Be sure to visit Carthusia for some of the best perfume in the world! I'm stocking up in July![]()
We plan to take the hydrofoil from Naples then back to Sorrento. From what I have read, it's like PP said, you can walk from the ship to the hydrofoil.
Can't wait...I am the most excited about going back to Capri.
How are you planning on going from Sorrento to the ship? Taxi or boat?

Actually, the ABD takes you to Sorrento and you go to Capri from there. You go *back* from Capri to Naples & the ship. (Of course, that's assuming it's the same as last year!)We are also on the 11 night med. Our ABD trip takes us to Naples, then we take a boat over to Capri. Not sure if that helps or not!
Your ship should dock in the same area as the hydrofoil docks--fairly short walk, just ask for directions.
Be sure to buy a round trip ticket so you don't have to stand in line again on Capri and give yourself a bit of a time cushion on return. It is about a 45 minute crossing.
Capri is a gorgeous island. From the dock, you take a funicular up to the main village of Capri with lovely winding streets, cafes and (expensive) shops. You can visit the Gardens of Augustus in Capri Town for a stroll and the views of the Faraglioni. From there, you can grab an open air taxi for the short trip to Anacapri which is a smaller and less touristy village. In Anacapri, be sure to see the Villa San Michelle built by Dr Axel Munthe (read his fascinating book, "The Story of San Michelle"). And take the chairlift up to Mont Salero for the incredible views.
But my favorite thing to do on Capri is hire a boat (with driver/guide) on the dock at the base of the funicular. You can circumnavigate the island and stop to swim off the boat in crystal clear water; you can sun on the front of the boat and poke in the amazing colorful grottoes. Seeing the island from the water gives you a whole new perspective. It is well worth the cost and will be one of the most memorable times of your cruise.
Enjoy the Med!
Did you do this all in one day? Impressive!
If you only did 1 thing in Capri (or only spent 4 hours there), what would be your ideal itinerary?
Also, in Capri get a gelato from Buonocore gelateria in the town. Caprilu is a lemon cream flavor that is amazing!
Any restaurant recommendations on Capri?
One of the best things we did that day was take the chair lift from Anacapri to Mount Solara - it was a fun ride and had wonderful views. If you have older children, they would love it.
Enjoy your time in Capri, it is beautiful.
