Now that that the new banking deadline has been implemented for those members who refused to 'learn and follow' the former rules, perhaps it is time to reduce the seven month window to four months giving those who bought into a given resort more time to make reservations at there home resort. Making a later reservation may result in not having to cancel since one could wait three months longer to make that reservation. That would make everything four months and therefore easy to remember.:thumbsup2

Considering many people have to make airline reservations and ADR's are now available at 6 months, I don't think 4 months is enough time. Keep in mind the contract only requires a 1 month priority, which means they could change it to 10 months.

I could be wrong, but I don't really remember too many people complaining about the 100%-50%-25% banking windows. I'm sure there are a few. But I haven't seen any frenzy of discussion about it until the rules were actually changed for this year. I have a hunch that DVC did it for their own convenience. I bet it is easier to track in their new reservation system.

I don't really have much comment about the 4-month non-home resort reservation window that you are endorsing. As long as everyone has the same playing field I am not too worried about it. I normally use the 11-month window anyway. That is why I keep adding on at the resorts I would like to stay at. Hmmm, now that is something that I see on the boards over and over, "Buy where you want to stay". I guess if you subscribe to that, the non-home resort reservation window doesn't really mean as much to you.

I think MS really did spend a lot of time explaining banking windows to members. Those of us who frequent the DIS are not typical.

But I agree that it's unlikely that DVC will make the home resort booking window longer, although those of us who almost always want to stay at our home resort wouldn't mind if they did, LOL.

FWIW, I think DVC Grandpa was mostly posting "tongue in cheek" since he was negatively impacted by the banking rule change.
