From May in the Med to August in Panama (Eastbound PC Lite)

I'll add a couple things for discussion!

Taxes going up for PC cruise -- $100 per person

All back to back cruisers now have to get off the ship in Canaveral :sad2: We only have to get off from 9am to 10:30 am, but still :headache:

Hi, I just noticed this thread and it is easier to keep up with- I read all 6 pages lickity split! :)

I'll still be posting on the other thread but wanted to say howdy to everyone on this thread.

I also wanted to say I hope everyone that doesn't have a room on this cruise yet- does get one. Sending pixie dust your way!

Interesting that they now make you get off on back to back cruises. We originally planned back to back 7 day cruises for next summer- until we found out they were changing the itinerary to the west for that summer. Part of the "great thing" about the back to back was staying onboard. What a pain to have to get off and back on. :(

Welcome BIP! I recognize you from the other thread. I've tried so hard to keep up but work and life seem to get in the way.

We need to get off for 1 1/2 hours. We can get back on the ship before anyone else can, but still! I was looking forward to staying on the ship. Oh well!

Is it true that the extra $100 tax is no longer going to be charged to us by DCL?

I spend very little time on the cruise forum as most of my DIS time is spent on the WISH board, but one of my friends mentioned it.

Is anyone going out early before the cruise? Hard to believe it will be just a year away on Friday.

Nancy

Hi Nancy,

Yes, it is true! Isn't that great news!

We are tentatively planning to go out before the cruise, but we'll have to see since we'll be gone so long. Probably will stay at one of the DL resorts if I can find a good TA rate. Otherwise we may try the Candy Cane Inn. Almost stayed there once before, but switched to Hojos at the last minute.

Tracy

HI Nancy & BIP,

Welcome aboard. We'll be staying at the Candy Cane Inn before the cruise. We'll probably go out on Friday night to have all day Saturday at Disneyland. We have stayed at the CCI and HoJo's. We love the free shuttle at the CCI and the free breakfast. The CCI room was smaller, but nicer than the one we had at HoJo's. We had a park view room at HoJo's and were able to watch the fireworks from our balconey. We love the location of HoJo's to Mimi's for breakfast. Can't go wrong with either.

Hey Renegade, How's San Fran? Any word on getting on this trip?

Ellen

Well that's a bummer. Sorry. but if you're talking about going on the repo with a cruise before or after it- I'm not feeling sympathy for you. *green with envy* LOL

Yes it is true.

We're going out atleast a few days early -to spend some days at DL as this is the first time for the kids (and basically first time for me too-long story on that) and we probably won't go back again. We're staying at HOJO

I can't believe no one has posted this.

ONLY 1 YEAR UNTIL WE ARE ON THE MAGIC

We are planning to go out the Thursday before the cruise. Not sure where we are staying. I am looking at some of the hotels directly across from DL. Also might use DVC points. I have an Oct, Nov and Jan trips to WDW to finalize before thinking about this cruise.

Nancy

Hi Guys....just back from WDW!

Not sure what we will do before the cruise. Since hubby is in a single private practice, he can't afford to take off any longer than the 2 weeks we will be sailing. We'll probably fly out Saturday and stay somewhere near the port. Anaheim is not that close and since we have been to both DL and CA before, I'm not sure it would be worth the hassle and expense to go there for just one day.

HI Nancy & BIP,

Hey Renegade, How's San Fran? Any word on getting on this trip?

SF is very good. I have been working my butt off at work, but just paid off as I got a nice raise the other day retroactive to the 1st of August.

I am possibly going to be one of those people causing drama in the housing market, I have an ajustable mortgage and it becomes adjustable in 4/08. So working on plans as to what to do - find a roommate who will pay the rent I need to make ends meet, rent the place out totally, try to sell. There is always something.

No luck yet getting on the cruise. Worst case I will head down to DL and hang with everyone and see you all off.

WDW was great, Nancy.....we had such a nice time with our 2 boys. I think the most fun we had was at Disney Quest. John and I had never done it before but they insisted we try it and had a blast. Rumor says that it is closing the end of this year which doesn't make sense. The day we were there it was packed. I think I read somewhere you switched from POFQ to CSR for the October ressie.....any reason why?

The last time we went to DL it was for a conference and all the DL hotels were full. We stayed at the Park Place Best Western which is directly across the street from the park entrance. (There is a light to cross.) I was originally bummed that we weren't in a Disney hotel, but it turned out fine. The hotel was nothing special, but it was clean and cheap. They even gave us tickets for a complimentary breakfast buffet at a restaurant next door. The breakfast was very limited - I think you could either choose between the continental buffet or a hot pancake platter, but it was more than enough for us. We saved a ton of money and the location was fabulous. Basically you walk across the street and there is the ticket center. DL is to the right, CA is to the left and straight ahead is their version of Downtown Disney, which continues on to the Grand Californian and DL hotel. The other hotel (Pan-Pacific?) is across the main parking lot. It's something to consider if you want to save your money for other things.

An AP rate came out and I wasn't able to use it at POFQ so moved to CSR and got a $50 dining card.

So glad you enjoyed your time at WDW. The only time I was in Disney Quest was I went in to retrieve my 2 sons who were teenagers who did not come out at the appointed time to get to dinner. The CM wasn't thrilled about letting me in but I had been waiting for 45 minutes and another lady was waiting for her 2 sons. I left Norm as a hostage with the CM and went in to get the other ladies sons and mine. She described her sons and I found them first. Nothing like having a strange lady come out and tell you your Mom is waiting for you at the exit and you had better go there now. Now with cell phones you wouldn't have that problem.

Thanks for the tips about hotels. I have looked at the Park Place and Carousel both are near each other.

Nancy

HI Johanna,

Good luck with the condo. Congrats on the raise. We're still keeping our fingers crossed for you.

Nancy, Got a kick out of your story. Reminds me of when DH & Ds were almost an hour late meeting us in Busch Gardens. Cell phones didn't work that well a couple of years ago. GSM (I think that's what it's called) has made cell coverage so much better.

Anybody worried about hurricanes next year during our trip?

Ellen

I hadn't thought about hurricanes. I guess with cruising in Aug that is the chance you take. I imagine it would be more of a problem on the east coast than the west, since you don't hear much about hurricanes on the west coast.

Suggestion....

find out how much the current mortgage can rise in a years time, there is sometimes a cap. like 2% or so.

It maybe in your best intrest, to refi into another ARM that is fixed for a period of time, Sooner than later.
Not knowing your rate, of course it is hard to say.

Todays rates ;)

Peter: great to hear from you again.....you've been quiet lately.....are you working in construction again?

I'm working on John to get me his schedule for the Boston trip. We have an organized event Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, but I think we can be free Saturday afternoon. I'll be free all the days so if Jenn has a day off we can play.

HI Peter! Glad to hear from you.

I hadn't given hurricanes a thought until the guy on the Weather Channel said that if Dean makes it to the Pacific as a hurricane it will be renamed. I guess that I'll worry about that next year.

We had Hillary on the last PC cruise. How interesting waking to strong gale force winds and 30 foot waves :scared1: Captain Tom kept us safe and will again!

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to let you know Tracy's mom passed away this afternoon, at home with family and friends around her.

Hello everyone.. Jenn here!
I talked to Tracy a little bit ago, she is doing as well as one could expect. It will be a rough couple days thats for sure. Services for her Mom are going to be a visitation on Sunday night and a service on Monday. The funeral home is Feldner-Ritchay in Nekoosa, WI. In lieu of flowers they are requesting any donations go to the UW Cancer Center in Wisconsin Rapids. If anyone needs her address to send a card, PM me. Hope everyone has a great night...
