Well.... we had our hearts set on the Dolphin but one of the 10 days we will be there they have no rooms available due to a Conference. We asked to stay 5 nights at the Swan then Transfer to the Dolphin, the CSR told me they would prefer to have me stay at the Swan where they have the full 10 days available. I also requested a lake view with the Nurses Discount, she quoted me a price and then multiple times she asked me why I didn't want a standard view for 30 less. I assume she was thinking we would just be upgraded anyways so why not pay less but still I have never been down sold anything and I didn't know how to react (should I have been offended, well I'm not but still). So we have reservations for the Swan, and I have some questions....

First, does anyone have any room recomendations for the Swan. It is our anniversary and I would like to have a nice view at wherever we are staying. I would really like a corner room that would look in the direction of epcot or even the lake (this is why I wanted to stay at the Dolphin, but maybe the swan will have a good view also).

Second, is there anyway around this "NO ROOMS DUE TO A CONVENTION" thing... I mean 1 night out of 10, I would think they could make an acception for 1 night, if it was more I could understand.

...and last but of course not least, when we book the room they told me about the $8 room charge for newspaper, phone, etc. and her closing remark was "this is not optional" I told her I didn't need a newpaper, she told me the fee would cover any phone use, well I will be using my own phone. What do I do about this fee? ( I know its only 8 dollars a day)

I can't help you with most of your questions but we did stay at the Swan in '99 and had a great room overlooking the BW resort (even saw the roller coaster pool!). It was up pretty high over the canal that takes you to MGM. If it helps the room was #535. I'm not sure exactly how they're numbered but I'm assuming it was on the 5th floor. Our confirmation states that the resort fee was $5 at that time and included unlimited health club usage so maybe that will come in handy? It was only listed as a std view but I'm sure it was over water.
If you're really bent on staying at the Dolphin, I would go for it. Just call every day to see if they can squeeze you in that one night. Once you're there they will have a hard time moving you. I've done it before at a Marriott but with Disney, they should be even more accomodating. Enjoy your stay...wherever you end up!
