Frighteningly Long Line for the Skyliner at Park Close

The funny thing about this is now with the Grand Floridian Walkway & Bridge to MK complete, all the "Monorail Resort Guests" will be using the walkway and bridge while the offsite guests and day guests will be using the Monorail.....

Great point!

for how long of a walk this is. I don't see a majority using this or even half. Even lower for Poly Guests. Its still a pretty long walk from MK to GF. Especially if you've been at the parks all day and ur feet are exhausted by park close lol.
After a trip where the monorails were down for about an hour, and when they did resume service the trains came in about once every 30 minutes, it took us about 2 hours to get from MK back to VGF, I'll take a mile walk any day of the week over waiting for the monorail.

The walk is just under a mile to VGF from the the front of MK, and about a mile and a quarter to Poly.

My wife and I took a trip to BWV last week.

On Friday evening at park close we sat on a bench at the International Gateway exit and watched the line grow to get on the Skyliner. We sat there for a while people watching, maybe 20 minutes. Then we started back to BWV. The line for the Skyliner went all the way back to the entrance to BCV! It was that long and still growing.

The Skyliner was running normally and although there was social distancing at work the groups boarding the Skyliner were essentially one long line. It must have been an hour wait to get on the Skyliner when we walked away.

For the poor folks at The Riviera, Carribean Beach, and further down stream on the Skyliner that is a loooooong wait. I don't even want to know if this "line" was repeated at the station that goes to DHS.

To me this looks like a "baked in" problem on the Skyliner. So if you plan on using the Skyliner out of International Gateway get there before park close or you could have a long wait.
I was at boardwalk last week and saw same thing. One night the line went over bridge basically to beach club; cast memeber said wait was 45 min to 1 hr and also noted a previous day it actually went all the way to beach club pool (not sure wait time for this but imagine had to be 1 to 1.5hr). In comparison, the bus leaving Epcot at closing when staying at bay lake tower this week took about 20 min and even this annoyed me as every other station I could see was completely empty (poly had 4 buses come in time contemporary had 1). Not sure if this is common theme for contemporary or something specific with Epcot monorail line closure but contemporary has by far been worst bus experience I’ve had this stay in terms of wait and crowding on bus.

I had good luck last week with bus from the parks back to BLT in the middle of the day, but my DD and her boyfriend ended up jumping on the Grand Floridian bus close to closing from AK since the bus for CR hadn’t come and GF had two in the same time.

So end of day it seems to be more than just Epcot being short changed buses back to BLT. Don’t know why either.

This is our experience with contemporary bus too.

For MK - we took the resort boat back and forth to Poly and loved it. I guess because most of Poly is still closed there's no wait... even when we left MK at closing 2 Saturdays ago.

The Skyliner is scary at Epcot closing. There are no smiles to count. The first night of Art Fest was nuts! I felt so bad for those families trying to find the end of the line almost down by the Beach Club lobby. During the week at Beach Club we saw many people get out of the line and walk thru BC to catch an uber. Imagine doing that line after a long day walking 12 miles in Epcot, and then still needing to do another line at CBR to get back to AoA or Pop.

Too bad it's not possible to walk back to Riviera from EP or better yet, have a new leg connect RIV near Italy WS.

If the Skyliner is running, are there also still buses to those resorts at the front entrance? Or is there no choice (for Disney Transport users) but to wait for the Skyliner?

Meh, I’m not worried about it because when we close a park, we typically wait 30 minutes before heading out and by that time, lines for transportation are shorter.

The Skyliner line has been very long especially on the weekends at park closings. I agree with a previous poster, no one looks happy. The night Festival of the Arts opened the line was down to the BC quiet pool and restrooms.

I didn't think it was so bad, especially compared with something like catching a bus at MK right after the fireworks. At least the line for the skyliner moves while you're on it. I hate standing and waiting 30-60 minutes for a bus at park closing.

Nothing like a long line with thousands of people in a pandemic! Next I will be hearing about thousands of people waiting in line to buy cookies and doughnuts!

"There are no smiles to count" - that is such a clever and descriptive turn of a phrase.

It's not that bad and we are at BWV as well right now have been for a week.

Just avoid park closing by leaving early or taking extra time after the park closes.

One family per car is going to 2-3x the wait when you used to be able to get 4-10 people in a car. Then add in basically eliminating 3 or 4 switch backs and line spacing ends up increasing line length by like 2/3/4x as well.

We noticed this at DHS this last trip. The line for the Skyliner was almost back to the park exit. Even with social distancing this was long, long, long. I was just glad we were able to walk past this line to the buses..ºoº

And wait 20-30 mins at the bus stop for a bus.

Sorry had to finish the sentence for you lol

To add context I have sat at Epcot waiting over an hour in the evening even before fireworks for a bus back to Kidani. I will take an option I can prepare for vs the weirdness of busses.

Imho, the Skyliner is a ride in and of itself. Since it’s opened, when on property, we try to at least once purposefully miss our stop and do a loop whenever we can.

I can't remember how long of a wait it was(was not very long and most certainly not 20 to 30 minutes)) but I do not remember the line or the wait being nearly as long as that for the Skyliner. Now maybe it was due to us staying at Kidani I do not know but if it was a long wait or the line was as long as for the skyliner I would not have posted the reply to this post in the first place...ºoº

Bus by just the way they work will eb and flow and you could get lower waits or longer waits regardless of timing.

With the Skyliner you can actively choose to not have a wait by simply leaving a little early or staying in the park for a while after closing by getting dinner or such.

Funny thing is this trip our longest wait of the trip was a bus from AK to HS mid day. We went to AK just to see the GV. We even joked about it while waiting.
