From Oil Wells to Jingle Bells-Bells,pg.66, See you in September!

To snap out of it I have to tell myself, "Maybe we will go on the December trip!"

:thumbsup2

Oh no, now I've got the graphics of an Atari 2600!

WEll, it cols ave been worse. It could hve been Calicovision:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Suddenly, from out of nowhere, right smack dab in front of us are two headlights not turned on and a big grill, coming right at us.

Smidgy gasped, I almost yanked the wheel to the right to avoid the full head on collision, but stopped.

This big SUV was too high.

Remarkably, I had caught up to a car carrier semi, the one in the back was loaded in backwards, facing us.

Diane's fingerprints are still in the dashboard.

:scared1:

One word spoken softly in her ear.

"December"

Soooo. Is thi trip stl on? Are w gong to gt anoher reportpopcorn::

Thanks so much fo sharing with us again. You guys are the best:hug:

What a great TR! I am so glad you are able to go in December. Thank you for sharing your trip with all your loyal readers!

The photos at the end of your last post are a nice touch! Beautiful! Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Driving in a downpour is scary! Rain-X helps but I don't always remember to reapply it when needed.

Looking forward to the December report! You have to do one. We all know where you live now.:lmao:

nebo calls me the "town Crier".. the "weather heralder"... cause I tend to panic at bad weather. 2 inches of snow!! can't do it! OMG!
(son#2 has somewhat joined me.. even though he drives in whatever weather.. if there are tornado watches anywhere in northern Illinois , we get a warning call from Jeremy. aw. he still thinks of us:grouphug:)

anyhoo, a few trips back we were leaving on a wed. I moved my wed house cleaning customer to tuesday. santa fe was packed. all day tues I kept calling him at home. "turn on the weather channel! ice storm ! in Ky, Tenn,. no way around it!!" nebo "scoff scoff" (we were leaving one day early, anyway)

about 5 calls (and twice as many arguments) later, he agreed to postpone the trip one day. it was depressing wed. morning. nebo "we should be leaving!! it's beautiful and sunny out!!"
the next day, as we drove through the carnage that used to be KY, and saw the ice laden trees, downed power lines, disabled vehicles along the road, skid marks going off the highway.. he agreed I had been right.
ok. fast forward to this last trip.. when I told him the weather channel said bad weather in N. GA... did he listen to me? .....NO! when I said.. "um, this is the start of the pouring rains I predicted, let's get off the next exit and find a motel.... did he listen to me??? .. no!

'nuff said! nebo.. to me::worship:

actually, he did a wonderful job driving through that. I couldnt have done it, that's for sure.

thinking back on this trip, there WERE a lot of things we didn't do that we usually do.. however, we did a LOT more than we expected to.

this was a trip that wasn't suposed to happen in the first place. and it was never supposed to be a "typical" Disney trip. It was just something to do since the restaurant was closed for the month anyway.

It was supposed to be just 5 days at the beach, motel 6 in Kissimee for 2 nights, (since DVC points are higher on the weekend) and then 5 days at beach club, concentrating on pool time.. since we know the parks will be crowded.

it turned out to be a great trip!!! different than most, but a lot of fun... the only bad thing.. I fell in LOVE with Beach club Villas. again.. set that bar too high.

Hmmm. you know what? we seem to say that a lot. and everytime that bar gets set too high, we somehow seem to surpass it... how is that possible?

I guess it's because, just when you think nothing could get better, there always seems to be something better down the road:banana:.

Maybe it's Disney, maybe it's who you're with:hug:, but there's always something to look forward to. even if you don't know exacty what it is at the time, you know it's going to be there eventually.:cloud9:

Great post but it can't stop now. We need day to day life updates until the December trip.

Glad you made it home safe and sound, Nebo. I once drove through a similar rain storm...

We were heading home late one night after admiring the natural beauty of Wisconsin's waterslides. I pulled off the highway for some caffeine and the lady at the drive thru window told me a tornado had been sighted about 5 miles up the road.:scared1: We were in two cars so I pulled up at a hotel to confer with my other travellers. I wanted to stay the night at the hotel, but was outvoted, so when the tornado warning expired we left with me still driving. It rained buckets! Not regular buckets, but the gigantic buckets next to the Wisconsin waterslides that spill over every ten minutes and knock down all the little kids. I also found a semi to follow, but couldn't keep up with it. And, I had a panic moment when the lights and the rain and darkness played a trick on me and I thought it jack-knifed up ahead. We eventually made it to an oasis and sat in the car under the gas station covering until the rain let up. 45 minutes later I told my husband he had to drive the rest of the way home no matter how tired he was because my hands were still shaking!

And, hey, did I miss something along the way? Wasn't there supposed to be dining review of a Ding-Dong stored in an car in the hot Florida sun?

Yay!!!! Maybe we will see you and Smidgy in December. We leave in 11 days and cannot wait to escape this Chicago weather!!!! There is a picture of all of us on my pre-trip report - we will be hanging around the volcano pool a lot this trip!!!!

I have to tell you what a wonderful writer you are. Thanks for all the laughs and I can't wait to read about your December trip.

:santa: december! december! smidgy and nemo love ya december, your only 2 weeks (or so ) awayyyyyy. glad you made it home you two and i am like smidgy with the weather. out here in cali we only get "weather" every so often. heck an errand sprinkler on the side of the freeway causes us to freak out. and if it is raining hard foer some reason folks drive faster. we just don't "do" weather out here. can't wait for the december tr. dont forget pic of the osborne lights.:santa:

Here I am finally all caught up and it's the end of the TR. I love reading your TRs just wish I would find them before they are almost over. Hope you'll do one for December!!:yay:

Cheryl:)

Ok, let's start here;

1. 3. Nooooo! I don't want it to end, this has been a fun ride! At least promise you will get hurt a few times and draw a bit of blood on your trip so you can write a December TR! :rotfl: :rolleyes1 ;)

Ok, all together now: "Can, you feel, the love tonight?"

Nebo, you can make your December trip as exciting as you want, leave the vikes at home and watch the fun.:lmao: As many of us have asked, you could write about a trip to the grocery store and we would read it. Oh, wait, you have written about a trip to the store. :rotfl2:

Yes, I vaguely remember doing the shopping trip report to the grocery store, muchly manhattans that night when I wrote it. I might have to go and find it for the heck of it but not exactly sure where it is.

Thanks so much for the welcome and sorry about the wrong choice of words “followers” does sound like some sort of cult so allow my rephrase ALL “Contributors” are great..ok so that was you’re rephrase but I’ve learned to accept a better word when offered.

I did sound a little "high horse" ish on that issue didnn't I? I just like the C word better, nobody wants to be known as a follower.
hmm, that probably didn't come out right either.

Now that I think about it I probably should have not just popped in on your thread like I was one of the family but seriously after reading it all and sharing every emotion possible I just kind of felt like I knew every body but then it sort of hit me that someone might just be interested in who I am.

I have shared just about every emotion you can possibly have in this report and I feel it helps others get to know us better. Emotions, whether good or bad, right or wrong help create bonding and there are folks I, we, have met on the trip reports I will call friends until my dying day. This is how we ALL get to know one another.

We forced them to ride Splash Mt. and afterwards they just stared at me for hours with a stare that I’ve only seen one other time and that was from my two male cats that I’d brought home from the vet after alterations. Sort of “I don’t know what just happened but I’m not forgiving you.”

I know that look! I saw it in the mirror one day after Diane brought me home from the hospital one day after a "visit".:rotfl2:

Actually, cats are great. They have the same look on their face whether they are looking at Freddy Krueger or a moth.

I beat her for the entire ride while she withdrew bone marrow from my leg
That's very good! I like it.

Who knows maybe I’ll be inspired to write a pre-trip/trip report. Until then thanks everyone for allowing me to live vicariously through yours…cause this countdown wait is killing me.

Go for it> helps the countdown and gives you Disney to talk about.

yeah we live about an hour south of dl. Indy is better than dinosaur but that is about it imho. once we went to wdw we were smitten with the place. we gave up the ap deciding to save for disneyworld instead. now we go when I can win tickets to the place. the rides out here are different a bit. but not too much. and with only two parks the crowds can get pretty bad. in the afternoon we just took our train ride in the lilly bell car (walts wife designed it and it is used when they have heads of state or celebs in the park) when it is not being used for that you can request a ride. it was great and we got some wonderful input from the conductor who rode with us.
the lines had gotten long and face it we had passes for 5 years before decided in08 not to renew so there wasn't much left to see that we hadn't seen many many times. so we went back to the room and did downtown disney until lance got hit and their kid went flying onto the ground( really not making it up the guy hit hubby so hard his kid went faceplant on the sidewalk. she was ok just scaped a bit) and we are going again on thursday thanks to a local radio station so the matterhorn and splash will be first on the list.
hope you guys do make the trip at least once just don't try to take any jam in ')

Even though we've never been there, the being in the city and the fact there is only two parks has always seemed like it would be a letdown to me. Plus sthere are no Value resorts to stay at. That's something with the stroller. Funny thing, I have been nailed way more times by a stroller than an ECV.

That was great! I loved the part where you almost crashed into the car carrier.

"Can, you feel, the love tonight?"

Well, I wasn't there, otherwise Diane would have had some competition for the hand impression on the dash. :scared1:

Her hand impressions were already competing with the ones she put in on the way down when we went through the Smokies in the rain and fog.

Can't wait for December!!

Me too!

Fantastic trip report! You will most definately have to do a report for your December trip, what will we all do without one?

Well, you could read a book by a "real" writer, or better yet, meet us down there.

Whoa! I was on the edge of my seat! I've driven in rain like that and it's no fun. Glad ya'll made it home safely and look forward to hearing about your December trip.

I'm sure we all have driven in that at some time, but this time it totally scared the crap out of me.

Thank you Nebo for sharing your trip with us. :goodvibes

This last post got me all misty eyed. :sad1:

Can't wait to hear about Dec. :upsidedow

Thank you Millie, but don't be sad, this has been fun but all things come to an end.

:WEll, it cols ave been worse. It could hve been Calicovision:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I HAD a Colecovision and just loved it. As a matter of fact, 4 years ago I bought one on Ebay. Even charted all the high scores, (mine) untill my son came back and lived with us for awhile. Then he ruthlessly attacked all my high scores until not one was left standing.
Then I unhooked the damn thing.

Soooo. Is thi trip stl on? Are w gong to gt anoher reportpopcorn::

the trip is still on, but as for a report, I can honestly say, with all sincerity, :confused3

Thanks so much fo sharing with us again. You guys are the best:hug:

Thank you, Janet for all your posts and contributions.

What a great TR! I am so glad you are able to go in December. Thank you for sharing your trip with all your loyal readers!

Hey, will I get to read aboout myself in your trip report after you catch us skinny dipping at midnight in the computer pool?

The photos at the end of your last post are a nice touch! Beautiful! Thanks for sharing your trip with us.QUOTE]

It wasn't until after I posted the photos that I saw the date on them when the pictures were blown up. Wow, can't believe they were from over 7 years ago.

Great post but it can't stop now. We need day to day life updates until the December trip.

Right. I have no life, how do you write about nothing unless you're Seinfeld?

Glad you made it home safe and sound, Nebo. I once drove through a similar rain storm...

. I also found a semi to follow, but couldn't keep up with it. And, I had a panic moment when the lights and the rain and darkness played a trick on me and I thought it jack-knifed up ahead.

That is so true! I was imagining seeing things a lot, when your eyes are wide open and you can't see, and you can't tell what you're looking at your mind makes crap up.

And, hey, did I miss something along the way? Wasn't there supposed to be dining review of a Ding-Dong stored in an car in the hot Florida sun?

AW, you cheated and went back to the title page. Ok, you got me, there was no Ding Dong, not even a Ho HO.

I remember after my brief first trippy, "If it's Tuesday this must be Epcot", Tiggerbell was one of the last posters before it was moved to completed section and she posted:
"Hey, you never did go to Epcot on a Tuesday!"

Yay!!!! Maybe we will see you and Smidgy in December. We leave in 11 days and cannot wait to escape this Chicago weather!!!! There is a picture of all of us on my pre-trip report - we will be hanging around the volcano pool a lot this trip!!!!

We will be at the Poly on Tuesday, the 30th to watch the water pageant and the Holiday Wishes. Don't forget, there is a hot spot in the Volcano pool, not everybody knows that but when you find it, don't blame me.

Thanks for all the laughs and I can't wait to read about your December trip.

You are very welcome. Thanks for coming out of lurkdom to post that.

:i am like smidgy with the weather. out here in cali we only get "weather" every so often. heck an errand sprinkler on the side of the freeway causes us to freak out. and if it is raining hard foer some reason folks drive faster. we just don't "do" weather out here. can't wait for the december tr. dont forget pic of the osborne lights.:santa:

I kinda doubt you are that much like Smidgy. She doesn't like driving when there is a heavy dew!

Here I am finally all caught up and it's the end of the TR. I love reading your TRs just wish I would find them before they are almost over. Hope you'll do one for December!!:yay:

Cheryl:)

Hi Cheryl, I remember you. Look at the bright side, at least you didn't have to wait all the time until I posted another chapter!

Hey, will I get to read aboout myself in your trip report after you catch us skinny dipping at midnight in the computer pool?

Absolutely!!! But I won't post pictures since the night air will be COLD that time of year! :lmao: We'll be able to track you by the blood from all the accidents in the park!

Thank you. Don't want to end up like George Costanza.

We'll be able to track you by the blood from all the accidents in the park!

Uh uh, not this time, not gonna get hurt at all. Honest, I swear it. Gonna hide in the Rubik's Cube the whole trip.

Oh my friend, you have left me in tears! :sad1:

Don't cry Nikki, There's a great big beautiful tomorrow....

Boy ob boy, I can't believe this report is finished already.

I remember when I started it I said I didn't want to drag it out and well, I guess I didn't.

Seems like I was just telling you about the lizards at Vero Beach bumping uglies but that was 3 months ago.

I have to admit to you all that this was a different type of report for me to do.
When I started it, I had planned on writing about the stay at Sports and the Brazilians in a completely serious vein.
No jokes for the whole two day stretch there including the time we spent at Magic Kingdom. I didn't want to take away the feelings of anger and dread that we suffered through because of them.
And then something happened.

I got to dread writing about it. I didn't even want my own memories to dwell on all the problems and I figured if I hate writing it, people will hate reading it also.

In other words, I tried to be serious at first, but I couldn't do it.
Like when the guy mumbled something at Diane and I thought we were about to get it on, my anger was barely under control, with a hint of fear of getting kicked out of Disney, maybe forever and realizing I had a good chance of not winning this fight and to be honest, I'm getting a little sick and tired of pain.

So what happens when I describe the scene to you?
Something like, "Now I know that soccer players are some of the best conditioned athletes in all sports. Me? I get winded making a double jump in checkers."

Since that's how i really wanted to tell it, I gave up on the serious and let the dumb jokes win. So serious writer I am not, not with lines like that popping into my head. I gotta be me.

But anyway, I really had a lot of fun then pretty much from start to finish writing this report. I thought we had a lot of laughs, lot of good times and I hope you all felt the same way.

And, of course as always, I couldn't do it without you.
I don't know how many times I was laughing out loud reading some of your posts.

Callouts were fun, I looked forward to doing them and again, that's where all of you came in, I really apreciated that since it made my job a whole lot easier. But there are a few that really stood out and helped me in the writing, those that kept me at it, and I'll go so far as to say they were even an inspiration to help me tell the story.
Like Turtle lady, Stroller Guy and Jock Itch Guy.

AHHAHAHAHAH, got you again!

No really, many thanks to all of you.

Now it's my turn. I have some questions for you, I'd like some feedback.

As you probably noticed, I did very little rides and attractions descriptions, focused mainly on Smidgy and myself.
Do you wish I went more into them?
Less about me? I know I come off as being very egocentric in the reading.

Are pictures important? Would you prefer more photos or do they take away from the story?
Should I have dragged this out longer, even if nothing major or funny happened?

This info would help if I continue into a December report.
I'm aware that my reports are not the norm on the trippy forum and not for everyone, too much drinking, sneaking in drinks, OMG he's addicted to painkillers!
Let's face it, most, or at least many, young moms planning there trips and getting excited about it want to know where the best changing tables are, or how do moms and dads deal with their 4 year old pirate when he has a meltdown on a Friendship boat.

My answer would be to throw him overboard so I'm probably not the right guy to dispense advice on those issues.

One thing I do know, I'm definately taking more pictures this trip either way, and about the only time I can get any use out of them is to do a report, so we'll see what happens.

Ok, in summary, thanks again for being such great readers and contributors, even if you've never posted here before and are comfortable in lurkdom I'd like to hear your feelings.

And if we all learned anything from this report, it is;

"Don't go in July!"

As you probably noticed, I did very little rides and attractions descriptions, focused mainly on Smidgy and myself.
Do you wish I went more into them?I don't need to hear about the rides, unless something unusual happens on one!
Less about me? No, hearing about you and Smidgy is what makes your trip reports unique and frankly, hilarious! I know I come off as being very egocentric in the reading. Not at all

Are pictures important? Would you prefer more photos or do they take away from the story? Yes, more pictures!
Should I have dragged this out longer, even if nothing major or funny happened? Perfect length, now start your pre-trip report :)
One thing I do know, I'm definately taking more pictures this trip either way, and about the only time I can get any use out of them is to do a report, so we'll see what happens. Yes, more pictures and a new trip report :thumbsup2

And if we all learned anything from this report, it is;

"Don't go in July!" Duh, I could have saved you the trouble and told you this before you left :rolleyes1

Looking forward to your December trip report :upsidedow

Frankly i found your trip report perfect. Hearing about you and Smidgy's adventures in the world were quite entertaining. I don't think you should change a thing. However, since you are going again in December (hopefully we'll run into you though not LITERALLY), if you do a trip report for that one, you should probably include pictures (since it will be Christmas). Have to have a picture of you taking in Ozzy's lights for sure!! LOL

Seriously looking forward to the further adventures of Smidgy and Nebo.. especially the tales of Nebo in the "Aluminum tube of death" (I quoted you correctly didn't I?)..

The family here is counting the days til our trip (we're almost at single digits). My DD8 made a paper chain at T-17 days and removes a link every night before she goes to bed (no she's not excited at all LOL).

Oh nebo, I love your reports just the way they are. Although more pictures would be appreciated. You have such a talent for making these reports come alive. I feel like I'm there with you and smidgy.

Can't wait for the December report. It's my favorite time to be there.

Nebo,

I know you write better when horrible, awful injuries befall you - or you fall and cause the injuries, but I couldn't wish you guys anything but a wonderful trip. However, in the interest of a trip report...do what you have to do! :rolleyes1

Now to answer your questions...I love the format of your reports. I love to hear about you and Smidgy and your take on things. I think many of your readers have been on the rides and don't necessarily need a description of them, unless you noticed something new or interesting. As for pictures, I'm a picture person...love, love, love 'em. I have only stayed at 3 of the resorts, so I love to explore through trip report pictures. And definitely drag it out as much as you want to - I miss you two when I don't have one of your reports to read. (It's a little crazy, isn't it, missing people you don't REALLY know? I swear I'm not an odd person in real life - well not so you would notice anyway! ;)).

Hope you and Smidgy and your family have an wonderful Thanksgiving and you guys have a great trip! Hope you do okay on the flight - make sure to have a bit of liquid courage ahead of time and hold Smidgy's hand tight - although she may want to sit at the other end of the plane! I'll be here when you get back.
