From Oil Wells to Jingle Bells-Bells,pg.66, See you in September!

Hey! The other half here. :)

We're arriving on the 22nd and staying through the 27th. We're staying at WL this time (the first time for both of us). Do you guys know where you're staying yet? If you do end up going that is.

Great to see you both! You two were by far the most fun people we met while we were there. :)

AW! isn't that cute? you guys even read the Dis together! (nebo's been asleep for hours. i recently got home from work:lmao:)

IF we go, it will be earlier in the month. the 27th is our grandson's 6th birthday. we will celebrate our grandaughter's bday labor day weekend, and leave after that . (those darns sons of ours should have consulted us when they conceived their kids. they KNEW we like sept. in WDW!)
and we are looking at a split stay between AKL and BLT, if available. OR CSR and BLT.
you will really like WL. make sure to make ADRS for whispering Canyon.

OK. that's it. you know those big boxes of clothes you sent to us for our granddaughter? I'm sending them back. I'm convinced they are hexed.. this is just TOO eerie!

I would just like to mirror the being able to take lots of WDW trips part. Thank you!

Haha... we work at the same company and do the same job so our schedules are scarily similar. lol

Too bad we'll miss you. There's still a chance we may move ours back to Oct. or Nov. if we ever get a pin code. We just got tired of waiting so we booked on the current specials before they sold out.

We ate as Whispering Canyon last month and both loved it. I think that's why we wanted to book at WL so bad this time. I just wish it was Sept. already! :lmao:

I see a retina specialist too. I had cysts form on my eyes about 2 years ago and they burst! the most painfull experience of my life and i have had 4 c-sections. I will never rub my eyes again. On Monday I just had a follow up visit with my specialist (I swear we have some freak connection). Thanks for the reminder of how important follow up visits are.

Oooh, sorry to hear about that, Monica. My wife had cysts too, long before my problem. Except hers were on the macula. Her specialist (same as mine) told her that if they burst, she could go blind in that eye. But she had a 50-50 chance that they'd either grow and burst, or shrink by themselves. So she went back every 6 months for monitoring -- for 10 years! After 5 years of no change, they finally started shrinking - for the next 5 years. Luckily, hers didn't burst. Sorry to hear that yours did, and that it was so painful. Glad you didn't lose your sight, though!

I wasn't aware that rubbing your eyes had any effect on it.

Hey, Bob's a veteran too! Yep, you were right on the edge of a tear, Posterior vitreous detatchment is a BIG warning sign of a retinal detatchment, sounds like you got it just in time.
And you know what? We live less than 4 miles from I-90.
Coincidence? I think not!

Thanks for the story, Bob .

So when do I get my shoulder patch? :lmao: No? How about a merit badge? Anything??? :rotfl2:

You're welcome for the story. I told you before, when I read your reports they feel like old-home week to me!

Funny thing is that whenever I fly back to Chicago on that ATOD(tm), I know there's a good chance that my movements are being controlled by my baby brother from Rockford! He's an air traffic controller in the Aurora through-center. It freaks me out sometimes to know that all you guys may be subject to baby brother's whims :lmao:

I remember something about that, too, Monica, didn't know it was that bad. Bob just used a great term for that inferno machine: The Optical Cannon.

Oooh. Capitalized now. That makes it Official! I hearby grant you Limited Worldwide Rights to use the term, as long as it's followed by (tm) :rotfl2:

Hey Bob, I'm from Rockford :rotfl2:I wised up and moved to Texas years ago.

Yah, I moved to California. 33 years ago. Don't miss the weather a single bit. But I still like the area -- both Chicagoland and Rockford. Have been water skiing on the Rock River many times.

-Bob

I was a bad eye rubber until I got those cysts. I must have been rubbing them in my sleep and it woke me up to the most painful experience. Crap running out of my eyes, the pain!

I had to put gunk in my eyes in the morning and at bed time for over a year.

I have been cyst free for over a year, so now I can wait 18 months before my next apt. The dr said I had, macular degeneration? He says it looked like I had an injury to the eye. I swear I never remember doing anything to my eye at the time.

I am better, glasses are thicker and in 10 years he said I won't beable to read close up.

Nebs, hope you are feeling better. I entertained the crew while you were resting.

You had me on the edge of my seat. I'm not sure I want to read this "chapter" to my DD. She hates needles! Although, she has never been shot in the eye...

I hope you are feeling better soon. Maybe writing it up will help you cope? :wizard:

Too late. I already read it. :cool1:

Sorry to hear about your terrible eye experience. The older I get, the queezier I am. Used to be able to watch real procedures on the medical channel with my mom (who still loves watching gorry operations). I can hardly even handle giving blood anymore. I gave 3 months ago and came as near to blacking out as I'd like. So the next time I donated, I drank so much freekin' water that they had to stop mid-prep so I could go pee!

I had lasik done 5 years ago and would say it was the BEST thing I ever did for myself. I was scared as H3ll and thought I was insane since it was totally voluntary. I almost talked myself out of it. Then while waiting in line, they handed out valium like M&M's....that was nice :hippie:. Remember laying there thinking--you stupid idiot, maybe contacts AREN'T so bad :confused3.

I am interested to hear more about the fuzzy cup situation. I think I need a closeup shot of your cups. Do they have lids? You just walk right in with them? I remember you also mentioning Sunny D bottles. Hmmm that might work too. I've never 'relaxed' enough at WDW to drink 'in' the parks. I'm always afraid I'll just want to lay down on the closest park bench and sleep. That would not be pretty--my teenagers would dis-own me (no they haven't already!)

Last month we went to San Diego and it was cold and rainy there. We went to the zoo and we bought one of their refillable mugs and got unlimited hot chocolate. I kept thinking of you two and how you'd probably been prepared with schnapps or Baileys. Hope to hear more about your adventures and how the heck you and Smidgy kept warm.

Hi everybody, gonna do some quick call outs here and then get back to work on the next chapter, it should also be up a little later on.

Did I mention I have had a graph from my hip to put in my toe? cue the eerie music.......

Ok Monica, I still have my tonsils, but lost the appendix at age 15. You?

Hey Bob, I'm from Rockford :rotfl2:I wised up and moved to Texas years ago.

I have had lasik surgery fast and painless.

Nebo I hope you the best recovery with your eye, I will start the collection for your braille keyboard if need.:rotfl2: Love your TR's and real life stories, your so human.:wizard: Really.

Your follower:worship:;)

Thank you Echo but I'm way ahead of you. I just bought a a gross of brand new pencils and I've been practicing my sales technique on Smidgy. One thing I'm worried about though, people won't expect me to sharpen them first, will they? You can put your eye out with those things!

I went to a school where we were the Argonauts, as in Jason and the..... The Chamber Nautilus is on everything.....so No Go Gators, NO GO Seminoles, GO SNAILS......

I am a little freaked out about your eyes...and the injections. AND I will be your and Smidgy's prayer warrior to help with that sight.

Then my husband lost his job:confused:.....but we are still going to Disney in March. Got to keep those priorities, and besides.....we promised the kids.
Chmbnaut

I love the name Argonauts for a school team name, loved the movie, too, Ray Harryhausen was way ahead of his time with special effects back then. Thank you for your prayers, and very sorry to hear about your hubby's job, let him wait till after the trip to go gung ho on finding a new one, only two months away, anyway.

Nebo! I actually remembered to look you up. After we were told about your infamous trip reports though, how could I forget. I am half of the Louisiana couple you met one night waiting for the bus from POP to Epcot. It was great talking to y'all and sucks to hear about your eye sticking.

And I know it's probably been bugging you guys for over a month now, we did get fast passes from guest services at Epcot that night. :) The park was so cold and empty that we didn't even need to use one of them. We tried to talk the guy at Mission: SPACE into letting us wear spacesuits in exchange for our golden fastpass, but he wasn't having it. :( Wonder if that will transer to our next trip which we already have booked for September!

Allright, how many of you out there are waiting to see what kind of trouble I am going to get into when handed a screen name like that? Well, I'm going to let you down and take the high road:
Hello Purple Nurple, (snort) yes, of course I remember you, welcome aboard! I had a couple of questions for you but I'm not sure if you can answer them seeing how confused you are even on which state you live in. I know Mississippi and Lousiana are close to each other, but, C'mon!

Really glad you found us though, it isn't all grim eye stories here, sometimes we talk gall bladders too.

Monica, I hope you don't have Macular Degeneration, you're way too young for that. I'm also surprised a specialist would make a dire statement like in ten years you won't be able to read, the technology is changing all the time, they just implanted a very small telescope in the eye of a blind woman who can now see well enough to drive. I might search for a different specialist before your next scheduled exam.

Too late. I already read it. :cool1:

Well well, so this is the famed Mystery Daughter of Marie's I've heard about for 4 years now!
Glad you came out of hiding, feel free to visit anytime.

Sorry to hear about your terrible eye experience. The older I get, the queezier I am. Peeing is very important, I almost did it myself when they injected my eye.

I had lasik done 5 years ago and would say it was the BEST thing I ever did for myself. I was scared as H3ll and thought I was insane since it was totally voluntary. I almost talked myself out of it. Tj, as far as how we kept warm, the answer is simple:
we didn't.

On the fuzzy cups: I believe they are made by Dixie, the ones I have bought came in packages of 14, with lids.
The outside of the package will have, "Grab 'n Go" written somewhere on it. They also are not fuzzy feeling anymore to the touch but have a rectangular design on them instead now. And they are also good for hot drinks as well as cold drinks, but blow away Sunny D bottles as for keeping things cold, if you are just sipping, a drink with ice can last a couple of hours and stay cold.
We have walked onto all the busses holding them, and into all the parks with no problem.
They only thing you can't do is take them on, or into, many attractions, that's where the Sunny D's come in.
For example, we had to down our fuzzy cups first to go into the theater to see Oh Canada.
You should be able to purchase them for under 3 bucks a package, and there you have it.

Fuzzy Cups, brought to you by, Nebo.

Back in a couple of hours, or less

Wednsday morning rolled around and I was up before light.
I really wanted a smoke, but I was also curious on what the temp was outside, this was going to be the first day of the Big Chill.
Threw on my shorts, grabbed my smokes and stepped outside.

Not bad, I thought, I'm guessing around 64 right now, I went and hid in the Rubik's Cube and smoked.

It was just starting to get a little bit light out, didn't see any life anywhere yet.

By the way, this is for smokers only:

At Pop, some staircases are more hidden than others should you feel the need and don't want to either get in trouble or offend anyone else.

You are safe on the 4th floor, nobody is going either up or down from the 4th floor using the stairs, pretty much applies to the 3rd also.
Now, the sixties yo yos totally hide the staircase, and the lone 90's building in enclosed in a walkman, also very private.

Next in hiding would be the Rubik's Cubes in the 80's.

But pretty useless is the Bowling Pin staircases in the 50's, you can see right through them, and at the bottom of the list is the 70's, the stairways are wide open, with a big 8-Track mounted on the ground way in front of it.

Ok, how many non-smokers did I just tick off saying all that?

I only go there in off hours when I'm not going to run into anybody.

Usually.

Feeling better about the weather I finished up and went back to bed for awhile, next thing I knew it was almost 9 o'clock.

I pulled open the curtain just a bit to be met with bright sunshine.
Allright! We'll get some pool time in today after all, tomorrow we finally start with the parks.

I threw my shorts back on, grabbed the mugs and was all ready to go and get tea and coffee and the newspaper when I glanced over at Diane to find her looking at me.

"Dorothy, you're waking up!"

She smiled at me, I turned and threw open the door and walked out into Siberia!

I was crestfallen.

Backed right up into the room again, sat on the bed and angrily started looking for pants and socks.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing, just that International Falls moved into our building in the last couple of hours."

It had to drop 15 degrees since I went and had my smoke.

THis began what I called the "Lost Day", mainly because neither of us can really recall too much of what we did the entire day.

After I came back with the paper and mugs I also wasn't feeling too great, felt hungover.

I lied on the bed thinking of what I drank last night.
Hmm,, started with a beer and a whiskey on the rocks in the room. Then had a whiskey and Sprite in the fuzzy cup in transit.
Then two little bottles of vodka in the cup when we bought more Sprite at Contempo Cafe, followed by a Lapu Lapu on the beach and then two more beers on the beach as well.

This sounds like a lot, but really, it was over 7 hours, yep, must have been all that Sprite.

No, actually it was the mix of all those things, I don't usually mix drinks like that and really, the sweeter the drinks, the worse the hangover, that's where the Sprite came in. Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

We then talked about alternative plans for today.
Using the mini golf voucher was brought up, I laughed, "Fuggetaboutit, step outside and tell me if you want to "enjoy" walking around a mini golf course in that."

She stepped outside and agreed, then she suggested a movie, even called to find out the prices in DD.
We had wanted to see Unstoppable but I think admission was 12 bucks a head, plus popcorn and pop, we're talking about over 40 bucks for the two of us, I nixed that too and pointed out we spent a lot more than we intended to at the Poly last night.

I honestly don't really know what we did all day, but it did seem to fly by doing nuttin.
At some point in the late afternoon I know we made drinks again and took a cold walk down "Memory Lane" along the lake, even took her picture, let's see if she has a drink in her hand. (I won't know until it's posted, too little in the Photobucket snapshot screen)

FrigidNovember014.jpg

All righty then, this is an obvious edit, after seeing the date this was a yesterday picture, things got our of order in Photobucket. Hey, I told you this was a lost day. But at least she doesn't have a drink in her hands!

Then we went back and made drinks in the refillable mugs, we were getting hungry and I thought this way we could drink them on the long walk there, maybe have a smoke, then we'll have the mugs for pop for dinner.

One thing I did want to do though, was see if we could do an early check in for tomorrow, we decided we want to go to Magic Kingdom for early entry if we don't have to change room, especially now with the weather so cold, don't want another day of lying around the room to stay warm. Yes, we know it will be just as cold there, but at least we can "knock" some stuff off, and many things are inside.
Besides, then we can have our pick of counter service restaurants on the dining plan and we won't have to eat at the food court again tomorrow.
Tomorrow our package officially starts, not we finally can get our park tickets and be on the free dining plan.

This was our original plan we decided to on the plane down, sounded like a great idea then before we knew about the Big Chill coming in. And now our room, which wasn't our first choice by no means, doesn't have the usefull "Pool" location it had going for it.

Actually, that part had been just killing me. Any other time of the year this would have been a great room for lots of pool time, but not with the sun this low in the sky, or the mercury this low in the thermometer.

On the way we stopped at the DSA by our pool, nope, no manic motor mouth this time. No anybody else for that matter, and I think all the lizards in the area were dead, not from the cold but from boredom listening to her. These lizards will NOT be going out and buying a Kindle, I guarantee it.

While standing there I laughed, "Poor Randy and Connie, (Goofyfan1 and Disney4ever) today is their check in day, I'd love to meet them and welcome them to "sunny Florida".

We were still in the vicinity so when we finished we went back and freshioned our drinks, then walked down to the food court.
There we peeked into the arcade for a bit, but I wan't in the mood for figuring out how the vouchers work there again, now it's all on a time card or something like that.
Whatever happened to the days when you had to stick in a quarter or a token to play a game?

After finishing our drinks in the smoking area out front we went in to talk to a castmember about getting our tickets.

Inside, right at the entrance to the registration area a lot of cast members were hanging around talking.
It looked like a Holiday cocktail party only without the cocktails.

Well, except for us.

I went straight to the guy who looked the most "management" type, he even had a shirt and tie on and explained we'd like to get our package tonight that starts tomorrow so we can make EE rope drop.

He understood totally, but apologetically said it's impossible to do, the computers don't think that way.
I asked him the earliest I could re-check in and get our passes and he told me not till 7am, that's when the computers come on line.

Ok, so tomorrow we get here at 7, pick up our passes and head to the bus stop for Early Entry, that should work.

Then all these milling around cast members formed a line, one of them turned on a stereo and they started dancing to "Do the Hustle."

Of course, now I don't have the camera with me, we were just going to eat for crying out loud.

I admit I have done some silly things in Disney, most notably the almost fatal adventure voluneering for the Indy Stunt Show, but they could not pay me enough to look as stupid as these CM's did.

But it really bothered Diane.

Apparently, whilst they were, in fact, dancing to "Do the Hustle", the dance that they were ACTUALLY doing was the "Bus Stop."

Oh the Humanity!

I was terrified she was going to walk up there, start waving her arms and pull the plug on the stereo and show them how it's supposed to be done.
That would have been grounds right there.

But she was good.
She did go up afterward and mention it to the acting DJ guy who admitted he knew that, but what the heck?

We then went in and ate at the food court.

I went back to the safe hot dog with fries again, and Smidgy ordered food again I think.
I don't remember what she ordered.

Then we went back and watched the weather channel.
Again.

Local on the 8's came on the screen:

Thursday: High 55, Low 37, for all you at DisneyWorld just slit your wrists now.

After stepping our of the room early the next morning I wished I had taken that advice.

Sounds like my week at WDW with TinkYellow, very cold! What happened to warm in December? We wore our winter coats quite a bit that week.

allright, how many of you out there are waiting to see what kind of trouble i am going to get into when handed a screen name like that? Well, i'm going to let you down and take the high road:
Hello purple nurple, (snort) yes, of course i remember you, welcome aboard! I had a couple of questions for you but i'm not sure if you can answer them seeing how confused you are even on which state you live in. I know mississippi and lousiana are close to each other, but, c'mon!
First, i'm gonna guess you are the female unit of the couple, correct? Second, i can't remember why you were going to get the golden fastpasses, and thirdly, was that on a friday night or tuesday that we met?
Really glad you found us though, it isn't all grim eye stories here, sometimes we talk gall bladders too.

(funny how spilling a little welchade down your front can inspire a screen name)
The story behind PurpleNurple is quite a long one, but I tell people I like it because it rhymes. :) My friends just call me Purple (a lot less snorting involved with that). I am actually in Mississippi and he is in Louisiana. I think you asked w0rm where he was from and he said Louisiana, and by the end of the vacation, it was just easier to leave it at that. :)

1. I am indeed the female half of the unit, AKA the short half.
2. We were getting the golden fastpasses because our reservation was wonky and they kind of accidentally voided our park entry cards for that day.
3. It was a Tuesday, the night before we left.
4. I've got a gall bladder story of my very own, thank you very much.

Hey Worm, great to see you, too. Hope you two can make up and at least live in the same state again soon. WL is great, you'll love it, even without the Christmas decorations, and it's so much better when it's HOT outside, nothing worse than a frozen guiser.

We used to live in the same state but she was banished to Mississippi until she has proven her worth again. :lmao:

I am laying in a supply of fuzzy cups, Sunny D, and little bottles before our next trip. Disney with three kids has never looked so good. :thumbsup2

Worm and Nurple, you live close to me. I am spitting distance to Ala but still in FL. :cool1: Just out of curiosity, did you get winter weather this week? My daughter's boyfriend had to explain to me what the frozen stuff was falling out of the sky. :confused3 THANK GOD, it did not last long.

I am hoping that it will be warm by the first of March....what is the old saying, beware the Ides of March? Could be rough. :worship:

Nebo, love, love, love your chapter. :surfweb: Good story, and I have passed people hiding in the yo yo before. Good observation.

Wednsday morning rolled around and I was up before light.
I really wanted a smoke...

... and needed a light, but was up before it. Got it. Go on.

... but I was also curious on what the temp was outside, this was going to be the first day of the Big Chill.

Kevin Costner cameo. Got it. Go... oh all right, I'll stop.

Ok, how many non-smokers did I just tick off saying all that?

:furious: Nahh.. just kidding.

I turned and threw open the door and walked out into Siberia!

Reminds me of a spring day while we were living up North... way North. (When walking around town you had to keep an eye out for polar bears... no, I'm not kidding). I came home from work one beautiful spring day with the temp around 64. I called out, "Honey, we're going for a walk... it's beautiful out!" We left the house 5 minutes later and the temp had dropped to 40. "I thought you said it was beautiful out... are you nuts?" I don't think the question was rhetorical either.

I was crestfallen.

Me too!

"Nothing, just that International Falls moved into our building in the last couple of hours."

Hey! I know where that is. We have lots of traffic that goes there to clear customs.

No, actually it was the mix of all those things, I don't usually mix drinks like that and really, the sweeter the drinks, the worse the hangover, that's where the Sprite came in. Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Okay, I'll play along. Definitely the Sprite.

All righty then, this is an obvious edit, after seeing the date this was a yesterday picture, things got our of order in Photobucket. Hey, I told you this was a lost day. But at least she doesn't have a drink in her hands!

Umm... not to quibble, but... you can't actually see Smidgy's hands. So maybe she is holding a drink. Hmmm????

On the way we stopped at the DSA by our pool, nope, no manic motor mouth this time. No anybody else for that matter, and I think all the lizards in the area were dead, not from the cold but from boredom listening to her. These lizards will NOT be going out and buying a Kindle, I guarantee it.

Saw one just the other day. He had an ipad, so I guess you're right.

Whatever happened to the days when you had to stick in a quarter or a token to play a game?

So it's not just me? Part of the fun was having to feed the quarters in. It seemed to give the games value, or something. How many times did you say or hear the familiar refrain, "This is my last quarter."

Why do I get the feeling that in your next update you're going to have trouble with your 7am passes? Staying tuned!

ps. how's the eye?

Apparently, whilst they were, in fact, dancing to "Do the Hustle", the dance that they were ACTUALLY doing was the "Bus Stop."

How dare they!!!:rotfl:

Can't wait to hear more about your chilly adventures! I assume that no toes were lost to frostbite in the making of this TR??

Happy New Year Nebo and Smidgy! I'm way behind. Been busy and really haven't had a chance to catch up on your report. I think I still need to finish reading about your last trip. I know you're already on your recent trip report. Off to catch up again.:surfweb:
