Frogmommy's "Time for a change" thread - comments welcome

Hey, we all need to splurge once in a while! I've noticed a trend in everyone's journal. It's like we are all losing our minds will all the candy around!! Hopefully we will be able to snap out of it soon!

At least you are getting your workouts in, good for you! And tomorrow starts a brand new month. You can get back on track!!! :cheer2:

Hi!

Tracy, welcome to my journal.*grin* Ty for stopping by.

Ty gradtchr! About the steakhouse...no, it wasn't a surprise. DH had his heart set on Outback. I eventually had to tell him that he was going to Yamatos. He got the hint. When we got there the kids presented him with a samuri sword. They took up a collection to get it for him. They also paid for both of our dinners. They are truly a sweet bunch.

Amy, I have definetely lost my mind with all this candy. The stupid thing is that most of it I would never eat. Like banana taffy. YUK! But just the idea that it's there is making me nuts. I'm really close to throwing it all out, especially as it's wayyyy to much sugar for any one 4 year old boy to consume - he's not bouncing off the walls, he's ricocheting. But then I feel guilty for taking his candy away. It's got to go though. I won't be able to function until it's gone.

Like many days this past week, my core menu items have been solid. 1 pt at breakfast for Go Lean, 3.5 at lunch with hummus on pita with 1/2 pear, an apple for a 1 pt snack, and I made chili tonight. It's a bizzare recipe that has apples, raisons, almonds, cocoa powder, and cinnimon in it along with the more traditional ingredients. I know it sounds really odd (like banana taffy?) but it's actually good, and 7 points a serving. Sounds a bit high, but it's really filling. So that brings my point total to 12.5. Not bad, until you factor in all the candy I also ate, which I can no longer keep up with. My mom, bless her, sent us some dark chocolate covered nuts for Halloween. Well, at least they are high in antioxidents. I washed them down with plenty of water however, 72oz worth.

I did my 20 minutes of cardio today. Seemed to go much easier then usual, which is especially surprising since a) I hadn't done it since Friday and b) I've become a crazed sugar monster of late. Oh yeah, TOM finally showed up today as well.

Hi!!!

You are really doing a great job! I feel for you with the candy issue. This last week has been really bad....candy everywhere!!!!!

Keep it up and have a wonderful Tuesday!

Believe me when I say your 4 year old will NOT notice his candy is all gone! I am the master at giving the kid's candy away. Take half of it and have DH take it to work. The next day, take half of what's left, etc. DS will never notice and you will keep your sanity. Or you can totally binge like I did and that will make you never want to see a candy bar or Tootsie Roll ever again! :teeth:

Your meals look great, and I know it is hard to lay off the candy, but this is November, you have to do it! You CAN do it!!! :cheer2:

Great job with the exercising, keep it up!

Hi everyone-

Hey Jamie, it's nice to see you again. :) I know I havn't been by your journal in a few days, but I see you are seeing some movement on the scale!! YAY!!

Amy. You are so right. I gotta get rid of the candy. I've been making too much progress to mess up over some silly candy.

Today has been better. I still ate some candy but I think I'm getting a better handle on it. The trash goes out tomorrow, so I think a lot of the candy is going with it.

I read on another board on this site that Disney will now take PS reservations 180 days in advance. I called and got ressies for the week we will be there, but now I'm rethinking everything. I've been surfing the menus and I'll probably get a whole new set of ressies tomorrow. As of right now, we are doing H&V Fantasmic package, Spoodles, Chef Mickey's for bfast, and Boma for Bfast. I'm not sure about any of that though. I really want to do Jiko instead of Boma, but I'm not sure about timing. We've never seen Fantasmic, but the funny thing is that for some reason I don't feel compelled to. I know it's suposed to be terrific, but if something has to go that's probably it. AUGH, I have another 157 days to obsess over this!

So the menu for the day was:
Go Lean - 1 pt
Open face ham SW on SPB with RF cheese - 3
1/2 pear - .5
CC & Olives on SWB - 3
Chili - 7
with 2% milk cheese - 2
And here's the fun part
2 oreos - 2
1 fun size skittles
1 fun size twix
4 dark choc nuts
1 pecan, 1 walnut

So, still either right at or slightly over my pt total of 25. But it's better than the last few days. Hey, at least I can itemize again. I need to go get some water, I'm probably short a glass or two.

I got in my upper body workout for 25 minutes.

Hi Heather
So... is the candy gone yet? This year I did not even pick up any to give away until 2 hours before it started and the the last 2 kids got all that was left.

Good work and keep going.

Russ

The candy situation looks much better! How can you eat 1 walnut and 1 pecan? Nuts (especially chocolate covered) do something to me and I can't stop at one or two. It's more like one or two HANDFULS. :confused3 They are SO high in calories, I wish I had your willpower!

Great job getting that workout in. Keep it up! :cool1:

Hi everyone...

Russ, ty for coming by. I threw half of DSs candy away. Most of what got tossed was stuff that probably wasn't going to get eaten anyway, but at least it made the pile look less daunting.

Hi Amy- well, the chocolate covered nuts I had to share with DH and DS. Those didn't last long. The other nuts were still in the shell, which makes it hard to gobble a bunch down quickly. I don't have enough time or patience to crack more then a few at any one time.

TY gradtchr. Even when my diet isn't going well I have managed to stay on track with the workouts. It's a good thing!

I didn't post here last night, though I did manage to update the exercise in my sig line. Weird thing about yesterdays workout, it hurt! I think I must have pushed myself a lot harder then I usually do. I got a little dizzy when it was over.

Yesterdays and todays menus are basically the same. Had my usual bfast and lunch of hummus on pita. Ate grapes with yesterday's lunch. Today it was an apple. Dinner was the same, chicken with red potatos and green beans. My weight watchers calculator puts dinner at 9 pts, but I used 1/2 of the olive oil and subbed the red potatos for baking potatos, which means I prolly didn't eat as much. Still nibbling on candy, what is left of it. Yesterday I also enjoyed a few glasses of wine. I'm probably OK on pts, though I'm not sure. I need to get back to keeping exact records.

Here's the weird thing...my unofficial weigh in shows that I've lost 2 pounds since Sunday. I have absolutely no idea how this is possible. I don't know if maybe I am overestimating the candy intake or maybe my body is simply confused. :confused3 I guess it's possible that my motabolism has changed. I truly expect to see a good 3 lb gain any day now.

What else? Still doing well with the water. I got in 30 minutes of lower body work today.

Don't expect a gain! Take the loss! Who knows why our body does those weird things, but take what you can get! It will be interesting to see what your official weigh-in tells you, you will probably be pleasantly surprised! :goodvibes

You are doing really good, keep it up! :cheer2:

Hi ;)

Amy, I know you are right and I am thankful for the loss. I also know that the female body is weird when it comes to weight loss. I think the main thing to remember is that even though there will be weeks where I will maintain or even gain, the end result over time is weight loss.

I didn't do much today. Friday is the one week day that I don't run my kids to some activity. We were suposed to go to DHs football game tonight, but he has developed bronchitis. I rented a movie ("Peter Pan") and got a frozen pizza. It was actually a nice way to spend a Friday night.

Diet has been better today. I had a LC french bread pizza that I ate while everyone else ate the other one. THe only blip was that there was some of the other left over, which I ended up finishing up. I was good other then that:

Go Lean - 1
Hummus on pita - 3
1/2 pear - .5
Baked Lays - 2
LC pizza - 6 or 7. I forget
other pizza - 7
A few cracked nuts - not sure
2 small tootsie rolls - not sure

So, close to or below 25 pts. I'm still not doing as well as I was a week ago, but I am getting better. I will say I feel full tonight. That's not always the case when my total pts are lower. I got 72 oz of h2o in, and 20 minutes of cardio.

I've been very bad about posting in journals this week. Next week probably won't be much better. I have one more week of my online recert. class. I'll have a little more time once its done.

I'm going to make this entry a short one, just long enough to jot down what I ate.

Go Lean - 1
Wrap with ham and RF cheese - 3
1/2 pear - .5
2 wasa crackers - 1
2 small tootsie rolls and 2 rolls of sweet tarts, I estimate this at <2 points
We went to McAlisters Deli for dinner. They don't have nutritional info posted anywhere, but I think I did ok. I had a ham sandwich on wheat bread and a small serving of veggie soup. DH ordered some kind of brownie desert that had ice cream and whipped topping. I had a few bites of that, probably a good pt/bite. I also ate some of DDs chips. I need to go get a glass of water, but once I do I'll be at or over 64 oz for the day. Despite the chips and desert I think I did pretty well for the day.

I did 25 minutes of upper body work.

Hi everyone-

So today was the official weigh in and I am still down 2 lbs, so that puts me at 10 lbs lost total!!! :cool1: I decided to compute my BMI using my new weight (I forget the number - 32 maybe). I am still considered obese BUT once I get down to 168 I will be just overweight. If I continue losing weight at my current rate I will hit 168 sometime in January. Now, I'm sure most people don't relish the thought of being overweight but I would sure love to start next year off by no longer being obese. When I get down to 140 my weight will be within normal ranges for my height. I wonder if I can get there by the time we go to Disney? Not sure if I'm being realistic right now, but it would be so cool.

I decided to take some time today to read other journals. It was great to catch up and see how well everyone else is doing. :)

My DH informed me tonight that he was planning to stop smoking next Sunday, cold turkey. He's told me this several times before, but you know if I can lose weight then I believe he can stop smoking.

Today was my rest day, so no workout. I had a good day diet wise. I made my family sausage, eggs, and biscuits for breakfast but didn't have any. It looked good, but I just wanted my tried and true 1 pt go lean. I would hate to blow so many points first thing in the morning. This is what the rest of the day looked like:

Hummus on pita - 3
with white grapes - .5 - 1
2 wasa crackers - 1
2 rolls of sweet tarts - 1 (they are all gone now, lol)
2 small tootsie rolls - ? guessing between .5 and 1 (they are also gone now)
grilled pork tenderloin - 5
pineapple salsa - 1
basmati rice - 3
green beans - 0
Heart Smart Ice Cream - 2
5 nuts - 1 or 2?
72 oz h2o

So I'm back on track now. Yay!

I think I may go do my candlelight yoga cd. I havent done it in months and I'm betting it will feel really nice.

Way to go! :cool1: Congratulations on losing 10 pounds! :Pinkbounc You are doing a great job! :cheer2: Keep up the good work and you will make your goal! ::yes::

Have a great week ahead! :sunny:

hi! thanks for writing in my journal..i just started reading yours and you are doing great!! congrats on losing 10 lbs!!!

10 pounds YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :grouphug: How exciting!!!!! I am so happy for you!!!!!! (if ya couldn't tell) You are doing such a great job with your weight loss.

Good luck with DH and the smoking!

Hi!

Ty Tracy, Jen, and Beth! I'm pretty thrilled with myself too. I've lost weight before, but I don't ever recall feeling this positive about it. People have told me before that when the time was right I would do it. I guess the time is right.

So right now I am feeling incredably munchy. Not good for quarter to 11pm. Maybe it has something to do with looking at all the Disney menus while planning for our upcoming trip? AUGH, I must be a masochist because this is torture! I'm climbing the walls. I think I'm going to get some FF yogurt when I finish here, hopefully that will help. THere's nothing worse than going to bed hungry.

My diet has been good today, and almost identical to yesterday. I ate:

Go Lean - 1
Open face ham on wheat with RF swiss - 3
1/2 pear - .5
2 wasa crackers with cc- 2
grilled pork tenderloin - 4 (had less today)
pineapple salsa - 1
basmati rice - 3
green beans - 0
Krave bar - 4
5 nuts - 1 or 2?
64 oz h2o

Got my 20 minutes of cardio in 1st thing this morning. :cool1:

You are doing great! Congrats on that 10 lbs, what a milestone! And good for DH quitting smoking. You will be a healthier family all around! :goodvibes

I can't believe you can make such a scrumptious sounding breakfast and not have any! What terrific willpower! You are going to make your goal - you have the motivation it takes, keep going! :cheer2:

Way to go with the 10lbs!! You're going to look great for your trip to Disney. You won't believe how much lighter on your feet you'll feel after losing this weight. I had alot more energy at Disney this past trip than I had in the spring.

I know about those munchies. Hang in there!
