We are staying at Pop during the week of 12/27. On 12/31 we have a 8:50 breakfast booked at BOG. What time should we leave the hotel to make sure we get a bus, wait through security at the MK and reach BOG? Usually I leave myself an hour, but with the crowds I am guessing we need to leave even more time. Let me know your thoughts. THANKS!

Doesn't MK usually reach capacity on NYE in the morning? I'd aim for rope drop entry.

I'd think that you'd want to be at MK by 6:40AM to experience the Rope Drop MK Welcome show and maybe ride something at MK between 7AM and your nearly 9AM reservation.
If so, be at the resort bus stop by 6:00AM.

If all you want to do is hit is your ADR time, be at the resort bus stop by 7:30.

Thanks! I would love to do the rope drop. My two concerns

1) My younger son will never be up and out by 6am.
2) If he ever did make it out by 6am, he might not make midnight.

Sadly, it will probably be 7:30 for me :(

I was there last year for NYE and "strategically" planned that particular day for AK. We stayed at the Poly and had FP for the safari that morning between 9:30 and 10:30. Got to the bus stop around 8:40 and the bus didn't show up until 9:25 and still took about 20 minutes to get to AK. (I'm the designated Disney planner for the family and, yes, I was freaking out!) The bus stop itself was packed with people trying to get to HS too and they had taken on extra buses! Getting back to the resort around 2 was tricky as well as they couldn't use the main entrance into the magic kingdom as the entrance to Magic Kingdom was all the way to the entrance ramp!

I had expected traffic issues that day but thought it would be worse in the later morning/day - not that early! I would think earlier might be easier though but somewhere around 8am is when things start getting nutty!

Thanks for the reply. I am going to target getting the family out by 7am. I rather be there early and hit a ride! Hopefully the can all get up and get out!

Yup.
If there is a single overriding truism of WDW, it would be...
"It's better to time your arrival for FAR too early, than it is to arrive one minute too late."

I was there this past NYE and we were on the bus about 745ish or so. Our driver took a back route and at one point had us look out the windows to see pure traffic gridlock, Disney buses included, trying to get to MK. He said he estimated the backup to be a 5-6 hour wait! Not sure how perfectly true that is but it surely looked very plausible. We got there about 8:30 and we were on Main Street by 8:41am. I was actually surprised because I feared a huge pileup at security but it was extremely efficient and fast. We walked there with a huge group from the buses but once at security it moved quickly. I would agree and say you need to be out of your hotel and on the bus as absolutely early as you can be. We thanked our lucky stars for getting a driver who went a roundabout back route because otherwise, at 745am, we would've already been up the river without a paddle.

When we were there last NYE we were told it had hit capacity by 10am but I'm not sure how true that is, we had heard it in passing. I would definitely believe it was though! We were told later it had been closed to capacity twice that day but again, not positive that's true either. Sure seemed it! That night stupid idiot me made a desperation reservation at Tony's for 840pm...let me tell you, it honestly was like the final scene in Titanic! I told my boyfriend if he could get out of the mess, go to Tony's and "leave me, I can find it blind folded!" They accidentally corralled us in near/in the Hub and blocked off all three exits and every CM kept saying "you can't go that way!" I thought there was going to be a fight!

But I digress...OP, up and out as early as you can be, and when you see crowds coming, go the other way hahaha but you'll have a great breakfast and a great time! Just don't try to eat at Tony's at 840pm!! hahaha
