From MCO to the Car Care Center?

I'm looking for ideas on how to get to the Car Care Center from MCO. In a nutshell, we just jumped on some very low-priced airline tickets to Orlando for the coming spring break. We aren't even sure if we will be doing Disney, or visiting somewhere else, but Alamo's rates at the Car Care Center were hundreds lower than renting at MCO. We realize that one option is to book one night on property on our arrival day and one on our departure day and just use Magical Express, then take a van to the CCC. But...if we decide to stay off property, how can we get from MCO to the CCC?

Go to the Mears desk at MCO and take a shuttle to a Disney resort and have the Alamo shuttle pick you up at that hotel. Keep in mind the Alamo shuttle won't take luggage so one person would have to take the shuttle and leave the other one at the resort with the luggage.

Mears should be $20- $25 a person.

Or the easiest would be book a WDW value for one night.


Also keep in mind if you booked your flights on Frontier. they do not always run on time and the CCC has limited hours. Frontier has been known to be several hours late to as late as a few days. Had a friend stuck for 2 1/2 days because his Frontier plane was stuck in another city. My sister just came home on Frontier last week and for no known reason her flight was 5 hours late. Come to find out the pilots could not fly the plane because they had flown their maximum allotted hours for the day. So she had to wait for the next flight in order to get home. She got the last seat available on the next flight. Lady next her at the counter was told the next available seat on a flight would be 3 days later !

Thanks for the idea. We were thinking about doing that, but we also want to stay together. Would they let us check our bags if we wind up not staying at whatever resort we take the shuttle to? We both want to eyeball the car choices before making the selection. And could we get back in, then? Or could we just bring our luggage on the shuttle to the CCC?

And I guess its a good thing we aren't flying on Frontier! That would totally mess up our schedule! We found some awesome rates flying Southwest out of Akron. Hopkins was still sky high!

No you have to be a resort guest in order to check the luggage with bell services.


Your other option would be to rent a Alamo car at the Dolphin and have the Mears shuttle take you to the Dolphin hotel. Or check with Mears and see if they will drop you at the CCC.

I would just book another Alamo car at MCO and one-way it to the Car Care Center. One day rental for a mid-SUV (like a Toyota RAV4) is $55/day and would probably total $75 with taxes and fees. You could even start the CCC rental the following day if there's any savings.

The Mears shuttle would probably be the least expensive option. I'd look on their website or contact them to see if they could take you directly to the CCC. If that's not possible and your whole group + luggage want to pick up the car you could take a taxi or car service from MCO to the CCC.

Another thing to keep in mind is that rentals out of MCO should get better starting about 2 weeks before you leave. They often, but not always, wind up cheaper then CCC rentals. I know MCO rentals during March are really wacky right now, but I expect that should change as the date gets closer. No harm covering your bases, but with anything you set up, try to make your plans non-binding in case the MCO rentals come way down.
