

We are staying at Saratoga Springs the Friday beforehand and two nights at the Grand Californian upon reaching LA.

I am also on the other thread we have going.

Hey Vanessa, We're going to have a nice group of 5ish year olds.

Welcome, some of us know each other and others were on the later Med cruises. We heard so much about the PC from the group we were with that we got hooked. It's a really nice group of people and we had fun on the repo and/or med cruises. We're you on one of the Med cruises?

Nope, we originally booked the May Med Repo but after pricing airfare for the four of us I got scared and cancelled!! But everything is a go for this trip! Everything is booked already!

We have booked a cat 10, and have been wondering if a cat 11 or cat 12 open up if we should downgrade. We havent stayed in an 11 or 12 and wondered if the savings is worth the loss of the split bath. ?? Any thoughts?

Have never stayed in an 11 but I am this cruise. We have always had 8 or above but the difference in pprice was our deciding factor. We are never in the room except to sleep and dress.

Thats what I was thinking as well. Is there anyway to find out how much they are charging for the different rooms? Because the cruise is sold out, I cant find any pricing information.

We had the single bathroom last trip (which we had never had before) and it didn't bother us at all. It was not having the window or balcony that drove us insane.

Vanessa, sorry you missed the repo, the air was ridiculously expensive. It's one more reason that this trip is going to be so much more relaxing. You will love being on the ship for the 15 days. I loved it, I think I saw about 17 movies on that trip. Many years ago, I went to film school and then worked at Sony Studios, so I would see about 5 movies a week. I'm a movie and TV junky, so for me that was a blast as well as the classes etc. Having DD5 able to go to the kids club was excellent.

To those of you that are going to DL - how are you getting there after the cruise? Thanks

Yep, that pause button works great! She is excited to be coming to DL in a couple of weeks! Shari told me the kids are going to hang out while we have lunch on Sunday.

My knee seems to be okay for the most part, but then I'll get on the stairs and I feel that little "twinge" in it. I'm still going to do the half, hopefully it will hold up. Guess I'll know after running around DL on Sat and Sun!

Did you guys watch HSMII? Really, I shouldn't ask. Of course you watched it. Jamie hasn't watched yet. Her good friend, Shawn is one of the dancers. I watched. At the very end of the movie he is dancing and they keep cutting to him and he does a leap frog over another guy (he used to do that over Jamie when they performed!). Of course, his leap frog over Jamie was much better. He is wearing an orange shirt and orange hawaiian looking swim trunks.

Anyway, Karen PM'd me and her and Alex are joining us on this cruise (I imagine with the kids too.) She said we could get together here in SLC and she could help me plan the scrapbook class!

Okay, gotta finish cleaning house.

9 weeks from today I am on the Wonder for the DVC Member cruise!:cool1:

My friend HoagiePie met some of you on the transatlantic back in May and told me about this thread. We initially didn't get a spot on this cruise but while some of you were on the transatlantic cruise a couple GTY's came up and I snatched one for my family. Me-Brenda(35) DH(34) DS(7) DD(5). I just wanted to say "hi" and look forward to meeting everyone and going on the PC cruise:cool1:

Welcome, Gator family! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I think Hoagie Pie is on the return TA right now with DizzyAnn. I hope all the storms are passed by the time they get to the east coast.

Nice to have you aboard.
