I was at the Getaways Day event for DVC members last night. They didn't get much in depth about DLR, but here are some things:

A writer from the DVC member magazine Disney Files was there, and spoke a bit about the DCA rehab, and had a few videos. He confirmed the return of the Flying Saucers, and spoke a bit about Cars Land... Sounds like it will be amazing, 'cause it will be almost totally immersive: Berm philosophy, with what sounds like great rocky landscaping. That was a little more in depth about the project than I'd heard before, but otherwise it was stuff we pretty much knew I felt: The entry will be made to look like the LA/Hollywood area from when Walt arrived to the region, the LM ride will be there. There will be a preview center, whcih was previously going to be in the SF theatre area, but now apparently will be in the vineyard theatre.

Thanks for the info!!

Was there any talk of a GCV timeline for sales and completion? Thanks

Nothing we didn't already know really about GCV.

If the models are where the SSR models were, then no, no models. I will confirm tomorrow... Err, in a few hours today. ;)

I was wondering if they were going to have models up. I am not sure if I will buy there but I would like to see them

thanks for posting...

where are the existing SSR models set up?popcorn::

At DLH, behind what was I think Bointa tower and is now...Wonder I think (I don't know if I'll ever truly remember the names of the buildings, at least which is which).

It's the building opposite check-in. Go through the building and you'll see the models, with a spire like at SSR. Next door are the DL Resort offices and the DVC offices.

Some posts in the DVC areas of Disboards say today's supposed to be the unveiling of the models... I hope so!

This is what I posted in DVC Planning forum, after seeing my guide and getting to see the models for GCV... btw, they didn't allow photographs of the models, so hence no pictures.

Don't expect to see the models in the immediate future. They were allowing DVC members to see just during Getaway Days.

What I saw was nice: Tiffany lamps, brighter design than AKV I felt. The 1br had some nice features: The kitchen had an island counter, so more room to walk around. The person who showed me the model pointed out the table was longer... Never stayed in a 1/2 br so I couldn't say.

Under the entertainment unit in the living room of the 1/2br is a convenient fold-away murphy bed. Easy to pull down. On the other side of the room the couch was still a pull-out couch too. However, it looked like it may get crowded with the two beds.

The guide was also impressed with the ottoman for the sofa having a storage in it, hidden under the hinged top cushion. The master bathroom looked incredible, with the usual hottub and a nice large shower with a bench inside.

No new information about the selling of units though: No listed date, price of points or points charts. My guide said they have no idea how much more it would be, just that the days of $100/pt were definitely gone (at least with this venture). He/she wouldn't even cap it at double the price of up to $200 when pressed... But he/she wouldn't set a minimun either.

I hadn't known I was already on the Founding Member list for having bought out there, so that was a nice thing to learn. No word yet on the minimum (he/she said 50 or 100), and until the public sale, Founders and then "regular" DVC members would only be able to buy up to 160 points. After that, you can buy as many as you want.

told DH & he reminded me that @ the BW area model, we were told that members aren't supposed to tour the unit during regular hours for prospects...so we never did get to see it as our schedule didn't permit visiting during the limited time period.

I assumming that everybody (including existing DVC members) are welcome during open tour hours @ DL DVC?

Welcome where? TO the DVC offices? Yes, I think so.

If you are talking about the models, they are now closed again. The guide who showed me around said the hope was to re-open them next month, but someone in the DVC-Planning forum posted a story saying they will be closed until August... Which may be when sales open on the GCV.
